I hadn't heard of Magnolia River before I interviewed here last year but I am so glad I took a chance. Everyone that works in the administrative offices (admin, HR, finance, engineering, GIS) is here because they want to be here and enjoy the family type atmosphere. And "family" is not some corporate ideal that they don't live up to - they preach it AND they live it. It's nice to be somewhere that actually takes work/life balance seriously and realizes that their employees have lives and families outside the office that need attention from time to time. They don't treat you like a number here. The management takes pains to learn about you and your family and remembers details like kids and spouse names - even for people they don't see that often.
I can't speak to the field personnel that works for the Inspection group but I know the support functions do their best to include the field guys whenever possible on all the "fun" stuff.
Overall, the company is growing super fast but the leaders are adjusting where they need to and when they need to - but I have heard that can leave some people feeling like they are in a constant state of inconsistency. I believe that they have the right vision and are on the right track, though, so it should even out eventually.
Looking forward to retiring from Magnolia River when my time comes.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have a good Supervisor and they are really laid back about when you work. As long as you get you work done they are pretty flexible on times worked.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The upper management nixed raises for the year because they screwed up and lost a couple contracts and didn’t have backup plan, meanwhile executives at Warren equity which owns the company continue to get raises and bonuses.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Decent and laid back except for upper Management. The previous business owner showed a lot of nepotism in promotions and appointments and the upper management is very adamant that they took that practice out. That’s all well and good but they kinda harp on it all the time to the point of being irritating.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get up do your job and go home - pretty much simple as that

after 18 months of working for MR I quit working for my manager. A few good CWI, NACE, CPWI employees are at this company but the program manager are just anybodies willing to work for a salary with benefits. The management in the field away from headquarters is horrible. they make their own rules that differ from the "culture" of the company. Also be reminded this is a southern US company where civil rights in the region had to be fought for. Career advancement in the quality field isn't available or wasn't an option to sign up for, the company asked us if we would like to advance with more certs, however to no avail; Family ties run deep in the company management creating impartial thoughts and misdirection. My opinion is only of the inspection side of MR. MR has many other sectors in the company. Turnover rate for inspectors is high. Last thing read the book its a decent book.

In the inspection division, the day to day requirements can change. This is to be expected with any continuously growing company. Management of inspectors are promoted from the field, which means there are familiar experiences between management and the inspection team. Bottom line, they get it. Job locations may change, and you have to have some adaptability to be efficient in the inspector roll. This includes location, reports, clients, and manuals/operations to follow on behalf of the client. Team players and workers that take pride in their work are recognized. If you are the type of person that holds integrity, holds yourself accountable, creates good work habits, and follows the culture of MR, it can be a promising career. 

I worked here for years, and during that time I was able to witness the company quadruple in size. The problem is; that we grew so fast that the company I started with had a family atmosphere, and by the end I was just a number on payroll. I liked my co-workers very much, but management was a revolving door of, who was our department head. Every few months the structure changed and we reported to someone else. It made doing my job very difficult due to each new leader imposing new policies and procedures. Due to the small size of the company I had to fill hybrid rolls, that ate up much of my time. I was salary for my first 3 years and worked an average of about 48 hrs per week, but with travel and work a good deal of my 3rd year I worked over 50 hrs per week. Work life balance is only encouraged if there isn't work to be done.

This company promote books to be 'out of the box' and a laundry list of good character traits to be as employees, I struggle to find the reality. Many of the rank and file are great people trying to do a good job with the direction and tools given, but there is a deficient communication on those in upper management that should be practicing what they preach. They promote those only who are related to someone in the upper management or are good at kissing up. It is very bizarre working in the constantly changing management structure. Kind of psychotic and stressful. If you don't like it, oh well just quit or else. I only stay because of the benefit.

I worked at Magnolia River.  The atmosphere was really good and productive.  They have many fun company events and it was truly a team atmosphere.

The problem is that there was very little communication between management, and the employees.  It was a giant guessing game as to whether you were doing things right and they were happy with your work.  It seemed that the further levels up that management was removed from the employees, the worse the communication was.

I am torn between whether I would recommend this as a potential employer because the co-workers were great, and it truly was  team atmosphere, but the lack of communication was horrible and always left more questions than answers with management.

Magnolia River Services has truly exceeded my expectations in every way. From day one, I was struck by the palpable sense of camaraderie and support that permeates the work environment. Magnolia River is a complete joke! DO NOT WORK HERE!!! The so called "management"  at this establishment, have zero experience  and lack the skills required to perform ANY duties. They will hire their family and friends over experienced people. They hire unexperiend workers from Hobby Lobby, to be inspectors with ZERO experience. The pay is extremely low, for the responsibilities that you will be legally accounted for. You will be moved all over the state, while other "workers" have been in the same spot for months or years. I can not wait to quit this job. I hate everything about it. DO NOT WORK HERE!!!

This company will let you go with no real reason. Politics are strong and there is a big separation between upper management in Alabama and boots on the ground / management in the field. Mostly the Alabama headquarters is very unorganized and communication to know who is doing what is nonexistent. Upper management is so disconnected, they truly don’t know what’s going on in the field. They believe in the good ole boy politics and do not have integrity like they so strongly preach. Many people have left this company since I have. Don’t waste your time.
