I encourage everyone to avoid working here.

Management was terrible, demeaning, and condescending. The entirety of management is disconnected from the work actually being done. While very intelligent and knowledgeable, management was rarely present for the team unless specifically requested and it was clear that the communication within leadership was lacking. 

It seemed there was favoritism present and management and leaders became defensive when problems and concerns were brought up.

There was a lack of communication throughout the entire hospital. There was no recognition for the work you did - they just piled things on and expected you to meet the expectations that were never communicated effectively. Training and onboarding was nonexistent and you're thrown into things without understanding the process.

This hospital is reactive - never planning in advance or thinking about how decisions impact their employees. There's a reason turnover is so high and morale is so low. Safety isn't prioritized for employees and you never know what to expect. During my time there, I watched nursing staff dwindle and there was almost complete turnover of the therapists there. Therapists only provide group therapy - there's a lack of individual help. At the end of the day, it's case work and you spend most of your time making phone calls. I productivity was valued more than spending time and helping the patients there. 

Even when sick,  you’re still asked to come in and work which not only impacts your coworkers but the patients who are unable to leave. While I believe the employees have good intentions, it's clear that management values profits over people which is incredibly sad.

You would think such a new organization would want to ensure processes/policies are solid before growing however, they're rushing the process in order to increase census and bring in more money.

It's disappointing as I came in believing this would be an opportunity for growth and to create a better inpatient environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Plenty of overtime available.   Due to high call offs, one could work every day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's dangerous, especially the adolescent unit.  Kids today love to challenge authority and physical violence towards staff is a daily occurrence. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company wants to fill every bed, regardless of how violent the patient has been in the past in total disregard for the safety of other patients and staff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most days are pretty stable. There's always several patients you feel you've connected with and have made a difference, but at least once a week, you encounter a very dangerous situation and you have to be able to recognize quickly.How a situation can escolate towards  violence and be able to remove yourself quickly from the environment.

A day at work consists of multiple code greys that put you in harms way, you have to physically restrain patients. No security. You can’t call the police when assaulted because they will be upset. I learned how bad the health care system is, they do not care about the patients, only their insurance and how much it’ll pay and for how long- that’s what your stay depends on. Management doesn’t know what they are doing, then gets mad when the rest of the staff don’t either. Training is poor. Culture is okay, some of the best co workers I’ve had. Hardest part of the job is is no support for new employees and no directions. The most enjoyable thing about this job is feeling helping the patients and the employees. It’s awful. Please don’t work here. They also give bonuses that are unapproved and then not pay them out after worked. Management is unorganized and they lost a bunch of bonus papers also. 

I loved my job at first... once management changed and they opened a new unit it all changed. We were dangerously understaffed every shift and it was scary. BHTs were coming in untrained and not prepared for how the floor would be. My coworkers were amazing people who were very qualified in the field some came from ABA and others came from addiction centers. However they still underpaid us and overworked us. I recall being on thr floor with 16 teenagers alone with just one nurse. It was a nightmare. I knew I had to quit when 2 patients made it on the unit with razor blades that were not discovered till days later. 

If they prioritize safety over profit it can be an amazing place but until then it's just a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt

Much needed acute psyche  hospital in Ft. Wayne for 12-17, and adults. They have the transition to intensive out patient counseling; which is a must to assure continued care. The hospital, treatments, etc. all were appropriate. The only issue would be the PCA and/or RN to patient ratios. To make a personal quarterly bonus, supervisors would short staff the unit on purpose. Its why a lot of good people left a job they loved. Acadia policies do not support this action and I hope they are more hands on and watching over their hospitals (not just this one) yo assure this isn't happening anymore. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Initial 13 week pay rate under contract was the best part of working at this facility.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working for this company was the poor staff to patient ratio and fear for the safety of patients and staff. We are caring  for some of the most vulnerable people in our community and they deserve a company whose main concern is safety not their  profit margin. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unsafe  environment for patients, nurses and behavioral  health technicians.  Acadia corporation values profit over safety for patients and staff.

The management does not care about patients or employees. They will downstaff people to dangerous levels and allow one nurse to work with 16-20 patients. Many of the management staff have substance abuse problems impacting their ability to function as leaders. Intraoffice dating of managers and staff has become an issue that administrators refuse to address. Administration does not follow the company handbook guidelines. I would not recommend working here if you value patient care and safety. If you’re in it for the money this administration is a good fit for you. They will pay you well at the expense of your mental and physical well being and the patients recovery. 

If you want to work here, know what you’re getting into (as of now)-

Expect to be overworked, understaffed, and unprotected. There were really great members of staff that have left due to the complete disregard of patient and staff care. There are not enough resources for patients, not enough staff to safely supervise… and management will continue with empty promises and contempt for those that speak up. 

It’s about filling beds, making money, and perpetuating this horrible system a lot of us (naively) wanted to change. Unfortunately you will be disappointed every single day. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay. There is literally no other reason to work at this facility.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of security and unsafe policies. Lack of support from management. Unprofessional character and unethical attitude in management. Ridiculous workload. Patients that are justifiably terrified of other patients.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s in the gutter. Do not consider this facility.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Over worked and not appreciated.

Extremely high turnover due to terrible staffing levels.  They simply overload the staff with patients.  Great co-workers, but they don't stay.  Acute patients combined with low level patients, which results in a chaotic and stressful unit.  It is dangerous and not for the weak of heart.  Money is decent, but it has to be considering the field.  Upper management is more concerned about revenue than the safety of the workers and the other patients.
