What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This was easily one of the most frustrating retail experiences I’ve had. Because the store was newly opened, operations were extremely disorganized from the start. There were no clear systems in place, and it often felt like no one truly knew what they were doing. Training was essentially non-existent—you’re placed on the sales floor with little to no guidance and expected to figure things out on your own.

Communication between leadership was very poor, which created confusion and inconsistency in expectations. There was also clear favoritism, which affected morale and fairness among employees. Management lacked experience, and it showed in daily operations and decision-making.

The store itself struggled significantly with traffic. Despite constant pressure to meet sales goals, the location receives very little foot traffic, making those expectations unrealistic. It often felt like one of the least visited stores in the mall, and many customers didn’t even seem aware the store existed.

Staffing was another major issue—we were frequently understaffed, yet hours were limited and pay did not match the workload or expectations. On top of that, customer interactions could be difficult, and there was little support when dealing with challenging situations.

Store upkeep was inconsistent, with little accountability for maintaining cleanliness or visual standards. Corporate policies also changed frequently, often creating more confusion rather than improving operations.

Lastly, it felt like employees at the entry level were treated as easily replaceable, with minimal support from HR when concerns were raised.

I typically do not leave reviews about past work experiences, but I feel compelled to share this one due to the impact it had on me and others. If you are considering employment with Marc Jacobs, specifically at the Aurora outlet location, I strongly encourage you to proceed with caution.

I worked as a part-time supervisor for approximately seven months, and unfortunately, it was the most negative work experience I have encountered. The store manager consistently created an unprofessional and hostile work environment. I was frequently undermined, disrespected, and treated unfairly despite regularly working beyond my scheduled hours and exceeding the expectations of my role. Rather than being supported in a leadership position, I often felt targeted and discouraged.

There was also clear favoritism within the store, particularly regarding the distribution of sales, which directly impacted commission opportunities and team morale. While several team members worked overtime and put in significant effort to meet monthly goals, opportunities were repeatedly given to the same individual. Additionally, personal issues appeared to be brought into the workplace, affecting management decisions and overall team dynamics.

A healthy workplace should promote fairness, professionalism, accountability, and respect. Unfortunately, those qualities were lacking at this location. I would not recommend this store to anyone seeking a supportive, equitable, and growth-oriented work environment.

This job is a great first time luxury retail job and this job came to me at a difficult point in my life and was a huge blessing because I have been with the company for a year and love it! Management is great and tries their best to make the work place fun and exciting. It feels like a close knit family. This is also one of the few companies that offers their part time employees benefits which is also a huge blessing. The only downside was the commission policy is really strict and if you dont hit a certain sales per hour, you dont make your commission so theres alot of pressure to make your goal. Also the closing procedure is really tedious and you have to make sure the store is standardized in a very specific way every night which can be annoying. I also felt like the pay is a bit low for a luxury company I just wished they paid better because I love the job! Management is also good at making sure you get a break so you are not overworked and the company is good at staffing accordingly so were not short staffed. My hours are usually consistent and within part time hours so I still have a work-life balance but holiday hours can get a little stressful but that comes with any retail job. Overall this is the best retail job Ive had and the great management and benefits is what made me stay with the company !

I feel that the company doesn't give their employees enough recognition and are under valued for the goals they meet and accomplishments they make as a store. And I feel that all employees that work 30 hrs plus should get some kind of benefits and PTO. But as for the store I work for I love my coworkers and managers. Their awesome to work with but we also have some things to work on so that we can function better as a team. Overall it's a good company to work for. And as for pay and what you can make well the sky is the limit. It's commission based so as long as you push yourself you can bring home a great amount with commission. But that is going to be on you thou to do that. You have to push yourself to make sales but be courteous to your coworkers too that is and be fair. Cause commission based if your not courteous and fair you will definitely cause conflict and it's just never good or comfortable working in a environment like that. 

A typical day at Marc Jacobs was to get into the office early and check to make sure all items and supplies were stocked. Next I would eat my breakfast along with checking and replying to my and bosses emails. I then would check in with my boss for the tasks of the day, and get them done. The workplace culture was very nice. Everyone there had beautiful souls, we were like a big family. We talked about everything and always listened and tried to help when our employees were have bad/long days. The hardest part of the job was juggling receptionist duties along with executive assistant duties as I played both roles due to shortage of staff. Executive assistant called for me to run around and handle tasks for an exec but receptionist called for me to handle calls and visitors and admin tasks for 2 floors.

A typical day at work is talking to each and every client/customer. Each customer could be a potential client. And each client is a way for you to sell and to creative a beautiful look for your client. The best part of my job is sitting someone in the chair and letting my
Creative mind flow with all the wonder products of marc jacobs at my disposal. The hardest part is my job is not having a lot of foot traffic, low foot traffic means no client interaction, low sales, and loneliness. I love the environment, and management, they are always willing to guide you and help you advance. My co workers strive for teamwork. We are only as strong as the weakest link.

Used to be a great company to work for before they started trying to cut corners by underpaying, being shady and making terrible mistakes (financially.. but they'll spend money on stupid stuff)

Co workers are close like family- but corporate and store level is VERY different. You may have a close relationship with your boss but  despite being noticed for hard work by peers/people at your level.. it will go seriously un noticed on the bigger scale.

Costing employees their dignity and self worth! Take care of your employees! especially ones  who have been working for years!!!

This place is just horrible. The company hires you as a freelance to avoid paying healthcare and the few people that are full time are people that have been there forever. Everyone is lazy and there are groups of people that are working on the same exact task. You work long hours and even on my personal time such as days off or late at night, I would receive phone calls or text messages with the most ridiculous questions.

Everyone is mean and when have no problems trying to blame you or others. Even when you prove that you didn't make a mistake, the same thing happens again.  Just horrible company and I was so excited to get out of there. 

I learned a lot at Marc Jacobs about the fashion business working in the FP&A departement. I also had the chance to work closely with Sales and Business Planning departements as well as Supply Chain which made my exeperience more enriching and rewarding. I developped skills in Finance and Sales analysis as well as in Corporate Finance working closely with the Director of Wholesale Finance and Operations.

I really enjoy working in a multicultural environment with a lot of American, some European and South American. I learned how to adapt in a changing environment in another country and are more that willing to continue my experience in the luxury and beauty sector in New York.

This place is very strange.  I was hired as a freelance among many others and it turned into a 2 year job. However, some people were hired full time off the bat.

If you're freelance, you will get bossed around my full time and will get requests for the most tedious things even though there are dozens of interns floating around.

This place has too many cooks in the kitchen and nobody knows what they are doing. Everything is last minute and you have at least 4-5 people asking about the same thing without helping.

This place is in horrible shape and they make changes after every season on policies, letting people go and just being mean.
