A typical day at Masonic Care Community is a day of chaos. The LPNs, RNs, and CNAs are very disrespectful towards housekeeping staff and make it a point of their day to harass us employees simply because they make more than us, and we are not allowed to stick up for ourselves to any of them since they are higher up so we must go through everyday here being harassed and talked about without being able to do anything, and the reports that get sent about said nurses get ignored by the owners of Masonic and the director and nursing. Masonic picks their favorite employees to give raises too and most of the time new hires get paid more than veteran employees. The residents are fantastic and very kind people and not only are they are the best part about working here, they are the only good part of being here. All in all I would say absolutely do not work here, it is not worth the stress.

• Reported to the senior doctors of the status of patient by spending maximum time in the room with the patient.
• Maintained the ward neat and clean.
• Obtained specimens, weights, and vital signs of patients.
• Provided nursing care in accordance with resident care policies and procedures.
• Ensured the safety and well-being of the residents is maintained.
• Assisted residents with bathing, dressing, hygiene, and grooming in accordance with established care plan.
• Measured and recorded patient's fluid intake and output.
• Managed supply inventory and supply requisitions.
• Provided patient transportation to doctor appointments.

The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to interact with the residents & hearing about their life stories. A typical day at work could be very stressful at times as I was a float for awhile so there was a lot of change when it came to new floors, meaning new faces, wants/needs from the residents. Very fast pace especially when it came to meal times & getting daily cleanings done on that household while not serving meals. Management was different for every floor some more strict than others, but all had 1 common goal & that was to look out for the best interests for their residents on their households.

Activity Supervisor  for the Men’s Wood Shop, HRF and SNF Activity Classes.Correlated operations of the Men's Woodworking Shop and class instruction for SNF, HRF, and Adult Care. I operated and directed the men's woodworking shop providing items to be sold in the Masonic Café/Store at the facility. Maintained all mechanical and electrical equipment, inventory, and planned projected department goals. I also conducted arts and crafts, meditation and personal achievement classes. Maintained progress notes, attended nursing, and administrative patient projection planning meetings.

I recently joined the team at the Masonic Care Community and I am so happy that I did! MCC is an outstanding place to work and has an excellent organizational culture. As a long standing, anchor institution in the Utica area, MCC helps to support more than 20,000 people on its 440-acre campus each year and the staff are invested in their work and provide exceptional care for the people we serve as a charitable organization. As a new employee, the MCC team has been very supportive and welcoming. In addition, we have a number of exciting projects and activities underway including the development of a new Horticultural Center. The future looks bright at MCC and I am thrilled to be part of an amazing team of people doing important work for the community and the people in our care.

Since becoming a full time employee almost 12 years ago, I have learned a lot about finance, banking and residents well being. The residents are the number 1 concern at Masonic and everyone works together to make sure their lives are care free. Great atmosphere and  very nice people . The hardest part of my job in all the little things that I honestly don't have time to do. I don't like to have things outstanding on my desk. 

I have worked at MCC for 10 years and have loved almost every minute of it. The residents are the best part of your day and always know how to put a smile on your face. The community activities in MCC are extensive, broad, and meet the needs of all the individual residents. Staff to resident ratio is appropriate and manageable. Staff at MCC are caring, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand if necessary.  MCC operates under a healthcare workers union that offers competitive benefits and support to each individual employee.

while I was employed By this company I worked as a security officer and was responsible for patroling the campus,responding to medical calls,Money drop offs,access control. locking /unlocking doors,fire drills,alarm system checks,as well as parking control traffic control.the management at this facility is friendly but ignores major security issues. when issues are brought up they are ignored.The most enjoyable part of the job for me were the residents that live at the facility. I always enjoyed our conversations and my dealing with them.

Beware....of working here....employees work hard, but management is not supportive of their employees. Do not listen to concerns of their employees, and HR is known to be the most unsupportive /nasty backstabbing department on the Campus. Employees can be treated unfairly by management and HR does nothing to resolve the issues. Residents are wonderful. If you complain to HR about harassment, they do nothing but blame employee. Wonder if that is why they have to advertise so much for jobs. Very depressing place to work. Upper management conspires with HR and decides your fate.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff members are very friendly and helpful. The facility is amazingly clean and has all the necessary upgrades in equipment. And the residents are extremely amazing.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As with any nursing home facility, staffing is stressful at times, but it is manageable here.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very cultural. And I really enjoy learning from the staff and the residents
