So it's a pretty facility. Got it! Great. Ratio is 15 residents per 2-3 CNAs and 1 nurse. Unless you are a nurse who works long term care and the dementia ward. Then it's 30 residents to 1 nurse and MAYBE 2 CNAs per unit if they don't have call-ins. Various paperwork for charting purposes, vitals, bandage/wound care, appointments, and typical long term care work. Workplace culture is very sorority like, with select few being apart of the "in crowd". Clear division between administration and floor employees. And not in the professional manner. However favorites get away with anything and everything. Bottom line if you aren't well liked up top don't expect any favors, understanding, or real recognition. Don't bring concerns to administration. They don't care. Be mindful of certain floor employees (CNA, therapy, cooks, housekeeping, or nurses). They all gossip, and will try to set people up. Residents are decent, however there is a clear difference in how long term care residents with money are treated and those who don't have as much money. Not to mention short rehab side residents are treated like they are at a day spa in comparison. Pay is ok, but could be better. Hardest part of the job is time management because duties are not very evenly spread out for nurses or CNAs. Lots of upset people here, but no one ever goes to the DON or Administrator with their concerns. Could be the fact that it is very clear, that having happy employees is not a priority. Just bodies. If they truly cared, then they would retain their employees longer. And the their work would show their satisfaction. I think the administrators and CEO need to take a closer look at Warwick. Because administration there is ruining Masonic's legacy.

I worked for Masonic for nearly 2 years, they offer self scheduling, and opportunities to gain new skills like, working on the Rehab unit, or working in the Assisted Breathing Unit. There are recruitment bonuses, and they will pay for your CNA classes and state test. You have the opportunity to work whatever shift you'd like, working 12 hour shifts 3 days a week, or the usual 8 hours, 5 days a week, if you're full time. I loved my coworkers, they made the experience fun, and we all got to know each other on a personal level which made the work days go by faster. There are always overtime opportunities and the pay is great for the area. Turnover rate is very high. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the management. The new administrator came in, and things seemed to have gotten worse, he talked a lot of game, but didn't realize that he bit off more than he could chew. They don't appreciate their Nursing staff nearly as well as they should, and don't pay well enough for the amount of overtime everyone does. On average before I left I was working 60 or more hours a week, and several 16 hour shifts in a row. I didn't do it for the paychecks, I did it because I wholeheartedly loved my residents, but all that work, a little praise, a pat on the back, or even a thank you would have been appreciated.

I have worked here for quite a few months now. When I interviewed for the position they never told me about mandation and I had no idea that it occurs consistently on EVERY shift you work. The pay is not good for the amount of work; $12.85 starting rate with yearly raises, and you only really get successfully trained on your shift only and are thrown to the wolves for every other one you might pick up. You have an opposite who manages your position when you're off but there is no way to match up your schedules together. If you really want control of your schedule you are better to go contingent. Contingents get to pick the days they work (up to 3 a week) and cannot be mandated. They have it the best out of everyone. The scheduler does not work with you and consistently gets nasty with you at the drop of the hat. Upper management allows residents to beat you and scream at you without transferring them to a more skilled nursing facility and if you complain about a situation they will tell you they don't want to hear such negative talk. Most residents are privileged and rude and many times so are your coworkers. It's a toxic environment and NOT worth the pay. Already looking for new work

I loved my residents and the type of work I was doing, even though I barely had time to take a lunch and never took breaks. Masonic does not provide enough staff to give residents proper care. I worked hard everyday, but lost my job based on word of mouth from other employees saying I was not helpful and did not answer resident pages in a timely manner. My supervisors never communicated with, or attempt to get to know me. Instead, hey also base your job performance on words from other employees, even those you don't work with regularly. Due to the lack of communication, an employee doesn't even have an opportunity to defend or prove themselves. I was truly shocked when they were telling me I was being let go, because I did do my job, along with helping others do their's. Its very sad to see such a prestigious company and organization not take it's time to get to know it's residents or employees and allow the advancement of under-qualified staff into management positions.

Had to be at work by 7am to set up all equipment in the kitchen where you cooked breakfast for 15 residents.  
Cooked all different meals for residents at breakfast, then had to hand wash all dishes after breakfast because dishwasher didnt work the whole time I worked there.  Then you started pulling and dividing up meat for other floors that had to be used throughout the week for meals. After that you started to make lunch for your 15 residents and hand washed dishes after that meal.  The dishes had to be washed before you could take a lunch.  When you came back you had to start prepping and cooking for the supper meal.  Then you washed dishes by hand before leaving, you also had to do laundry daily because housekeeping would not.  I had hurt my knee because one of the mats that we stand on was not cleaned by housekeeping and my foot  stuck to it over extending my knee.  After hurting my knee I was put in the office because I could not stand for 10 hours anymore.

Other than the pay and some of the benefits it’s a hostile work environment. DO NOT WORK HERE. The pay is not worth it. Other CNA’s like to bully each other. Supervisors and managers will make fun of other CNA’s and imitate them. I had a supervisor imitate and make fun of another openly gay CNA. There we’re a couple high school students who worked there and some of CNA’s made rumors about them sleeping around. Supervisors won’t do anything when things are reported. Midnight shift gets treated like absolute garbage. CNA’s will lie about other CNA’s that they don’t like and will do anything to get them in trouble. They treat the dementia unit like it’s the last of there priority and will purposely short staff the unit. Constant call in and Mandation. The pay is amazing but truly not worth dealing the constant harassment and bullying. And you can clearly tell the administrator is there just for a paycheck.

I enjoyed working here when I first started. But over the past few years it has just been ran into the ground. Management changes quarterly or they simply don’t care about their staff and the safety of the residents. The ratio of staff to residents may be state qualified but it definitely is NOT safe with the amount of workload thrown on the staff. It was no longer quality care. Staff reductions were happening every day. Management never listened to the staffs opinions or concerns it seemed like. And because of that, they had to bring in agency because they couldn’t/can’t seem to keep staff. Even the agency were leaving. That should say a lot. I personally would never put a loved one there simply because I know they wouldn’t get the care they deserved. They pay may be good, but it’s not worth your mental health! 

I loved working here at first the residents are amazing and I feel like we had a strong team but they continued to cut staffing making people go home on staff reductions daily and adding my responsibilities to our plate with less and less staff.  I did  feel like  my clinical care manager was   great she is very supportive and she cared about the residents truly and her team but since she did they didn’t like her for it.  Above her they are awful  upper management only wants people who are robots to be in her position. Management changes every quarter though so you might eventually for at least a few months get a good one. They don’t want what’s best for the residents, it doesn’t matter how big and beautiful the building is if they have bad employees because they can’t keep the good ones. 

Mandating all staff every day, once your there you never know when you will be able to leave they expect you to live there and never see your family. Even with making staff work 12-16 hours a day the floors all run short and nurses do not help at all. Very cliquey. Reporting problems get ignored too often wth resident concerns or staff. There is a union but it does not help or back you up. Some of the union Stuart's are trying to actually get staff gone more then try to work as a team together. Very childish and petty atmosphere to work in. Each persons work load is too much on a daily base. The Chief Executive of the building doesn't seem to care about the residents or staff there just what the place looks like to get business.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay. But you definitely earn every penny

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Way to much work per individual. 30 residents for 1 person to do cares and pass meds to (night shift, HFA). Mandations. Be prepared to be scheduled for 12 hours and find out in your shift you will be staying 16 hours. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. I work night shift. 6pm to 6am. So basically in 4 hours (because residents are usually in bed by 10pm) I have to do cares and meds for 30 people. Each area is between 15-30 residents. Nights doesn't separate meds and cares between workers. You do both. You can not give residents what they want or need or do it properly with the amount of work they give you
