the company is in constant flux. During my time there I was always being informed on policy changes on a regular basis.  Most of the orginal start up employeess are gone and this has changed the mentality of the company.  At first, this was a company that had the interest of students in mind, but over time they have started to care more about money and treating students like numbers.  The new coordinators in charge have created a toxic work environment where if you don't fit their image of an instructor you were slowly forced out of the company. My last year with the company I had to demand a raise after I had been promised an annual raise each year.  

Another thing to consider is that classroom instruction is on a contract basis. When I started with the company teaching offers were based on senority and performance.  The longer I was with the company I began to see this become less of a standard than who kissed up the teaching coordinator. With masteryprep, performance doesn't mean anything. Also, they will promise summer employment, but the opportunities are few and far between. 

As with the other reviews, communication is sketchy. the reason being is they put countless emails on just a handful of people. This problem caused several top ntocu employees to walk away from the company. You are often left in the dark on due dates, policy changes, or left to improvise lessons.  

In the end, the classroom experience is amazing and the connections you make with you students is life changing. however, the people currently in charge are running the company into the ground, and they are continuing to bring in individuals who will only bring down the brand. stay away.

I worked in APC at Masteryprep as a full-time employee. My title was “Developer” which consisted of writing and editing curriculum.

After working for over a year, the department let go of 90% of the full-time-employees in one fell swoop. I witnessed MP cutting people without warning, probation, or an improvement plan over the course of the last year. Everyone who was fired said that it was completely unexpected and they had not been given fair warning.

My impression is that leadership does not value people at all. There are maybe three people that seem to matter, and if you’re not one of them, you’re just seen as a drudge worker. 

The pay was never that great, but it was a flexible job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not knowing how to script your “re-teach”training sessions for new positions even your initial position. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing work environment and culture at the MasteryPrep. Very bubbly personalities and very helpful administrators. From top down this company is one big family. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Facilitators - fly or drive out to your assigned destination event. Stay over night at a hotel. All included. Get to the event early and facilitate with high energy and enthusiasm. After 6 hrs your free to either do another event or travel back home.

A typical day of work consists of a lot of tasks for me. I usually start my day by checking emails and having a morning huddle with management, to check on the day's priorities. I work on the priorities, and then I start fulfilling the purchase orders that we get in throughout the day. Once the mail comes, I get a lot of testing in, so I start the testing and analysis process (grade tests).  Throughout all of this, my coworkers make my job more manageable by joking around and helping me when I absolutely need it. The hardest part of my job is the heavy lifting of books when I need to fulfill an order with a lot of workbook sets. The most enjoyable part is getting to interact with our customers.

MasteryPrep has alot of instructors and teachers that you can learn from. Training and professional development is always fun and inclusive. They will pay for travel expenses including your hotel stay. I did not like the fact that you would not know if you  had a job the following school year until the school reinstated the contract with the company.  You may be required to travel to 2 different schools per day.  And each school has its own guidelines that you have to follow. 

Management was slow to respond to request. Payment for work for slow or ignored. The work culture was ignored. I learned the importance of details from MP's administration. They did not provide it thus I learned on a day to day learning curve.

I learned to manage my time and be super prepared each day. The most enjoyable portion of the job is the students.

MasteryPrep gives me an opportunity as an event facilitator to make a difference in the lives of students at a critical point in their educational experience.  My trainers and support staff have been very professional as well as supportive of me whenever I have reached out for help.  My work schedule is very flexible and my compensation is good.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at MasteryPrep.

A very unstable company. Entrepreneurs that created a business with no education background. If you are a retired teacher you will realize immediately they are in a constant state of confusion within the company.

Although I loved the flexibility of my position, I often felt I had to act or be someone I wasn't to fit in and be accepted. It often felt like advancement was based more on who you knew rather than your qualifications. Management would not listen and made decisions and reacted based on assumption and emotion rather than facts.

Loved my time here. There were a lot of changes and things got a little chaotic. Everyone who works there are great people. Laid back culture but very focused on the mission. Very talented group of teammates and for the most part collaborative environment. Remote working very flexible and no micromanaging. Benefits are just okay. No sick time. It’s built into PTO (supposedly).
