Overall, working with residents is a breeze. Most of them are so pleasant and respectful! I enjoyed building a rapport with them. Co-workers who worked the floor were all fine with me. Working with nursing staff was great..we kept each other motivated to push through the toughest days, which was most of them! Staffing here is horrible. "They" honestly have shown no concern for the nursing staff working short..all while expecting every T to be crossed and I dotted! Claims to schedule according to the residents' needs is bologna! SOME Nurses HAVE to work 2 floors, sometimes without a CMT. When suggestions have been made to the administrator, she blows people off and rushes them out of her office as if what they're saying isn't of any importance. She has a lack of respect for the nursing staff. But you can't expect her to have much with , no medical background whatsoever. Only a select few staff members can be permanent on their floors, everyone else has to float the building. That's completely fair, right? There's no freedom to have conversations among one another on the first floor because there's an informant {social worker} that goes out of her way to email every conversation she eaves drops on..just to start unnecessary mess! This would be an amazing place to work, if there was mutual respect, fairness, better staffing and no drama. 

An typical day at work started off normal i would come in and make dish water and turn on the dishwasher, wash all the overnight dishes and the the breakfast dishes. once that was done i swept the floors, took out the trash and after washing my hands i would clean the freezer and refrigerator then the last thing i would do befor lunch is Mop the entire Kitchen and then go and eat lunch. After Lunch i would repeat the process over two more times for Lunch and finally Supper. My supervisors were always laid back and never too hard on us unless a client complained. The hardest part of the job was cleaning the grease traps and emptying the grease and cleaning the old gunk and crust off of the back of stoves and walls. I enjoyed the Laid back nature of the job i could work at my own pace and never had to rush unless it was an important banquet going on.

This facility overall is a nice place to work. It's clean and  the residents are kind. The management is what makes this place a terrible place to work. They are very disrespectful to their employees. Knowing how short staffed they are, they will NOT come and help out on the floor when needed. They would rather let one nurse maintain 3 Floors...most times WITHOUT a CMT or CNA!! (They also let one CMT work the floor alone!!) They don't care how unsafe this is. They are constantly losing employees because they mishandle them. Overworking, underpaying, gossiping, and throwing their employees under the bus if there's a hiccup in the day. The administrator and ADON have very poor attitudes and threatening people is their only strategy to gain control of situations. Once there are better people put in management positions, I'd recommend this facility to any and everyone. But until management changes, don't waste your time unless you like to be mistreated.

The best part of working at McKnight Place was your DON is very receptive to speaking. With staff and working toward a resolve. The DON and Administrator provided an open- door policy.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of the job was redirecting Residents with Alzheimer's and/or dementia - but that does come with the territory.  The comfort was the assistance provided by my CNAs - I had the most competent CNAs employed at the time that I was a Nurse there at the time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment felt inclusive - everyone worked together in fulfilling the mission of supporting and maintaining dignity and respect in providing care for each Resident. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day was coming in getting report and giving report to CNAs, then providing care according to MAR /TAR and as needed.

This is one of the worst places I’ve ever worked as a nurse in my life! The actual work is easy, the residents are what keep the staff there and involved, but overall this place is horrible! No incentives on why to even continue to go to work, management make up stuff as they go. Nothing that you do is ever enough, they don’t have shift differentials nor weekend differentials, they will throw you under the bus whenever STATE comes in. The facility is literally just running, no protocols, and the ADON and DON sitting in meetings all day everyday about budget when the residents pay more than enough for them to be taken care of properly. We are UNDERSTAFFED regularly!!!! They don’t care about their employees, they don’t follow up on things that are important ! This is a makeover job, it looks nice the people that work her have great vibes but the overall company IS horrible AND PHONY!!! if you get a call from them RUN RUN RUN AND RUN SOME MORE!!!

The Activities department is a blast to work in. It feels like a family!! The activities director is super flexible with the schedule, always having it out early and accommodating to requests off, and is someone you can come to about any issue, work related or not! The work is fun and you are given the ability to be creative and come up with events and programs to run. The residents here are fun to talk to and have great personalities which makes it easy to run discussions, games, and other activities. The hardest part of the job are the stressful days that seem chaotic, just like any job, but even on those days everyone is understanding and works together. I have learned so much about dementia and Alzheimer's just from working here! This facility has come a long way since the start of Covid and overall a great place to work.

It was a beautiful place, I liked the co workers that worked with me in the kitchen. Enjoyed the resident.

I did not care for a lot of the nursing staff. Especially the people who worked during week days. They were very rude to the people in the kitchen. Especially supervisory positions.

It was kind of stressful. However it was also a home away from home. I loved the residents and the people I worked with in my department. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
We would have to go through security, at the time we had to wear face masks. Then we would clock in and report to our department. It was a clean place, nice vending machines, an ATM machine. I recommend all that stuff.

Micro manage the pay both treatment of employees all the benefits not fair with promotions this place is a revolving door not fair and not a good place to work

Everything some employees are getting away with breaking a lot of rules and some employees can't break any rules

The work environment is severely stressful can enjoy a break someone's always looking over your shoulder watching every move that you make for some employees

Very stressful and very depressing on a day-to-day basis a lot of good employees not aren't recognized for a job well done

It's a good job but the management is horrible. None of them besides 3 know how to talk to people. The new DON is horrible and has ran all the old people away. The administrator only cares about how the place looks and not the employees. It's not assisted living It's actually long-term care residents there.  They have an amazing housekeeping team but it's not enough of them to keep the place actually clean. The food that they make the staff buy for lunch is garbage. Also they bring new people in making a lot more money then the old staff and won't up the pay of the old staff. This place would be be much better if they brought in a completely new management team and that includes the administrator. 

When I first started this position, I was working full time. As time went on, and I continued to work for them, the respect for employees dissipated and the true colors and true intentions started to show itself from all sides. Management helps you when you benefit them. But when you do not benefit management, they are less likely to work with you. I was lied to, completely about the staffing ratio (although that's common in the healthcare field). We were also left to train others, in areas we were hardly trained in. So the all around experience is....if you don't mind the little pay, for the huge amount of disrespect you are shown.....this job is all for you!
