The pay scale is great and benefits are good, but don’t let the job posting fool you, the outage season is every day the will bring you in saying summers and winters are 4 10s lies most of the winter and summer you will work 50+ hours. Especially on Cnc side. As soon as management sees you are getting ahead more work will magically arrive and you will be shoved back into 60 hour weeks. Most of the employees are miserable and strongly dislike upper management. 

Take a job here if you’d like to miss out on your time with your loved ones. Take it if you want to feel stressed to the point of crying each month. Take this job if you want to be expected to work for weeks, or even months without a day off. Better hope you learn by watching! Little or no training, You have to figure it out yourself. Horrible intracompany communication including blatant lying, and intracompany finger pointing and whistle blowing. Company culture is unacceptably poor from literally the top down. Treat workers like cattle. 

They lied in the interview about what machines I would be on and the insane overtime. They tell you it’s 3 months at a time of 7 days a week and they will never ask more than 10 hours. They demand that you work doubles and tell you as you’re clocking out on Friday that you have to work Saturday and Sunday. They forget to bring you an order until the end of your shift then tell you that you have to stay til it’s done even if it takes til midnight. 

Management encouraging people to take shortcuts. Quality is consistently being ignored. Always being threatened of layoffs. No respect for managers to employees. Does not matter how much skills or knowledge a employee has if one manager does not like you for personal reasons. All professionalism is overlooked and his personal option is to let you go with so-called "Random Layoffs".

When I was first hired it wasn't bad but now the engineers are managing the people on the floor and it isn't uncommon to work months without a day off working 70 plus hours a week. Then once the work is done you get sent home early with no pay and don't know how many hours you will be working on a daily basis. The work itself is great though and most of the people are good.

Not having any time off from all the overtime you work

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, and high strung

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours. Lot of hurry up and wait jobs. Most of the time you’re standing around waiting for dimensions for a part to be made.

Great job the 1st 15 yrs. not so much the last one
Worked with some good people and work was interesting.
Made you use your mind, reading the OEM blueprints for power plants and turbines. But in the end, new management was brought in and system changed and the fun was gone. So I retired, and now I'm ready to re enter into the workforce.

This is a company that does not have a lot of bureaucracy or roadblocks to doing what is needed. It has many OEM people and that drives some the culture but there are many in leadership that are not from the OEM. It is owned by an OEM but behaves as an independent company in most ways. Overall, an excellent place to work.

Most of the leadership is pretty good people.

The leadership that isn’t good.

Pretty laid back for the most part. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12hrs a day 7 days a week. Busy.

I honestly love working for MD&A- they've given me an amazing opportunity. Great People. Competitive Pay.  Good Work Life Balance. I feel like I can voice my opinion and it's heard and respected.
