A typical day at work, was constantly worrying what we were going to be in trouble for that day. 

I learned how to be professional in dealing with certain situations that weren't to my liking.

The management is terrible. In the 3 yrs I worked there we went through 3 managers and 3 supervisors, and when they decide to come in the dept, it's very rare to hear positive feedback. It seems all they have time to do is have meetings, and do audits... 

Co workers were good.. We mostly all have the same personality so it was easy to get along with them

Hardest part of my job was dealing with the stress of just coming into work.. You never know when you're going to have a meeting with management. And when you got in trouble it was from 2 or 3 months ago where you couldn't remember why you did what you did because it had been so long. 

The most enjoyable part is interacting with each other the employees were super nice there. And the patients were nice too. If you wanted to  take a break or get away for a little bit you could go talk to a patient and make them feel better. It was rewarding in the sense that you knew they felt better when you left the room.

I would start my 12 hour shift at 0630. It was my job to check on the patients and preform vital signs, and chart the results.  I would then be called to different rooms to assist the patients with using the bath room, giving baths, and attending to their well being and making them as comfortable as possible.  I would sometimes have to sit with a patient who was suicidal, or had overdosed on drugs.  I would also be sent to other floors to assist the nurses there.  I have also been sent to NICU to assist with feeding and caring for infants.  I have worked with PEDI with the toddlers.
I have learned to work with different machines that make taking vital signs easier, learned to accept people with different opinions from mine. I learned to multitask quite a bit.  Enjoyed most of the co-workers that I worked with. Was able to get along with management just fine.  The hardest part of the job was,  dealing with the relatives of the person who was dying.  The most enjoyable part of the job was the patients who were upbeat anytime you saw them and the people being released to go home.  I also enjoyed working in NICU and PEDI.

Many of the managers and educators have very little actual nursing experience, which leads to a situation where no one knows what  they are doing.  Assistant CNOs and many of the nursing directors have about 2 years of floor experience, and the educators even less.  The educators do not educate, they teach endless CPR classes and Nursing Orientation, since the turnover rate is so high.  They do not spend time on the floor helping nurses understand their jobs.  It is a joke.  I learned from old nurses with many years experience, and you cannot find this at MCH.  In fact, the smarter and more experienced you are, the less likely you are to be in a position of teaching and helping others.  They seem to only put those with very little experience in leadership positions. 
Nurses have 6-7 patients a piece, which is way too many- while all the while piling more and more for the nurse to do, without the adequate tools to do so.  The computers don't work, so you cant do your job.  There is an atmosphere of bullying and retaliation among leaders that regular folks cannot break through. If you are not in their clique, you will never be promoted.

Worked here over 30 yrs in critical care. The last 10 years have been like watching a train wreck. There are very good bedside nurses/staff. However, middle management has destroyed any hope and has sucked the life out of the hospital. Problems start with the administrator and seep into every level in every department. They spend money on programs trying to change the negative culture but management, both lower and upper, are the main problems. Slogans and acronyms cannot fix what these employees must endure. They are putting up buildings and clinics around town. Meanwhile, trashing employees!! Coffee is no longer free. There is no longer tuition reimbursement. No longer financial awards for extra credentials. Lifetime retirement that was awarded to employees hired before 1993 have been notified that that will no longer be honored. They do not respect past employee any more than they do current employees! And you had better believe, they will not respect future employees!!

The morning would be to identify new patients on the list. Identify room number and diagnosis. The supervisor and I would make contact with patient and discuss their case. Also, if there was a discharge in future, where would they be comfortable at home or nursing home. I learned that a patient is quite vulnerable during their illness especially a trauma patient. My co-workers were team players and would cover for the social worker that wasn't available that day.The hardest part of the job is to visit the patients that are unable to communicate due to a head injury or a patient in a coma. The family must make decision to let go of their loved one. The most enjoyable part of job the postpartum unit where there are babies with their moms. The parents proud of their child.

My typical day at work was from 7am to 3pm. 
I learned that people had to be took care of-as a transporter-you had take the patient to and from radiology tests. Had to do errands on each floor of the hospital including getting supplies to each floor of the hospital that were needed when the floor would call.
The management there would be great until something happened to shake them up. They were not focused on the employee's wellbeing but the patient.
The workplace was very quick paced and not so much stressful as learning to work with many people and getting along with each one.
The hardest part of the job was getting the patient to and from the testing in Radiology as sometimes the Radiolody department would be backed up and then transporting the patients back up in time. Plus, the walking distance a day at work sometimes was 45-70 miles a day within the hospital never counted the steps but should have.
The most enjoyable part was helping patients and getting to know the people who I worked with.

A typical day at work is normally quite eventful. It will start with coffee and a morning meeting, then you'll rush off to complete your daily tasks. Projects will be thrown in to the mix and these plus your usual work keep you busy until lunch. Once you're back, you will continue with your tickets and nearing 5 o'clock, when you're ready to kick back and relax, someone will send a high priority update that breaks every application in the hospital. Keeping you there until it's finished. You can't leave this place without a little excitement before the end of the day.

I learned how to be politically correct around upper management.

The co-workers are absolutely the best part of the establishment.

The hardest part of the job, is definitely the job.

The most enjoyable part of the job is being thanked by the end users after solving an unbeatable issue on their work station.

A typical day at work exhausting but easy , I learned how to safely and properly mix cleaning chemicals and properly and safely clean isolation, surgery, labor an delivery, I.V, and checkout rooms among all other Ares of The Hospital, Operation of UV light, My co-workers were great to work with very Friendly, Kind and helpful in my learning proses, the hardest thing about my job was the heavy cleaning carts they were as big as bar b q grills, the most enjoyable part of my job was meeting new people and knowing my job assisted in the patients care and healing proses as well as caring for their needs

A typical day at work is processing specimens, answering phone calls, helping out where needed if my area is slow. Assisting the interns and doctors with microscopy in Hematology and Gram stains when I am in Microbiology. Answering questions from ER and the nurses on the floors and ER.
Being a Generalist in all the laboratory departments except Blood Bank I have learned how to organize my time to be efficient and helpful. And my coworkers have the same work ethic. I have also learned about problem solving.
One could never ask for a better supervisor and management.
The hardest part of the job there was none work is work.
The most enjoyable part of my job was my coworkers, since we all regarded ourselves as family.

I worked here as a CNA, Nursing Intern, and a RN. No one in management knows their butts from a hole in the ground. No one takes responsibility for their team or work. Will place blame on anyone they can. Will float inexperienced nurses to critical care but wont let them transfer to different departments. Will not provide proper training for individuals who volunteer to float unless the employee pays for it themselves. Nurse to patient ratio is always 1:6 if you work on floors that the house supervisor doesn't care for. Lots of favoritism among directors and upper management. I do not recommend working here unless you want to be used and abused by patients, coworkers, physicians, and directors. Even when you have a ligament complaint, you are not listened to and nothing is EVER done about it.
