This Company which is also called MDS is the worst place to work ever. The 1st thing is that your job isnt secure. Which ive always hit my goal to save my seat (save your job you must hit a monthly quota). Ive always also hit my bonus but i was never given a bonus check out of 10 months because the higher management has their picks and favorites on who to give it to.. They will lie and tell you that you missed your bonus by a few dollars so that they can give it to someone else who has been there longer. If youve been there every day, making lots of money and doing what youre suppose to do, then you KNOW you hit your bonus and everybody else as well. Also , ALL of the Team Leads  are Uneducated and dont know what theyre doing. That is the down fall of the company. If they would take the time to train their supervisors and leads as much as they would gossip about their Saturday night, then everyone would be successful. Growth within the company is a JOKE. They will offer you a higher position with the same pay and more responsibilities..Hilarious!!  Co workers are very Rude, they dont speak and its a very high gossip men and women environment.  Management are rude and nasty to you. When you ask a question the Team leads dont know the answer to, so they will give you the incorrect information..which leads to YOU getting in trouble. And they never take the blame for it. The pay is terrible for all of the yelling and pressure the managers put on you. Its not worth it at all. If you decide to work for Medical Data Systems make sure its only for 1 to 5 months if you can take the rudeness..

Job consists of calling people nationwide and requesting that they pay their past due hospital bills in full. If they are not able to pay in full, you request that they set up payment arrangements. 

I learned about the collections business and how to deal with people over the phone who owe money.

Management is wonderful and supportive. They strive to help you obtain the goal of collecting the required amount each month. Management is very hands on and acknowledges quickly when you have been successful at collecting. Management makes hourly announcements of praise for top collectors over the intercom.

Co-workers are very supportive of each other and new employees. After your first collection of $1,000 all your co-workers cheer your accomplishment as this is a huge milestone.

The hardest part of the job is collecting money from people who don't want to pay their bills and being cursed at by them over the phone. Some days it seems you are called names constantly from the people you call.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the camaraderie, the monthly awards presentations to employees, helping people to reduce their debts by helping them set up payment arrangements.

Calling people all day long to see if the company collect the money from people that had a bill will the hospital and try to let them know that they had another bill to pay and see what kind of arrangements we could offer them to collect the money from them. Another choice people had was to pay every month weekly or bi-week an amount of money if they cant pay in full their medical expenses from the hospital and we send mail to them s they could be inform and how many months they had to pa the medical bill.  Medical Data System always gave the people 3 months to pay full or longer the company made any arrangements with them before the medical account will go to another collection office or to their credit repot office Equifax.  learn a lot from this company manage confidentially all the office information my co-worker help me when I first got in the Company thy explain very good how the company work and were very nice and polite to me and gave me a good welcome to the company love working for them it was like a family to me the hard part was taking the test in the computer I never took a test in computers before and this was my first time in my life working with computer I explain to them and the supervisor send me someone to help me out and my experience was excellent that's what I like to learn things that I don't know and how fast I learn to they like that.  I enjoy every day of my job it was fun talking to different people around United States of America.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The money is great and if you can work for a company that has long hours and only values it's employees when they are producing results and not when something happens like being sick and having to miss a day of work for legitimate reasons. Then go for it. You can make a lot of money here but they are only results driven and don't really care about you. You constantly get cussed at and hung up on by the people your calling and occasionally every one out of 30-40 people you talk to will pay their bill. HR will pretend to be interested in your situation but will throw you out first chance they get. Just be careful and proceed with caution. I would recommend the insurance side of the company before anything else. Private Pay is a ridiculous department to work for that will steal your peace and take your happiness. I'm so happy I'm not there anymore. It's amazing that when I left the company all the health things going on magically stopped and cleared up.

Having to meet a goal every month or you would get written up.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company only cares about themselves. They are open to hire all kinds of different people but they aren't an employee driven company. They will write you up until you get fired if you don't meet your monthly goal for collecting.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Monday to Friday with one or two late days a week. Off on weekends. You get one hour for lunch.

This company is terrible to work for. They claim you make so much working there which was a lie! If you do not collect techinally over 21,000.00 dollars a month in hospital bills you will lose your job. The management is poor too. They have you working on a dialer all day long that you aren't expected to leave unless it's lunch (bathroom breaks are highly frowned upon). While you are on the phone dialer, with one earpiece to hear with, the two managers make loud and very long announcements all day long over a PA system about what they expect you to collect which causes you to not be able to hear the debtor who is probably cursing you out for even calling to collect a hospital bill. They lie to you about the commission too, if you do not collect the expected amount then you make no commission at all, doesn't matter if you off by one cent. The pay per hour is low for work condition, not to mention the manager acts like a child, she runs through the cubicles talking like a redneck and being silly and distracting which makes it hard to hear someone across the USA over the dialer-- very unprofessional! Then the other manager, he is a jerk. He takes you into his office alone and will insult you like crazy while trying to flirt. He is very rude and ignorant, he never makes any sense and no matter you say, do, or how educated you are... YOU are the idiot and he is god sent. This company is terrible and unless you are ok with getting cursed out 8 hrs a day by debters and managment, do not waste your time.

Typical day Mon-Friday 8AM-5PM
2-(15 mins) breaks in between if lucky!
Learned to be on the Defensive line and what if feels like walking on broken egg-shells at all times. 
Management- (Very Unprofessional) they Laugh out-loud and speak badly and make fun of their own employees at times loud enough to be heard. 
Work Culture- HOSTILE-Prison like environment!
Hardest Part of the Job is not being able to take a FULL day off to manage personal life without having being written up for Not having enough PTO personal time off as they Only allow you 4-hours per Month! Meaning if you are sick a whole day and you don't have the time available to stay home from being sick-which no-one schedules, expect a write up, if you land in hospital -You may be just fired or Pushed to Quit!
Management - No communication skills what so ever, if you ask "too many"questions they consider you a problem!, One is not allowed to communicate with Peers even in break room otherwise You are considered a Gossiper.
Enjoyed- Lunch hour -away from building and  receiving what I EARNED every other Friday!

Calling insurance companies and trying to touch at least 50 claims per day for quota.
Learned about hospital billing and claims/appeals process to get revenue

The one manager who trained me originally to do claims could have been more straightforward - all the new people though she was confusing and I think that hurt a lot of the new people. She is no longer there - they should explain claims life cycle and top ten denial reasons for training and then what steps to resolve at least top ten dial reasons.
Workplace culture - sometimes cliques of workers and very strick attendance policy and sticklers on rules. You are sometimes written up for very simple offenses
Hardest part of job when you cant get thru to insurance co. or computer issues so had to fight to fill quota sometimes.
Enjoyed time with my coworkers, managers and working on the computer, nice location in downtown area

Unattainable goals, you are in training for seven months!! REALLY., You get low amount claims and they tell you that you need to collect $5,000.00 the first month (on $100.00 claims do the math)!! The second months goes up even higher to collect for that month and so on. If you don't meet your goal they devise for you in three months then you are terminated.... They will write you up on anything they can micro manage you for. They have fuzzy math calculations they call "fees", which is how you collect bonuses. They want you to collect  money on claims that are up to 15 years old... They have their favorites and they have an attainable Que. You are placed in a "baby" Que, and they love to call you "new bees" on a daily basis several times. They are insulting and talk behind your back including managers. This was the most unprofessional atmosphere I have ever worked in. Giving them a one is way better that what they deserve which is a ZERO.... No advancement opportunities if you wanted to suffer at this place for any length of time.

You get to work around 12:00 in the afternoon because since you are new, you get the last shift. Nobody says hi because everyone is so focused on getting money. Oh yeah...there is a quota! They don't tell you that in the interview. If you don't meet the quota, you lose your job. When you figure out there is a quota, they give you the "Oh don't worry about the quota. You are safe within your first 90 days". That is complete bull. I was fired after 2 months. That way, I can't ask for unemployment. They do provide "training" the first week. Then you are basically on your own. Good luck! The whole day you will find yourself looking at the time to see when your net break is. Call after call after call until your break. Think about how you would get if you were being harassed for a bill every 10 days. Yeah, that's what the "guarantor" says to you on almost every call. Like I said, worst job EVER!

I worked here just over 90 days, and honestly, I couldn't leave soon enough.  The coworkers are amazing, and don't deserve the abuse they receive from the mangement. The managment prioritises attendance over the physical and mental welfare of their workers. I was always on time, never called out and the one day I called out for being sick, I was written up under the guise of a 'verbal warning'. I was repremanded in front of my entire department for something my manager later stated as 'no big deal.' 

If you miss a day, and don't have the PTO to cover it, you are required to make up the hours for the work you missed; however you can only make up 4 hours in a month, and it can only be made up during the week of the day you missed. And you don't start accuring PTO until after your 90 days. 

The people there are overworked, underappreciated, and the management cares more about the month end profits than the people who help them get there.
