What is the best part of working at the company?
Close to home and some supervisors are supportive.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some supervsors let staff keep their halls and stay on a cart and others make you leave if the person that normally has that cart comes in partway through your shift.   When short staffed and they can't get a registry or coverage, they split 3 halls between 2 nurses without extra pay.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful. Always wondering what hall you're being pulled to, if just 1 hall or 1 1/2, how many admits you have, (one night most of us had 2).

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Report, med pass till somewhere around 2200 to 2300 depending on pt load and acuity, charting  w pain pills scattered through the shift. I usually have time for supper around 0200 to 0300 for 30 min then back to finishing up charting and getting dressings ready for treatments. About 0430, I start dressings and treatments,  then the 0600 med pass.  Finally,  give report when day shift arrives.

This facility demand overtime!    Although if you are in the clique, the frequent overtime does not apply to you ..,The CNAs are unfriendly for the most part, talk behind your back and generally make the job miserable for a RN .. There is no respect !  Constantly low on supplies and a nurse needs to improvise on a regular basis .. Room for  advancement is there but only if you belong to the clique..   They have pretend employee appreciation events that apply to the day shift and not to the night shift .. They pull residents into the unhealthy culture to gang up on certain staff !  It’s an unpleasant place to work .. Bottomline , if you are not in their little clique, that includes the Administrator and DON, then hang it up .. You will never ever be liked and they will stab you in the back ..  BTW :  I was not fired or ever was disciplined.. I kept my mouth shut .. 
Oh one more thing, they forced me to work while I had COVID !  Isn’t there a law against that ?  I promptly gave them my resignation! 

Typical day is very stressful. This company is pays low wages. The CNA's are overworked and underpaid. The aides on the East Wing are very unfriendly and provide pericare to patients with the doors open. Some of the aides are friendly while most are not. The patients abuse the aides. This place has large roaches in patients rooms. The management and nurses are very unprofessional.  Poor air conditioning throughout the facility. The Housekeeping is really bad. Housekeeper looked at spill on the floor and kept walking: Nurse had to page housekeeper to clean up spill. Most of the aides will not speak to you. Constantly destaffed if you are a PCA.

A day at Melbourne Terrace was to arrive on time and have meetings in the morning, arrive at my work station and do my job accurately and right. When done with my job, I would assist others in their job. 
  I learned how every patient has a different diet and that one has to be very careful with reading the selections patients of food, depending on their health. My co-workers were very nice. The hardest part of the job was when a patient would want something to eat that was not allowed in their diet, and trying to make them happy with the selections they are given.
  The most enjoyable part of the job for me was to help the elderly.

No matter how much experience or advanced skills you have, you will never get ahead unless you are part of the "clique".  Turnover is remarkable -- some nurses and CNA's don't stay a month at their position. Long hours, no REAL appreciation. CNA's sleep at night, some residents don't receive their medications, and resident falls are a regular thing. The schedule is crazy because the person in charge of scheduling has no training and no idea what she's doing.  The floors are sparkling clean, which is very deceiving.  Just to remind you that everything that sparkles is not gold.  Don't be fooled.  It's not what it seems.  

This place has soooo much potential! The rehab gyms and facility are gorgeous but the care is just simply lacking largely due to being understaffed in both rehab and nursing departments. Very poor moral everywhere I felt due to everyone is overworked and overwhelmed. Very unfriendly staff when starting and felt very unwelcome among staff that had been there a long time. They should value PRN staff more since they are so overworked. I felt like a glorified CNA as most therapy sessions were getting my patients up and cleaned and or dressed for the day. Would check back hours later and they are still lying in bed. Very frustrating place to work that made me feel sad .

They are like family and care about the employees. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nursing is inherently stressful, no matter the location.  Dealing with unrealistic expectations of family members is stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very supportive of employees.  Culture of caring.  Very good staffing ratios. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go in at 730 am and review charts and check in with staff. Go to morning meeting then clinical meeting.  Assist nursing staff as needed with any issues or complaints.

Overall a pretty good place to work. 3-11 shifts need on site management. Some staff members become lazy once management leaves for the day . Nurses are hard working.  There needs to be more team effort with cnas .  Nurses have a huge load of work which in my opinion needs to be lessened so tasks can be carried out more carefully and not be afraid of being written up for something that was missed . What I have experienced with administration is they have been fantastic during the whole covid pandemic. 

I was thrown on the floor as a new nurse only after 3 days of training with one being split between 3 different nurses in one night because they were short staffed. Nurses are able to come in late with no penalty when you are trying to get report to go home. They are not flexible at all when it comes to people going to school or people with families. The schedule is fixed so no real flexibility when it comes to getting days off. Don’t expect good pay either. I learned a lot at this place but would not recommend this facility to anyone to work here.

The patients and employees were my best part of working there.Pay is horrible and management is also horrible

Management does not listen or care about there workers

New management is bringing the place down.It used to be nice to work there
