Each day when patients, providers, case management, risk management need additional information to make the patient stay as comfortable as possible I am willing and able to assist with any and all documentation required to complete the patient stay.
The community is served with a 98% accuracy rate to avoid and keep complaints down to a minimum. 
100% cooperation is the hardest part of the assignment when team members are not willing to serve.
The best part of the job is when the team members are all working on one accord, with one purpose and one direction, patient care.

Never a day that is not rewarding. Memorial Hospital of Gardena challenges you everyday, from the moment you put your foot inside the door until the very second you leave it for the day. Mainly because of it's geographic location. This organization is surrounded with skilled nursing facilities peppered with long term care facilities. The patient population we serve is not exactly the most alert and healthy ones nor the most compliant ones. They come from all walks of life, including the ones coming from the underserved communities who usually require more assistance than just plain healthcare. This place makes you ponder for a moment whether you have a calling to serve, a calling to be compassionate, a calling to become the best possible version of yourself - because that is just the expectation, to be able to deliver the best and compassionate care possible.

Working for Gardena Memorial Hospital gave me a deep sense of awareness of how clients should be treated in the hospital.  You would give special customer service to people who were being admitted into the hospital, to their families members who came to visit, to external and internal customers including my co-workers.   A typical day would be working in the Nursing Administration office compiling reports, preparing a PowerPoint presentation for the new employees orientation, organized a customer service committee for  Med Surgery, Emergency Unit, Nursery and Telemetry. Assist the CEO with fresh ideas on customer service techniques to advance the quality of the hospital.  Create a newsletter each week of the happenings at Gardena. I like most about my job was to make sure that the quality of great customer service was render to all.

The Company as whole should be review every 3-6 months due to policies and procedures not being followed by Staff, Higher Management or Executive Level Employees. 
Work life balance is horrible, no consideration for illnesses or Parenting complications. No set schedule, ever changing shifts and demands from higher level management that seems to never be resolved. 
Being in the office 6/7 days a week, you will start noticing the office politics, gossipy employees, inadequate training, limited resources, dated procedures, and bad management which becomes visible and apparent quick.

gardena is a great place for new grads because you get to experience different types of cultures, you will learn a lot about nursing in your first year for sure, and also sometimes you get thrown into assignments that you haven't experienced. I started working there 2 months after graduating my ADN program and I got 6 weeks of training, then I took my own assignments. the nurses are willing to help each other. the working environment can be stressful depending on patient load. you get to experience the mental health aspect of nursing even though there isn't a mental health unit. sometimes the people in administration do not protect their staff from the constant verbal and physical abuse from the patients r/t the fact that patient safety comes before staff safety.

I worked here as a new grad, and didn't know any better. Patient population is very difficult to work with. The doctors actually make your job harder by not rounding on their patients, not giving appropriate orders, and ignoring nurses concerns. Administration and house supervisors can be bullies. As a new grad I did not feel supported and felt like I was put in dangerous situations. No break nurses. Nurses were expected to use a "buddy system" for lunch. That meant while your coworker was on lunch, you could be responsible for 10 patients as an RN. The hospital is old and everything is outdated. Having the hospital and nursing experience I have now, I just shake my head at the things I had to endure while working here.

My typical work day at Memorial Hospital of Gardena starts at around 6:30am 90% of the time my job has zero to no down as I am the direct management for a team of 18 people within the HIM office. 

This job has been a great learning tool for me and I felt able to grow in my job under the wing of my CEO & CFO as well as those who owned the Hospital as the ownership is very hands on.

The hardest part of my job is learning to step away from work when I'm away from the office this is both at night or long weekends. I always feel that I must stay in contact with those who report to me as well as Hospital Administration.


I felt appreciated at work & that if I had a suggestion it would be considered. It was a less competitive work environment. It felt more like a family. I loved my supervisor she was fair & never took sides. She would make it a point to congratulate aswell as reward goo work.   
If it was non-stop in ER she might buy lunch for the department out of her own pocket. every holiday was festive.She was truly the easiest boss I ever worked for. She would let you know that you had someone in your corner if & when the was a dispute, problem or complaint.

This place has been extremely stressful since day one. Lacks basic resources, understaffed, outdated, unethical doctors, and no formal policies in place. Very unorganized and no one is willing to help. They just expect you to figure it out. The population can also be challenging. They want patients in and out, don’t care how you do it. The only positive side is they are flexible with schedules when something personal comes up and a few nice staff members. Other than that, not worth it! Other hospitals are way more organized and supportive of their staff.

Working under pressure, environment was very bad under the director no matter how was my effort to do my job director never satisfied with my job, to me it was the worse job I ever had

Office job clerk on my daily bases

Faxes, answer phone calls, going to the floors looking for patient charts, and many other assignments
