I was part of a 6 month internship for this company and it was enjoyable throughout. The interns would hold weekly get togethers at bars across the city which really facilitates making friends particularly when you come from across the world like I did. The company promotes this behavior by having a Merck sponsored events. My office was very friendly, even though at times there was a language barrier they tried their hardest to include me in everything. The work was flexible, you can arrive as early as 6 am and leave as late as 8 so long as there was another employee in the lab, which there typically was. The work was at times challenging, at times interesting, and a few other times a little dull but typically it was nice. Work is done in a clean room environment, at least with the area I was in, and all the clothes are provided for you. Overall, it was a great experience.

Production Operator/Technician tasked with manufacturing research grade enzymes and proteins using various purification techniques.  Relaxed atmosphere in the plant that I work, and the majority of the employees are cordial and supportive.  Systems constantly changing and evolving which thwarts mastering them, which in turn leads to disengagement and anguish.  Bureaucratic red tape is a common nuisance.  Some of the work is rather archaic, nasty, and messy, but it is production work and that is to be expected.  Pay is low-average for what is expected.  Good benefits, average raises, generous 401k, good bonuses, good PTO.

Was hoping this was the place to plant some roots and retire from.  Decent pay, with great benefits.  There are issues with upper management here.  They say they want to care and retain people but their actions don't dictate that whatsoever.  As you grow here you too will learn that some things never change here.  This is because the same group of people make all the decisions.  Hard to overcome change when there isn't any.  With the new added test rat requirements as a condition of employment that makes it very hard to stay.  The new policy will be dictated by whatever the CDC says.  I'm no lab rat and have a choice.  Not okay any which way!

Sadly, the culture has changed dramatically at this company.  The compensation is excellent, but unless you are a favorite, you won't be given opportunities to advance and will miss out of bonus opportunities.  The entire management structure has completely turned upside down with people at the top, now, that have no business managing people.  Many people got laid off recently and those that didn't found other jobs and left the company.  My team of 9 colleagues (10, counting my manager) only has 2 people still remaining.
Pipeline is a lacking a bit, too.

The people, work, and pay are all fitted nicely into a single package. There's important work to be done, and the team and management help us get to that point where we can be independent. We are always learning and adapting our procedures to progress through unforeseen events. Every day presented new challenges, but these were the kind of challenges that we faced together and overcome. Every part of the job was enjoyable, except the overnight schedule for those who prefer to be awake during the day. 

I was chastised for speaking with someone who was two levels above my manager.  My manager had zero experience, but didn’t care about the team’s experience.  Often told us things that were wrong and didn’t want to learn. 

The culture is a how high can you jump approach. Offering advice is frowned upon. It is so political that it make you think about getting a government job.  Lots a smart people who are full of themselves. 

Don’t care about customers. Only focus on money.  It’s a monopoly.

One of the most unprofessional place that doesn’t care about its workers safety

The fact that it comes off like they are a team but they always made the first shift seem like the best shift

Bad they don’t take care of the people they should take care of

If you'd like to work at a company that constantly values its shareholders more than it's employees then work here.  Upper management cares little for anything other than the bottom line.  No degree?  No advancement potential whatsoever.  Constantly pushing inclusivity but shoving the unvaccinated out the door as quickly as possible.  And I haven't even mentioned the hazardous materials.  Great place to work if you can get by all those.  Take it from a long-tenured employee.

Good company for Worl life balance

This company is absolutely ridiculous.  Most coworkers are total jerks and will abuse you every chance they get.  Try to issue a complaint to management and they will advise you to "push it down inside" and just ignore it.  There is also the usual "favorites" game.  If you aren't one of their favorites, then you are stuck in a dead end position for all time.  Truly very little advancement opportunities.  Don't say I didn't warn you.  Worst company I've ever worked for.
