I Yvette Kidd has worked at Methodist Hospital (south lake ) and it is not fun having to work alone with 30 residents, and the Charge Nurse only calls for an extra nurse to work with you what good  was it , they are prejudice and tries to make you settle for less than what you are worth,  and you work forever just to get a decent check watch out for the overtime it a scam .Even  when my year is up for reconsideration in employment ,after being terminated for  request of a reference letter, wanting  to work at another location . I could not return to this place  because it was wrong of meeting the satisfaction of the policies and rules of giving a employee the honor of wanting to work at another location promoting to higher wages and comfort as being a can  according to  having responsibilities of a care plan according to the educational background. Co- worker are only agreeing to your face back stabbers  to get the most out of you  to make a good report for  their promoting and the hardest part  is working there because  of the revise in policies and sudden care plans the nurses and some unit managers attaches  the  non gossip and retain from  mingling with co worker especially if you two can work together.as a worker policy. But  the best part of the job is to  end the day knowing  that you have done a great job and good deeds for the customer, to go home from all the ungreatfulness . every one can not be your friend but they too must stand for what best for them no matter of the time or situation. I loved learning from my co-workers, whom I got along with fantastic!  I loved working for the patients that came into the hospital; giving them a great customer service experience to help with their day was very gratifying.  I learned how to register patients for outpatient testing, inpatient testing, and emergency room visits.  I worked with the EPIC EHR system to register patients, and learned how to use that system quickly.  I learned how to attach multiple insurance to patients medical records.  I would say the hardest part of the job was working in the emergency room when we were extremely busy.  There were a lot of disgruntled patients that had long waits in the emergency room that were none to happy.  I love helping people, so I would diffuse the situation and make my rounds in the waiting room and let them know how much longer they would have to wait.  There were around 19 rooms in the ER, so I would check my computer to see if they had been treated yet to get an idea of how long the patients would be back in the rooms.  I would keep the patients in the waiting room updated on how much longer it would take for them to be called back.  I would check on them regularly and they really appreciated my attentiveness.

Methodist was my first full time permanent employment. I started in the diet office as a floor worker. It was my responsibility to deliver the daily menu section to the in house patients. A lot of them were diabetics and renal patients, so they were frequently upset that they wouldn't always receive the items they would select, so being that calories had to be counted and some had fluid restrictions, i would assist them with their selections so they would receive most of the items they desired. In the diet office, i partly worked as diet clerk as well, and we would verify the patient selections, and we were responsible for checking the tray-line. We had to make sure the diabetics had sweeteners, no sugar, and diet beverages. Certain fruits were restricted on the renal trays, Adolescent and adult psych had to have plastic eating utensils and we had to shift a board for the food on the hot side of the thermal unit and food on the cold side of the unit. I later then transferred to the cafeteria as a cashier. There it was my responsibility to accurately operated cash register, politely serviced customers, cleaned and sanitized all self service equipment, wiped counters, and replenished plastic ware.

	Applies to individual case, through chart review, third payer regulations that govern admissions, continued stay, and discharge. i.e. IS/SI
	Collect data related to clinical improvement initiatives for the purpose of developing action plans.
	Conducts concurrent chart reviews to assure complete and accurate medical records documentation.
	Coordinates the patient’s plan of care with all disciplines of the health care tem including the patient, caregiver and or family members and case management.
	Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment and documentation.
	Interviews and assesses patients to determine potential barriers to timely discharge/transfer to another level of care.
	Provides all payers with accurate, updated information. Obtains covered stay certification and prior authorization as appropriate. 
	Refers cases with appropriate to physician advisor for medical necessity, continued stay, physician education and appropriate level of care.
	Responsible for discharge planning to the appropriate4 level of care, sub acute, hospital units, and outpatient services.

Job consisted of checking-in and checking-out patients, answering phones, making appointments, collecting copays and balancing the register, checking insurances for eligibility, preparing medical records...
I learned to work with EPIC computer system which is very helpful, a lot of healthcare organizations are using it.
The hardest part was the stress caused by the workload. On certain days I was alone, and even when there were 2 of us upfront it was very often hard to answer all the phone calls. Management had absolutely no interest in helping with this, always stating that the numbers don't allow for new hires. Then they would discipline me when patient complained to be left on hold for 15 minutes, even there was no policy in place about how to handle this particular situation (patient on the window in front of me and the phone ringing off the hook incessantly) or many others.
Another difficult part was that I was in between the patients that would ask questions or refills and the doctors that would not answer for weeks.
Maybe it was only my bad luck to work with such doctors.

I was hired and was told my hours would be Tuesday and Thursday part-tine 20 hours a week. After I went through the ENTIRE 24 hours of non pay orientation, and went to my work work station, I was told my hours had been switched and I was to drive from Chesterton to Merrillville 5 days a week for ONLY 4 hours a day.

I explained that wasn't what we talked about at the interview and that is not acceptable because if I would have known and been told that the hours were scheduled like that, I would not have accepted the job having to drive so far for so little pay and for such a short time.

I was told in a ver condescending manner to "go home and sleep on your decision and let me know in the morning." Instead of working with me with hours that was discussed at the interview, I had no choice to but to leave before I even got started.

Everybody there was complaining about their hours being cut also.

On a typical day I go meet with my manager for my assignment, after receiving the assignment I go gather all the equipment I will need for the entire job. If I am working by myself I ask my co-workers I see if my co-workers need any help before I get locked into my work. Since my job is mostly to strip and wax floors the hardest part is the prep that goes into preventing my current work from running off on the previous work I've done, After stripping the floor down for a hour or more I rinse the floor with clean water and after it dries I start laying the wax. The most enjoyable part of my job is looking at the finished product after days of working on a specific cooridore.

I loved my job as neurology/cardiology technician. Some of the aspects of the job were stressful but that's common in a hospital setting. Losing a patient & dealing with those who are extremely ill is not easy, but worthwhile. My boss, at the time I worked there was very understanding of our family lives & if needed, generous with time off or working around the hrs you needed. My coworkers were some of the best people I have ever worked with. We helped each other when our patient load was low. It was a great place to work & I would highly recommend it!

A typical day on an oncology med surg unit includes having 6 patients and expected to cater to the patients and families like a hotel service. Upper management does not listen to nursing concerns about unsafe staffing and pushes for more and more admissions. Orientation for all staff is to have a Disney World-like greeting. For the most part, this is true, however, other departments can be very rude over the phone especially the dietary department. Individual units are very cohesive and work together great. Staffing shortages puts a great strain on remaining staff and is making people leave. Float pool is used to staff units that should be closed, however, management does not want to do that. Therefore, units are understaffed and patients board in ER for hours sometimes even days.

The title is very MISLEADING and the Radiology department is full of DRAMA and old miserable women who need to retire. Methodist Hospitals does NOT care that you have personal issues or even try to help you address them. If you don’t care about an employee as a person and only a worker things will never work, and it needs to be some type of balance. A hospital is nothing but a building with patients and fancy equipment and only thrives based off the type of employees you hire and retain. Every little thing you are getting wrote up for, not once was my work ethic critizied, but my personal character by old miserable women running to the manager telling ever chance they got. What a joke of a job and honestly they didn’t deserve me as a worker. I hope one day the lead tech move up and get a manager position.
