What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to get acquainted with local people who professionally were working as claim representatives but were also willing to take the time and train me alongside of them. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having a remote Ohio field adjuster in charge of timely and professional leadership of myself and our Ohio team of adjusting colleagues, but there not being enough Metro corporate oversite of our field adjuster and his leadership decisions., as well as our Midwest OH/PA remote zoom team of our field adjuster's second rep in command from PA. They both unreasonably expected all reps to be prompt and professional in their job duties, yet they also took the most time processing and at times procrastinating our claims we submitted to them for professional overview before they were processed by them further. The corp office Vice President, Bill U, should be way more promptly available by both phone and email to all reps whom work outside of the corp state of Pennsylvania as the reps have questions and need answers for their clients, and deserve prompt, upfront weekly updates more consistently than what the remote field adjuster and his second in command provide individually. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a remote (communicstions online weekly from PA to Ohio) self-employed 1099 taxes, comission-based job with team and training recruitment incentives available to earn more. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It's not working at the corp office in PA. It's remote online work and zoom meetings, and you sometimes go in-person to client homes locally to you within up to 50miles of your residence to perform inspections, take photos of damages, and take their statement of what happened.

I'm a Regional Manger of MetroPA, was a Team Leader, and part of the regional management team. This all before I made regional. I understood the structure of getting promoted so it did not take me long to reach Regional Manager. 

What I have found is the training in this company to be limited and not consistent. One region may have excellent training and support another very poor. Also found in the two years a lack of support from Corporate Office. No answer of phones, or you get lost in the transfer of your call. intermittent call backs, Sometimes they do and most times they don't.

In the time I've been with MetroPA I have filed over 64 claims to help clients with getting a better shake with their Ins provider. In those 64 claims less then 12 have been paid out, and those took over 6 months or better to handle. This is excusable!

The people that I've met through Metro has be great, they're Good people. There is a lot of comradely with your follow Reps. There also a good feeling about making a difference in other peoples lives. I have seen where there is a real need for a Public Adjuster, just not with MetroPA.

Metro is a very unusual company. It's what I'd call a hybrid networking experience. Candidates are trained, with some pay. All costs including bond, test expenses, etc. are repaid upon passing a state board examination. Min. age is 18, with access to a vehicle essential. Elder friendly, NO sales, Veteran owned. 

Our mission is to educate and protect home/business insurance policy holders. It's a feel good service career. You can do this and keep your day or night job until you decide to (keep or) drop it. Very good for retirees, or wanna be retirees. Excellent for those who hate their job/career and want to transition into something satisfying, lucrative and fun.

Training is ongoing and very valuable. Access to company services is very easy. Metro is moving toward total online experiences. There are two one hour weekly training sessions, all valuable, There is a mandatory one day "fast-track" seminar in southeastern Bucks County, offices in the region that hold them, continuing ed. points.

I've been with them as an apprentice for almost three years (I am caretaking my wife who has serious disability) and have other important obligations.

My typical day is to start serving family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. I make a 20 -30 minute appointment. With my "trainer" at my side I do a short presentation, review their insurance declaration page(s) for the good and/or bad, explain how the insurance industry works (or doesn't work), how to file a proper claim, and answer any questions they may have. 

I don't punch a time clock, technically my own business owner, I get out of it what I put into it. There are a few who have complained about Metro. I've not experienced any of their complaints. Not a good fit for people who have unscrupulous tendencies. Great for people who like people.

A typical day at work for an Independent Public Adjuster would consist of making phone calls and setting up appointments within a "warm market".  You would then meet with the homeowner in their home and conduct a thorough home owners policy review.  Following the policy review, you would inform the homeowner of what coverages they had, but most importantly, the coverages that they did not have.  You would then do a property inspection of the entire home, pointing out damages that may be covered under their current homeowners policy.  

To help you stay up to date on the insurance industry, Metro provides free, weekly training to all agents as well as a weekly call in with the President of the company.  Metro also conducts its own CE classes, which are top in the industry.

I absolutely love working and being associated with this company.  The hardest part of this job was waiting to get paid on claims you have written and submitted.  This is in no way the company's fault, rather it all part of the insurance process.  You have to wait for the claim to settle before you can get paid on it.  

I truly do love the opportunity of just showing up at the company headquarters in Bensalem and being able to walk right into the Presidents office and being able to sit down and talk with him.  Everyone I have ever dealt with at this company have always been top notch.

Self employment business is very rewarding, although it is total commission. A typical day at a client's home is reviewing their homeowners policy to see what is covered and if they have sufficient coverage. Then I inspect their home for free. If there are repairs that are covered I write up the claim and submit to their insurance company. The claims adjuster does the estimates and then both adjuster and homeowner's insurance adjuster come to a decision on dollars similar to the actions of an attorney. If approved a check is submitted to the client, my company and the mortgage company to sign. The most enjoyable part of the business is educating the homeowner of his policy, what is and is not covered inside and outside the home. If there is a fire claim the client has coverage to relocate until the repairs are complete. Seeing client happy makes me happy. I learned that commission is not easy which is the reason I'm applying for full time employment, however, public adjusting is great as a part time home based business. Commission is great when it finally arrives.

The fact that they not only do not help you generate leads but also expect you to give them 5 or more leads that close before you are fully compensated in order to pay your managers for your so called training is infuriating.  The training is split between classroom and field training,  There is no compensation to us for the many hours of classroom required training. The problem with these trainings is the unprofessional manner in which they are conducted.  There is about 20 minutes of useful content in a two hour session. These trainings are supposed to last only one hour but that is not what happens. The moderator or instructor who constantly bicker with each other also allow numerous interruptions by inexperience new employees sharing their "valuable wisdom and opinions".  I suspect most of these newbies just like the sound of their own voice.  

Public Adjustors are a great service to provide the public but I just didn't have the patience to have my time wasted during the training sessions especially since the compensation is so weak.  I only made it through about half of the training and was resentful at the prospect of field training to give up my valuable leads for a pittance of the money earned.  

As an independent contractor, (highly in demand) you will work from a warm market you create offering to educate and assist the property owner (if needed). You must be business - minded to generate leads and to manage your team members to create their own success and your business.  You decide how much time you put in to cause your business to grow.  Therefore, this can be 9AM - 5PM or part time. The difficult part of the job is telling clients that there damage is not claimable because of a multiple of reasons or just one reason per case. However, they will call you again because of your honesty. In every regard, it is a great feeling to know that you've help someone to get the best settlement there insurance policy provides and to give them information to help them be a wise insurance consumer.

This isn't your typical job opportunity. You have to have the mindset of an entrepreneur, and be great at networking to really thrive in this business. You're your own boss, but your work also depends on others in the field to do their job. If their work is slack, or they don't communicate back with you in a reasonable time frame, it makes you look bad. Unfortunately, the clients are the ones that suffer. The potential to earn is there, but the accountability of others who don't have such a great work ethic is lacking. Training could be better, and perhaps the company could invest in automatic leads for a steady flow of income. Overall, it's not bad. They make you feel like family, but again it's not for everyone. However, I'm grateful for the knowledge I've obtained and will use it to my benefit and others.

Initial training to prepare for the public adjuster's test was good.(Not provided by my sponsor.) Passed the test on the first attempt.

Once the license was received, you have to write three claims where you don't receive any pay. I was from out of state but was not allowed to get "qualifying" claims from that state because my sponsor didn't want to drive across the state line. I was told I was not eligible to sit for the test in the state I was from until I wrote three claims in the state where I joined Metro. (I explained that I didn't know anyone in PA because I was from NJ and was told it would not be a problem.)

I asked to be transferred to NJ and was denied. I made no money and wrote 2 claims. Horrible!

I believe there is money to be made, just not with the rules they have in place.

The premise is a great one. Learn very quickly how to become a licensed and bonded insurance for the little people to fight the big/bad/greedy insurance companies on legit claims.

The problem begins from day one. YOU are recruited and pay $40 to go to a class to learn that you must recruit more people in order to be pushed up the pyramid and make some real dough -- that is if the claims you or your recruits submit are legit.

You then (in Ohio) pay $250 to get a license and bond. The classes they make you go teach you diddlysquat about adjusting and everything about multi-level marketing.
