What is the best part of working at the company?
Working at MHSD has been a genuinely positive experience for me. One of the things I appreciate most is the culture—it’s welcoming, supportive, and truly people-focused. From day one, I’ve felt like more than just a number. The leadership and team members make an effort to value each person’s contributions, which goes a long way in creating a positive work environment.

The teamwork here is also something that really stands out. Everyone is willing to help each other, and there’s a strong sense of collaboration across the board. It makes even the busiest days more manageable and enjoyable when you know you have a solid team behind you.

Overall, MHSD is a great place to work if you’re looking for a supportive atmosphere, strong team dynamics, and a workplace where you feel recognized and appreciated.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working at MHSD is navigating resistance to change among some staff. While the organization continues to grow and improve, not everyone is comfortable adapting to new processes or ideas. Leadership, including the Executive Director, consistently provides training and maintains transparency to support these changes, but it can still be challenging when some individuals prefer things to stay the same.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I'm  usually busy, which I enjoy because it keeps me engaged and makes the day go by quickly. The workload is steady, but not overwhelming, and I generally feel supported in managing my responsibilities.

One challenge is the number of required meetings. While some are helpful, there are times when it feels like there are more meetings than necessary, and some could likely be reduced to allow more time to focus on day-to-day tasks.

In my last job title I performed Resource Coordination in which it was my responsibility to link our patients with resources in the community. Being in the field for so long I was aware of many of the resources that would fit our patient's needs. Having been transferred to various departments which involved various duties I have acquired many job skills as well increased my knowledge base. In that there were many managers each with there own styles and personalities it proved very challenging.  My co-workers were great to work with. I am a very easy person to work with and wherever I went I have always gotten along well with everyone. The hardest part of my job was the numerous changes implemented.  Once you mastered how supervisors wanted a particular task carried out within a few months it would change. The most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with our patients.

I have been employed here (at this site) for 10 years. . Over the past few years, the administration has changed for the worse. Hard working employees, have not had raises in 8 years, but there is always money to hire y in Human Resources.. Friends of employees, church members, there r is no promotion  within MHSD. 
There are talented good people and yet, the advancement goes to the outside world.

My co-workers are the front line of defense. They do everything from scheduling to getting the real crisis patients seen ( as walk ins) The hardest t part of my job, is to sit down and talk to men and women who at one time, had a home, job, family, and just lost their way, via drugs, alcohol, relationships, and people that I know personally, that I would never think  in a million years, that they are in need of professional help.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was a job, somewhere to work. Not really much more I can add to this.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
“Shotty” orientation made you less prepared for what was actually happening in the work space. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nursing director was mean, erratic and  caused chaos.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Patient care was reasonably stable, but nursing team would be disrupted when nursing leadership (director or nursing) changed. The newest director of nursing was pretentious and argumentative

The availability of my position to be hybrid

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
N/A in my case. I find my job not stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Open door policy allows DEI conversations to flow. Staff is friendly and helpful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I like going to MHSD. We feel like we make a difference for the better in someone’s life everyday. The staff is pleasant and responsive.

Hands down the worse job I have ever had. Totally unprofessional environment. A hot, disorganized mess. Nurse leaders possess absolutely no leadership skills, but keep their jobs because they are friends with the CEO. There aren't enough characters available for me to describe just how bad this place of work is, therefore I'll just say don't do it. I was informed before I accepted this position that this place is garbage, but I took a chance anyway because I wanted to get back into the state system. Big mistake.

I have a very nice office.  Thepsychiatriss  are wonderful clinicians and great to work woth,

The lack of support from manaagement; makes staff feel invisible and unappreciated.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fine if you are an Africa American.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
BUSY!  Many meetings yet still espected to meet deadlines.

Helping the community and making new friends.

Things were constantly changing week by week.

Most busy and sometimes stressful

It was rewarding to know that this organization truly helped people with disabilities.  If there were problems being qualified for services, MHSD work continuously to help the client get the services they needed.

I truly enjoyed working as both a consultant and an employee of Metropolitan Human Services District.  While it was busy every day, the office truly gave you great experience in the field, as well as was very rewarding as far as the work with clients on the daily basis.
