During my stay at Buckley’s Great Steaks, I found that the job while giving good hours, was exhausting due to constantly moving around and trying to find the places to put cooking equipment. You had to yell “behind” to let people know you were going being them. Despite the problems, people could get along there and have fun, they gave a free meal that everyone could eat while working until opening, and they allowed people to take food home sometimes if there were leftovers, sometimes I even got a free burger made by the lovely grill cook for my efforts cleaning.

I loved working at Buckleys Bakery, and everything about it exept for unnecessary stressful situations because of managers favoritism, and close to actual bullying on whoever she chose that day. Also people who were hired were made into shift leaders days or weeks later because they became part of her "clique". I was there a year and was fantastic at my job and was never offered that position, because we werent friends. Anyway the management was very unprofessional, and would judge staff and costumers constantly.  They job otherwise was a lovely place to be, and great atmosphere with great pay and always room for friendly relationships.

Michael Buckley is the best boss and owner in the area.  I worked as one of the bakers, going in at midnight and working until 8 am or when my work was completed.  I thoroughly loved everything about my job, (new methods and ways of creating, baking and finishing products) but left due to the hours. Going to bed at 2 pm on my scheduled nights to be to work at midnight the next day, ( I would wake up to eat dinner with my significant other) made for a low home life. If you are a talented baker and don't mind the hours, i will highly recommend working at Buckley's Bakery and Cafe.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They are extremely flexible and understanding  about scheduling.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pay isn’t great, it can be slow during the week and people don’t tip very often. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There are so many people working here that it depends on the shift what the environment is like, but it’s generally very warm and upbeat. There’s a bit of a complaining culture with the employees but that’s everywhere.

Cool place to work although most other dish positions in Portsmouth start at 10/11.  Learned how to prep seafood asian vegetables and make sushi rice. Was in line for a full prep position and then they hired obe of the maki roller's brother, who had more kitchen experience than I did. Place does not exist anymore, they moved the sushi operation down into the fish restaurant proper

For the most part, people that work here are great. Management on the other hand will give false promises and the hours aren’t exactly guaranteed. Employees will check your hours without your consent and the managers don’t do anything about it. If you accept a job from here make sure you ask for a unique clock in number if you don’t want people checking your hours when they get upset or intimidated. 

The Company Rounds Chef is responsible for representing the company’s expectation of an ideal line cook and setting an example for the chefs. This job was very challenging but very rewarding. It did involve traveling from Portsmouth to Nashua and vice versa, but I was compensated slightly better than the other line cooks for this reason. 

The company can withstand the changing business cycles, and continues to expand. Earning potential is high, and varies from location to location. Lots of regulars who make their rounds to the other restaurants, so it's easy to build rapport with guests. Company does offer benefits, and the work environment is generally very pleasant.

The job it’s self is mostly the same but the people the regularly come as customers and the people that work there are great! The work its self is repetitive and when we are not busy helping customers you are expected to clean.
