What is the best part of working at the company?
I don't work there but I did work  Work there and I wouldn't work there as  Activity person at least don't get me wrong I'd love to my job but then too much change to go there and I can handle it I felt  Out of place like I was not good enough anymore and that hurts especially when years ago I got it for employee of the month and then during the survey I had no tags for activities and I was proud of myself for that

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Too much change for the residents too much doing things different not enough routine anymore there I had a routine going with them that they were comfortable with and when someone comes in and changes all that and you have to talk to the residents about it and explain to them what's going on and half of them will not even come to leave activities anymore because of that alone but I had no say so

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would get there in the morning and I would go to standard which is telling me about what's going on with people and things that day and then I would go to my calendars each day I have 3 of them that I write what's going on every day and then I would go visit with people in the mornings have coffee with them talk to them answer some Lights to help out with the aids and then I would try and get people for activities which is very hard because a lot of them are  Are busy doing other things or refusing to come out but yet I'm supposed to get him out even if they don't want to so instead I would do well on lunch and I got trouble for that

I loved my job and the residents are the most  wonderful people that I have had a chance to cook for. The kitchen Manager is a true professional and legititamitly cares for each worker and resident at Homestead Of Oskaloosa.
The job culture is inclusive and the kitchen workers are respectful and passionate about their jobs. The job hours are difficult becouse the company does not care about what hours the Ktchen Manager is forced to have the employee's work. If this problem was corrected the overal job satisfaction would be great. The pay the company offers is higher than the other care facilities in Oskaloosa. There is a problem when a pandemic hit's that the company does not give proper work bonuses to the employees for worker rediculiously long hour's.
All in all a great residents and co-workers but the typical "comapany" out to line their pockets and not the hard working employees that make Homestead of Oskaloosa the best care facility in Oskaloosa.

A typical day consisted of first making rounds with the prior shifts aide's and getting the daily report. I learned patience and how to care properly for the elderly even when times got hard like during death or taking care of dying patients. I don't have very good things to say about management because there were always issues that weren't resolved when needed and I personally feel they did not care for their CNA's they weren't compensated enough to do the job we did, not that it was all about money but it takes a special person to be able to do the job. I had a soft spot for the elderly and just helping people who need it the most. The hardest part of the job is getting attached and having to watch your residents suffer or slowly pass away right in front of you or coming onto your next day shift and learning that that person is no longer there. Just like in any place of work you have co- workers that you can easily get along with and work well with and others you can't, that's jus how it goes. The most enjoyable part of the job was making those patients smile and just knowing they trust you fully and appreciate what you do. Building the bond with them was the most rewarding thing ever.

I worked late 2021 to early 2022 at HOA. Started as hospitality aide, eventually got my CNA.

Got along with most of my coworkers and got the then admin. Wasn’t really called If someone called in or needed extra help. Usually there was a bonus if that was the case. If they offer a bonus, get it documented somehow. It won’t show up on your check until you mention it wasn’t on your check and you have proof. They would bump your rank up, but not the pay. Basically just document everything and cover your butt.

Work load was a bit much for 1 CNA for 25-30 people. All day showers and some of evening showers were required on day shift. While also needing to do those 6-8 showers by yourself, you also had to do rounds, laundry, trash, dishes and be in 20 different spots at once. You’d get chewed out if you couldn’t get the that 1 shower or they’d refuse a shower. If you had help, 50/50 shot you could find them.

Overall, not bad. Just have proof of any paperwork you ever get with promotions, make sure the money matches. Bonus money, proof again. Definitely keeps you busy, just make sure to leave a paper trail you did all your work.

I've worked in this building several different times of the years. Usually to fill in until they hired a full time position but most generally for vacations or when the caseload was high. I received excellent education from the RT regarding reading respiratory equipment, putting on PMV's, and weaning pt from their vents/trachs. Our RD was great to work for. She worked very hard to not overwhelm the PRN staff and accommodate their hours. Working with trachs can be difficult. It puts you out of your comfort zone quickly. Pts exhibit quite a bit anxiety and it requires a compassionate team to balance the anxiety medication, provide encouragement and goals to help them succeed. Many of these pts are from far away and rarely get to see their families. They rarely get to leave their rooms other than therapy which often increases depression compounding their prognosis.

I would clock in at 5:30 every day I would prep and cook the morning meal I would help serve it to the residents with the help of the salad prep cook and the nursing staff.  I would then do the clean up and take a short break I would then start preparing the noon meal when it was in the oven I would take my lunch break.  After the noon meal was served I would wash up the pots and pans and put the left overs in the refrigerator to be used for another meal.  I would help prep for the next days meal by making the desserts and pulling meats out of the freezer for meals down the menu usually two days worth of meals.  Then on stock days I would help put the stock away.  I helped sweep and mop and then I would clock out and go home.  The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing the smiles on the residents faces when ever they got to eat a home cooked meal. The hardest part of my job was losing someone that you got attached to.

A typical day would start with doing report with the nurse from the previous shift and than narcotic count. I would check new orders, labs, change in status in residents, see who the CNAs were that we working with me and do rounds on residents. I learned new things at work everyday, always wanting to know more about each resident. I had great repore with my co-workers and supervisors, I worked on all the units at the facility so I made sure to know all my co-workers, supervisors, doctors, nurse practitioners, family members and residents names.  When family members came to visit I always went to them to see if they had any questions about the residents. The relationship between the family members and I were always very open, they knew that they could call or ask me anything and I would be honest and if I didn't know the answer I would find it for them. The most enjoyable part of the job was to make the residents have a better day and to let them know that they are important.

I have had many positive and negative experiences while working her but, I will say they did provide me with the right on the job training to become certified. Working as a CNA any where can be rewarding and challenging.  The Healthcare Industry in general has many challenges. In general here in america we have we have the worst health care. Just another typical Nursing home that has same problems as any other facilities. Retention of staff is the major issue. I could say Management has issues and sure just like everywhere else you work. The fact of the matter is in any job you have to have a purpose. you will always find things you don't like about a job. This job has opened my eyes up to the possibles in the health care Industry. You will know if this is a career you wish to advance in or not. Overall I loved the coworkers who knew what it meant to work as a team.

Working at Lexington Park leaves a person wondering what in the world is wrong with management.  No communication with staff.  The work load is way to much for the pay you receive.  Very stressful environment.  More and more work is loaded onto you while other departments did not receive any increase in their work load.  Very dissatisfied with the job I had there.  Would not work for them again.
It is apparent that it does not matter what Director you have the strings are being pulled from above.  When staff is brushed off and residents are brushed off and nothing get resolved.  You have a problem.  Not a happy work environment for anyone.  No teamwork as management does not want to address the problems, just ignore them.  

The part I loved the best was working with the residents.  However, it was sad to see that the needs were not being met.

While working here for the past 5 years I've had management trash talk me and my coworkers over worked under paid under valued under staffed expected to do doubles covering 3+ peoples shifts by myself expected to help other departments while not having time to do my job and even though I was hired full time I was only getting 15.5 hours a week on $12.00 and was denied raises repeatedly told I'd get a great yearly raise and when that yearly raise came we were lucky to get more than a penny one year I did get a penny throughout the covid-19 Pandemic other places got hazard pay while we got nothing never working for midwest health again! The company should be shut down as they take no care for employees or residents their only concern is how much profit they can get with as little expenses
