A typical day at work in Early Intervention consists of traveling to client's homes to work with children birth to age 3 years and their families. Assisting families to learn ways to help them and their child reach their goals and developmental milestones. Management here is great and goes above and beyond to make sure that their employees have all the information and resources necessary to be able to perform and carry out their responsibilities to their clients and families. The employees are supportive of each other and are able and willing to share information with each other regarding treatment strategies and tricks of their trades to help children and families be able to reach their goals. Sometimes working in Early Intervention is difficult, when families have to cancel last minute you are left with a time gap in your schedule if it can not be rearranged, traveling to client's homes can sometimes be difficult due to road conditions or construction, or trains or weather conditions sometimes resulting in cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. However, working in this area is also very enjoyable, in Early Intervention you have more freedom to schedule what fits for you and your clients and you work outside of a building which is great on nice days you can work outside, it's also very rewarding to be a part of these children's and their families lives as they learn to grow and meet their goals.

The co-workers… before most of the good ones left. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is absolutely no structure.
The turnover rate is terrible. 
 The compensation for the amount of work they expect employees to complete is unlivable, especially for the administrative team—specifically clinic coordinators.
There are more managers/admin/leadership members than there are actual therapists. 
The owner AND entire leadership team do not listen to the needs of employees, but will act like they do with random surveys and “coffee chats” that lead to them doing what they want anyway. In the year and a half I have worked for Milestone, I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen a leadership member, had a conversation with them, or spoke to the owner. 
Very discouraging environment, with a HUGE lack of structure and very little support. 

Milestone has been one of the best organizations I've had the opportunity to work with. The culture is incredible, the team is genuinely supportive, and leadership truly leads by example. The CEO and management team care about their employees and have built a workplace where people feel respected, valued, and motivated to do their best work.

The work-life balance is excellent, which can be hard to find in healthcare. There's a strong emphasis on supporting both professional growth and personal well-being. As an Occupational Therapist, I feel empowered to provide the best care possible while being surrounded by amazing coworkers who are always willing to help.

At first job was fantastic. After a couple of months the favorites stood out like a sore thumb and the managers didn’t even try to hide it, they let certain people take off as much time as they need without any reprocussions, no doctors notes needed. Me and some other people definitely were treated as the lower end of the employee hierarchy. Clients are consistently calling off/going home early because they let the clients fall asleep. They tell you that you get more hours and more kids but I had my caseload change more times in the 7 months I worked here then any other clinic. Pay honestly depends on how many hours you’re given. I don’t recommend this place if you have bills to pay or a family to support because your not guaranteed hours. 

Working at Milestones Therapy was a truly enriching experience. It provided a supportive and collaborative environment that allowed me to learn, grow, and refine my clinical skills as an occupational therapist. The team was knowledgeable, welcoming, and passionate about delivering high-quality care. I appreciated the opportunity to work with a diverse client population, and I gained valuable hands-on experience in both assessment and intervention. Milestones Therapy played a key role in shaping my professional journey, and I’m grateful to have been part of such a dedicated and compassionate team.

They have created all of these senior therapists for each discipline however it becomes confusing who you’re supposed to report to. The owner, Drew, really needs to step away from day to day operations because he confuses things and often changes decisions without sufficient warning. He low balls you regarding salary with promises of increases that don’t happen. They are very unprofessional and inconsistent regarding human resource issues. They still use paper documentation and have yet to switch to an EHR system because Drew is cheap. He tries to give the impression that he is pro-therapist however he will quickly “Throw you under the bus” to save himself when a difficult situation arises.

My role at Mikestone Therapy has allowed me to wear a bunch of hats / do a bunch of different tasks in the organization over the years. I really like this and have been able to grow professionally because of this. I have been exposed to a number of grat therapists and managers over the years, and all of them put the kids first. The most enjoyable part of the job for me, while I'm not a therapist, is seeing the little kids improve. Changes coming out of COVID have been difficult at times, but I love what we're doing now. 

The company's office is in Indiana, but they do work all over. I got the chance to work in schools and Illinois Early Intervention. I loved that I was able to see two different areas of pediatrics. I also like that I was able to meet some speech and occupational therapists to work with too and do co-treatments. The schools were my favorite, but I loved the little babies in EI. The therapists make the sessions fun, and let me be myself. 

The people I worked with were great.  The managers were good, but the team we had doing the work with the kids is what kept me there so long.  I liked the meetings we had where we were able to fix things.  That doesn't happen everywhere.  Things that were broken (ie hooks for swings, toys) were actually fixed or replaced pretty quickly.  I wanted to spend more time with the PTs, OTs, and Speech Therapists, but they only crossed over every once in a while.
