Reflecting on my time at MBH, my experience has been a mix of highs and lows, with notable strengths overshadowed by pervasive challenges within the workplace culture.

One shining light amidst the difficulties was the exceptional HR Director and team, whose support and caring demeanor stood out in stark contrast to the overall atmosphere. Their dedication to employee well-being and willingness to listen and address concerns were commendable, providing a much-needed source of support in an otherwise challenging environment.

However, despite the efforts of individuals like the HR Director, the broader culture within the organization leaves much to be desired. Issues such as poor communication, ineffective management practices, and a lack of accountability continue to plague the workplace, undermining morale and hindering productivity.

Furthermore, the struggles with anger management exhibited by certain managers have created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere, making it difficult for employees to thrive and collaborate effectively.

In conclusion, while the exceptional support from the HR Director is noteworthy, it's clear that systemic changes are needed to foster a truly positive and inclusive workplace culture at MBH. Without addressing these underlying issues, it's difficult to recommend this organization as a fulfilling place to work.

Prospective candidates should carefully weigh the positives and negatives before considering employment at MBH.

Honestly, if you're thinking about applying. DONT. Staff is overworked & pay not being enough. As a clinical staff, there is too much to do and too little time, especially with lazy co workers who don't offer any help.
Management is always busy and never has time to actually sit down and do 1:1 with staff but supervisor has time to have an unethical relationship with his supervisee. Many of the clinical team is young but most of the staff is only helps if management asks but lack team support. There's 4 adult therapist and they only run 2 groups. Treatment is unfair, and majority of the time we focus on adults and not the adolescents - despite them being a lot more work. Don't get me started on nursing staff and the nursing house supervisor - as they are ALWAYS unorganized and have no idea what is going on. This place focuses on pushing the patients discharge dates just to make more many rather than listening to the patients wishes/family wishes. Overall, a very unorganized facility. OH, also, if you're expecting training, there is NONE. Working my first week of starting there I was thrown into doing paperwork and doing groups despite getting absolutely no training other than "shadowing" co workers for a few hours. Yet management expects you to do superb even though this company only sets you up for FAILURE. Please stay away and go to a different behavioral health hospital!
A&R is also awful and lacks training & lacks communication. Also, they say food is a perk except they barley make enough to feed the employees lol don't promote it then! Pick somewhere else to take your talent, this place doesn't deserve it.

Overall, it’s a great place to work and I feel very supported by my team. Great work life balance, pay, and I love the work itself. But there are so many issues that should be focused on by management. Very inconsistent expectations for each employee r/t calling in or just job responsibilities. If someone is known to slack off a bit, they get away with a lot more than someone who puts in 110% effort. Money & having a high census is the focus instead of pt care. Anyone is admitted despite medical issues that we can’t appropriately care for or not being appropriate/being violent. This can make it unsafe for the whole units. Some staff members are very rude to patients & make their experiences worse. Management really does not communicate much to other departments. Decisions that impact patient care are solely made by people who don’t even work with or know the patients at all! If MBH isn’t careful, they might be in legal trouble for also trying to extend patients’ discharge dates past when they really need to be there. Patients usually don’t know their d/c date until a day or two before & it’s often pushed, which can be unfair at times. Also, patients have not been getting the patient handbook for months so they have no idea what to expect coming there. 

I feel overwhelmed and overstimulated every day. The pay is great, but alot is expected out of  nursing. No breaks. Expexted to work 12 hours with out eating/break. Actually told to eat in a closet and scarf down your food if you dont have time to go to the break room. Patient ratios are boardline dangerous, but when staff complain your told they could bring in more patients but they do you a “favor” and cap admissions at the overbearing amount it is. No understanding of patient acuity by administrators. Admissions bring in innappropriate patients that need more care the facility can offer. Being a good at the chaos just brings you more work and those that cannot handle the pressure - well you get their work too. Asked to work on your days off and stay late and come in early because they cant keep staff. Some staff are extreme gossips and pot stirrers and rumors get spread like wildfire about anything and everything.  Expect to spend the whole shift working your butt off and then still being told its not enough and to do better.

Miramont unfortunately has been struggling since they opened. I spent a long time working there (unlike most employees) and truly saw no growth. I loved working in mental health but unfortunately miramont is more like a business than it is about helping others. All the company cares about is insurance money, and administration is so disconnected from the rest of the employees. The hospital has circled through multiple CEO’s, directors of nursing, etc. They promote people who don’t deserve it, and don’t value their employees that have spent years there, they only value nursing because they can never keep staffing. I received no raise for 2 years even though everyone is supposed to get a “yearly review compensation increase” yet when I advocate for myself I am shot down. The hospital is so disorganized and most patients have negative experiences. The outpatient program is great, but inpatient needs some work and help from administrators.

Overall, working at Miramont Hospital has been a highly positive experience, marked by professional growth and a deep sense of purpose. 

The most rewarding part of the job is contributing to a system that supports mental health and well-being. Knowing that my work helps ensure the hospital’s financial stability and efficiency is fulfilling and aligns with the hospital’s core mission of patient care. The management as well as the entire support team is exceptional. They provide clear guidance and support, fostering an environment where feedback is constructive and professional growth is encouraged. Their open-door policy and collaborative approach greatly contribute to a positive work atmosphere.  I’ve gained valuable insights into how financial operations impact patient care and hospital management, enhancing my overall accounting proficiency and analytical skills.

It hurt my soul to know patients were not getting the therapy they needed or able to see clinical staff in a timely fashion. The mileu was not controlled at all. Many patients signed AMA and the psych patients were mixed with detox patients. Two patient beds per room. The staffing educator did not help the nurses when short staffed, nor follow up with orientation checklists or 1:1 to see how staff were doing. It was a figure it out type of orientation to the floor and afterward as well. Patient or staff safety was not priority. The high $ sign on bonus and wage increase did not make it worth staying around. Disorganized and sad. Honestly if the management took the time to properly prepare, train, assess, implement, evaluate, and make the changes needed it could potentially be a great place to work-but that’s going to take a lot more work. 

Miramont promotes a culture of inclusivity. All staff are allowed to express themselves as they wish creating a positive work environment. Everyone is afforded the same benefits, training and opportunity for personal growth. Senior leadership has an open-door policy allowing everyone access to them for questions or concerns. 

The typical day starts at either 7am or 7pm. Nurses and staff are afforded their twice daily fifteen-minute breaks along with a thirty-minute lunch. This is the first hospital I have worked for that makes sure the staff get breaks. And should they choose, all employees are allowed to eat from the cafeteria free of charge, and the food is top notch.

Management is open to suggestions and always takes suggestions seriously.

I work with a strong team of individuals in the outpatient department of the facility. Everyone is very passionate about the work that is done.  There is a lot of flexibility that the entire facility provides with working amongst other departments. The work done with the patients is fulfilling and you can really tell that we are making a difference in peoples lives. Working effectively with the team allows for more than just professional growth and often promotes personal growth. I adore my staff and my coworkers. It is honestly hard to ask for any better.  There is so much potential for this facility to do so many great things for the outpatient and inpatient side of things. 

This in summary was the worst job environment I’ve ever been apart of. Little to no trainings provided for every positions (outside of House-Keeping) and almost ZERO support from the administrative/management team. The communication is like a game of telephone- constant spats between employees and unnecessary work drama. But all of that doesn’t match up to the LACK of accountability throughout the entirety of the staff - everybody is late, slacks off and leaves work for the following shift, etc. The only way I’d suggest this place is if you’re struggling to make ends meet and just need a temporary job to be a place-holder and even then, the stress might outweigh the potential pay.
