The shift is always chaos at shift change because report is late, there is no organization and patients are in need of something the minute you hit the floor and the Nurses are interrupted repeatedly while trying to give report to oncoming staff. The units are always dirty and a mess. The majority of staff are clicky,  like high school all over again.  Hardest part of the job is having no support from management and constantly running out of supplies for patients. The best part of the job is groups and connections with patients to help them get back o n track in their wellness journey. I've learned that the for profit attitude of the Healthcare industry in MA, specifically at MiraVista is bad business for the ones seeking help. 

The days were easy doing 4 groups. Group started around 10 I believe, so you have time to do the 80 notes you didn’t complete the day before kind of. 2 groups in the morning & 2 in the afternoon. You learn a lot working with this population but nurses, social workers and therapist were never on the same page when it came to what was allowed on the floor. The social workers do not want or probably even know how to run a group if there is a lack of therapist on the floor. It felt like social workers treated therapist like they were nobodies.. the environment depends on the type of coworkers you have. Everyone is in a shared space.. NO SUPPORT in supervision. You go in for 10 min for nothing.. She also might not even do supervision for 4-6 weeks so if you need hours signed off, don’t recommend. They only have 1 therapist for adolescents and that is way too much for one person to deal with everyday. There isn’t a reliable translator. The list truly goes on.. the company does things very backward .. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Most of the staff were professionals and humble. Trying to be a helper to the patients was somewhat satisfying to a degree, when they were responsive

Being in harms way of explosive and dangerous patients

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Upper management, I believe have lost their way being professionals in a behavioral hospital and lack compassion for the patients and their employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meeting with 10 patients and preparing 10 Biopsychosocials on these individuals

First off this place is doing most things wrong. The building is old and run down and not fit for psychiatric care in my opinion. There isn't a functional seclusion room so all the restraints become mechanical restraints in a chair. Anyone who has worked psychiatric care knows this is not how things are supposed to be done. The activity rooms are small and not large enough to accomidate therapy for all the patients at the same time. There are so many other reasons why this is a terrible place to work. Leadership is very weak here. The building should be condemned and maybe rebuilt. If they wanted to do things right they would have to start over from scratch.

MiraVista is a vital part in our community, and the main goal here is to make sure people get the help they need, in the most compassionate and dignified way. Working here is fun and there is a lot of room for professional development. Career advancement is strongly encouraged by leadership, and you are given the tools to succeed.  There is even a fun committee at MiraVista! There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere when you step inside, and I feel as a valuable part of the team here. I would highly recommend this as your new place of employment!

The people I work with and caring and helpful. They really care about the work of hat they do for the community.

Worrying about being downsized. They seem to cut my hours and every week.

The environment isn’t safe and the culture is very toxic.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You never know what you’re walking into when you get to your unit.

Extremely unprofessional work environment with a huge lack of support from management. Very high MHC  turnover rate most likely due to improper training for staff. HR provided no help for staff, does not answer phone calls or emails, and very rude and unprofessional. Consistently messing up pay. Terrible communication overall. Very unsafe work environment due to lack of proper training for staff especially during restraints. 

The SUD units are closing within the next 2 months due to egocentric managers not being held in check. No accountability, no support, no structure. The community needs SUD services and people would rather be right than fix issues presented to them. Bills aren't being paid and services are being discontinued for patients who actually need them. Shameful business practices. 

Warning to Nurses: Proceed with Caution
This company puts your nursing license at risk. Upper management consistently shows a lack of concern for staff well-being, and chronic understaffing means that essential support like responding to codes is often unavailable. The facility is rundown, unsafe, and not equipped to provide proper patient care. If you’re a compassionate nurse who takes pride in ethical, quality care, this is not the place for you.
