Missing Piece Billing & Consulting

I was hired about 6 months ago, and I will admit initial training was difficult, especially
If you don't have alot of previous knowledge of billing. But like with any job, communication is key. When I communicated to my manager I needed extra training they were willing to step up and give me extra support.

 They are flexible with time off and understand family emergencies, especially during Corona. 

I enjoy coming into work, and I always learn something new. I am in the Toby pike location and it is pretty low drama compared to other offices I've heard. I haven't experienced anything overtly negative, and the manager definitely tries to keep gossip under wraps. However working in an office full of women, sometimes its unavoidable. 

Pay is great for the work you do and the benefits are average. But as we grow im sure that will get better. 

Overall I really enjoy my job and the friendships and relationships I've made while working there. I would recommend to anyone!  

I enjoyed my job, but the environment is very clique-ish and when there is an issue there's no one to speak to. Management is poor, and some have little to no idea what's going on with the accounts until they perceive a problem. Employees are often ridiculed or talked down to. Benefits and company policy change on a whim with little more notice than a company e-mail. There's no real recourse to discuss any of it, and no one to speak to if you have an issue at all. It's like a club, and if you aren't a member, they may pay you to show up and do your job, but you are treated entirely differently than others. It leads to a lot of stress. The job itself is very rewarding, but the toxic environment heavily outweighs the few benefits. There's also no room for advancement at all.

Regardless of department, there is a steep learning curve if you have no experience, so don’t expect to walk in and know the job; ABA is kind of it’s own thing with its own rules. 
The job is pretty great in a lot of ways; 8-4 schedule, more flexible than many other local jobs, a more laid-back atmosphere, work that isn’t physically challenging, independence, and generally supportive management. 
That said, there are some drawbacks; the training isn’t always consistent, the caseloads can be overwhelming, the culture can be stressful and toxic (especially with certain employees), and upper management can be aloof and self-serving. 
I loved my job and even with the disadvantages I mentioned, it was far better than some of the other places I’ve worked in the area. 

The work here is pretty straight forward. Sometime you have issues with being told conflicting information and you have to hunt down whatever the right information is. Management is very chill and don't micro manage so that is a big bonus. There really needs to be better pay though. Its not enough to live comfortably on your own and I hear my coworkers talking about how they have to go to their second job after work. They also are trying to have steering committees to make the job better but we never really hear updates from them so as far as I am concerned nothing is changing and they just made that up so they look like they are trying to make things better. I can't really tell until they stop talking about it and take actual steps to make change.

I have had the pleasure of working at Missing Piece since July of 2015.  Clocking into a job where management is considerate of my time off, flexible with my schedule, and willing to go out of their way to help when needed is as fulfilling as the work we do. I am genuinely astounded by the teamwork approach that our management and senior staff demonstrate daily. The best part, in my opinion, is that I am able to collaborate alongside an entire company of individuals striving toward the same goal.  It is exhilarating, and it is what we do every single day.

Honestly, once you understand your job expectations and how to navigate ABA therapy with different insurances/states, the job itself is not difficult. There is a learning curve, and it does take time to understand and to feel like you have it down. Advancing your career is quite simple and easy to do in certain departments, as long as you are a hard worker. The schedule has some flexibility, with the option of working from home after a certain amount of time. The management is quite understanding and will do what they can to accommodate your needs. This is a small company that is consistently growing, and with that policies, benefits, and processes can change at any time. I truly enjoy my job and see myself being with the company for a long time. 

I love what I do at Missing Piece. Typical day at work, I will start off my day reviewing voicemail mails & returning parent phone calls. I will always stay busy from 8-4. My daily basis as of right now would include patient statements, verifying insurance eligibility, answering the phone for Missing Piece, reviewing and solving insurance questions, running credit card transactions, and organization all day. I have learned everything I know within Missing Piece & I wouldn't be where I am without the amazing people I have within my surroundings. I love my job and everything I have learned, I would like to excel more in my degree and go beyond where I am at for my boys.

Typical day at work is co workers waiting for someone to make a mistake and call CEO.  Work should have been focused on more.

I learned to keep my mouth shut and do my job. 

This company needed to train the manager better and again, not worry about the drama and work.

Most co-workers were a pleasure, yet miserable in the environment. It only takes a few to ruin the atmosphere.

The hardest part wasn't the work, it was the hostile environment.

The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to be a part of a great cause!

When I first started, it was very overwhelming. I had never worked in an office setting, but the staff were kind to me as I transitioned into my position. They always helped me with questions that I had, not just the "how", but the "why" as well. The providers we serve have a very special job helping people. I enjoy being a part of helping the helpers. ☺️ There are challenging days for sure, but overall, there's nothing better than to figure out the solutions and give the provider the peace of mind that they need to continue and thrive in their practices.

I am Unsure a best part exists. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Leadership and drama if spineless.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Drama and bullsh*t. No respect. Hard work is not seen.  Must kiss up to people if want to survive. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. Providers are given false expectations you are suppose to keep but never match day to day.
