I am a traveling Physical Therapist Assistant and spent 4 months with Healthy Living at Home in the Portland, OR area. Full time caseload expectations were 5 visits daily 5 days a week. Productivity can be challenging depending on area covered. My radius was larger than most as I personally don’t mind driving and I was a traveler. They pay a healthy mileage rate however do not pay mileage from home to first patient’s home. This is not unusual as most companies are making this standard. Personally I feel that is unfair as field clinicians are working and technically on the clock. Also driving from home to first patient’s home changes daily unlike a drive from home to the office which is a consistent location. Since I was a traveler I decided to rent a place close to the office however my territory ended up being McMinnville which is about 40 miles away. Therefore everyday was 80 miles and 2 hours drive time just to and from home/work. This was expressed to management and they did their best to come to a fair compromise.

Owners, managers, office staff and clinicians were all great! Compensation was good and supplies always available to ensure quality treatment of the patients. There were times that census grew and caseloads were getting to heavy and difficult to manage. However management was very approachable and truly listened to requests and feedback. Overall I was extremely satisfied with the northern Oregon branch and hope to work with them again in the near future.

I have worked With Healthy Living at Home out of the Concord office now for 6 years. I am committed to this company as I plan to work here until I retire, which is aways off! We did have some bumps in the road with upper management, but fortunately that has been fixed and our new ED is a wonderful and caring person who I truly feel I can talk to about just about anything. She manages without being a bully or making you feel stupid. I love my co-workers in the field and we do what we can to support each other, I feel like they are part of my family. 
As far as pay increases, I have been fairly compensated and so far have recieved a pay increase each year, which is literally not the standard for a Home Health Agency. 
I love the flexibility and autonomy I now have with our new crew. 
Our Area Director is always available when we have questions or concerns, as well as our Executive Director, and both take the time to listen and try to problem solve when issues come up. 

My favorite part of this job is the interaction I have each day with all of my wonderful patients, I wouldn't trade the feeling I get from making a difference in their recoveries. I hope I make an impact with them as well. 

The absolute only suggestion I have is to have a 401K in which the employer contributes a percentage. I think at some point this will happen!

A typical day at work is always exciting since not everyday is the same day and you get to know how people work and how they end their shift. Work/Life balance is pretty open and they will let you leave either early or come to work earlier if you have a medical/dental appointment. Compensation is somehow competitive but not as high as what you would expect since the company is pretty new whether you're a degree holder or not. Job security is questionable because the company can just let go of an employee who worked for them for years and sometimes they practice bad politics where employees who know some of the higher ups could convince them whether this person should be let go or not, or other employees would do their best to find any possible mistake that you've done (but they do those mistakes too) then make a big issue out of it until you get fed up and just leave; because of this unethical behavior within some departments, the company will lose good workers or maybe the best people they could have. The company's mission is great and the service they do to all those patients are exemplary but they need to work on their professionalism when treating their own team members/ co-workers. There are times where people say that before coming to work they would think: "Ok i wonder what i'll hear today that i did wrong yesterday."

At orientation, one of the owners said that the main focus was 'patient care' followed only by 'employee care'. The management was amazing at that time. They were very supportive...they had our back. This was going to be my forever job! I didn't mind working very hard because I knew that management was working hard, too. 

After recent changes in management in order to make more money for the owners, things plummeted drastically in patient care. It was impossible to get any assistance from the clinical manager. Her main focus was stepping outside for a smoke break. Staffing was horrible! A nearby location had a very low patient census yet a HUGE staff of new employees. The owners decided that the staffing in our location was in excess. I was laid off in November, one of the chaplains was laid off and an admission nurse was laid off. The Monday after the admision nurse and I were laid off, a new nurse started orientation to do admissions and patient visits including aspects of my former job. 

Despite the fact that they profess that they have direct deposit, they don't because their finances are so poor that the bank will not allow it. I would not recommend that anyone works for this company. Licensed professionals are putting their license on the line if they do.

poor scheduling poor management. patients missed due to poor communication poorly trained staffed. nurses in field have minimal high tech skills management have less skills. current administrators dictators with minimal field experience lead by fear not by example. best part of job was taking care of patients hardest part of my job was dealing with scheduling and management. over 50 emails a day to limit verbal communication and to dump on field staff. new computer devices allow scheduling and management to change schedules at any time without first notifying staff adding to my day many times as much as 5 new patients without my approval forcing me to work overtime without any regard for my personal time. salary was only ok because of overtime hourly rate was the same i made 3 years before no raise in 5 years working for company no added benefits the whole time i worked for company

When i started at Mission the morale was high and no one complained about their job often volunteering to do extra when needed. There was a shift in leadership as well as focus making things money driven verses patient care driven. Staffing would provide per-diem staff a full schedule before full time staff. I notified HR of my many concerns, normally I do not go to such measures but these things needed addressing. I was listened to but without any kind of honest investigation into the concerns. After doing an assessment and deeming that the patient did not meet Medicare standards was told that I would go back and admit the patient anyway. I would not go back so a different nurse was sent and the family refused service due to no skilled need, at what point does it become harassment?  Ultimately I left due to the unethical practices and the consistent hiring of nurses without experience.and inadequate training once hired to be an efficient part of the team.

Not very organized though. Some days you will only get 1 patient -- and you get paid BY THE PATIENT! So your paycheck is always different. If you need stability, this isn't the job for you. 
However, the bosses and owners are super nice. They try to help out with everything you need. They are approachable and likeable. They are down to earth. I like the management. They forgo the over-professionalism and instead are more personable and tangeable. 
Pay is self-driven; but if there are no patients... you can't make money. 
Benefits are mediocre. If you have a family, they are pretty expensive. 401K is non-existent for now... they are "working on it". 
Mission is GROWING, GROWING, GROWING! Great place to work if you are looking for advancement! Their higher-up's are regular people: RN's, PT's, PTA's, etc. No special degrees or education.

arrive at 0630. Take report from off going shift. Assess pt status on walking rounds and document in chart. Med administration at given times, carrying out Dr orders, walking rounds with team members to each patient room. Admissions and discharges throughout the day. Patient education ongoing with updating of plan of care. Learned better time management. Coworkers very helpful and friendly. New manager who failed to make me feel she was competent. Uneasy feeling that she was not sincere. Places blame without solid proof of situation. Does not give clear examples of things she accuses this worker of...very vague.Most enjoyable part is interacting with patients and making a difference in their stay. Hardest part of my job working 3+ days in a row.

A typical day at work includes monitoring and processing applicable payables for that day and updating the company bank reconciliation tool for the CFO and Executive Director. The organizational culture is very laid back with a collective aim to assist and follow through on tasks, even if they are outside of your scope. This is excellent practice for problem solving and collaborating with other co-workers. The hardest part of the job is keeping up with the explosive growth that Mission Healthcare experiences. Sometimes this created challenges in obtaining the appropriate approvals and context for purchases. The most enjoyable part of the job was being rewarded for suggesting different solutions to internal controls. This is highly valuable in a growing company  - to see a need for a solution and being able to implement it.

This was the worst company I have ever worked for.  Constant harassment from management with absolutely no down time.  Employees are expected to work 24 hours a day on computer, for which no documentation time was paid.  This company does not care  about their employees.  I have been humiliated in public on several occasions as they use public destinations such as coffee houses as their meeting places.  They make promises which are not kept.  They assume no responsibiity for car accidents or if you are unlucky enough to contract infestations or anything else communicable.  Nor do they care if you subject patients to the same.  This was a nightmare, and it's hard to believe that a company can get away with the things that they do.  In addition, they constantly underpaid employees as the norm, making employees wait and fight for what was owed.
