The staff is great not the management definitely not the administrator under staffed always they promise it will get better and it never does it just seems to get worse it’s stressful it’s no longer a long term care facility it’s a rehab the lights are always on they expect to much it is not what people think you think your going in to care for people who can’t care for themselves instead your going in to get people up and ready for therapy who don’t want you bothering them and expect you to do everything that they are supposed to be doing as part of their care plan I loved this place but it has gone to down considerably They should have kept it as a long term care facility. The staff on second floor are the best!! They get yelled at and treated like horrible but still come back. Oh let’s not forget people get hired in making more then people that have been there for years!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Management  cares ,they are very helpful.   They are  team players.,they will work the floor any shift even midnight if need be . They really care about the residents and staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Staffing at times ,1 call off can mess up the day.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Most coworkers are Helpful and friendly. Person centered for residents and staff .

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Starting the day with report and rounding. Then assisting the residents with daily activities  like bathing,dressing and eating and charting and laughter.

The pay is low considering the hard and stressful work environment. Talking to administration and your supervisors/managers  is nearly impossible; they easily manipulate the conversation to make your concerns your fault.

There aren't any opportunities for advancement. Promotions only happen within administration and management.

This is a place to work for maybe a year simply to gain job experience. After a year, move on to bigger and better opportunities. 

Mon Valley Care Center has really gone downhill since new administration took over in 2023. It used to be an environment where everyone was family and we took pride in the care we provided. Now it’s all about money. The residents are just numbers. The same goes for the staff. Long term staff are mostly gone replaced by friends and family of new administration. Health insurance is no longer available. I used to be proud to say I worked here. Not anymore.

To each their own opinion.  I've had a good experience with the company, staff and patients. HOWEVER, agreeing to cross train and help in other areas have taken me away from my primary job responsibilities for which I was not hired for.  Staffing issues are not employee issues.

Not enough nursing assistants to care for the residents.  Constant demands were placed on the aides by the RN's and management. 
If there weren't enough aides on the floor at the time of the 2-10:30 shift, many aides worked alone lifting and transporting the residents when two aides were required.  I really have nothing good to say about employment at this job.  The turnover rate at Mon Valley Care Center was  very high.  No one stayed long because they were over-worked and under-payed.

I have worked in the activities department for a few years and it has been very rewarding. My manager has been the most wonderful manager I’ve ever had at a job, and I have always felt advocated for. My schedule has always been accommodated as needed for appointments, sickness, etc. The relationships I have built with the residents is so fulfilling, knowing I can make their day to day lives more enjoyable and have genuine experiences with them. My day-to-day isn’t overly stressful and I am lucky to have this position.

I love my work. I love what I do. I love my residents.  We are skilled nursing not just long term care but rehab also. We take care of a wide variety of patients and have at times a high acuity.  The demands are immense but the rewards are not money they are knowing that you did the best you could and help another person. It's good karma.  The nurses on the day shift are amazing and our ADON works as hard if not harder then the CNAs.  We often have our DON working on the floor answering call lights and our administrator is very visible.  I do love my job.

Under paid for hard work we put in (all departments), no growth in housekeeping department. Management is indecisive, and inconsistent. 

The hardest part of the job can be timing (sometimes), and being spread to thin. 

I love working with, and around the residents. I might not be giving direct care, but you still interact, and take care of basic needs i.e, getting them water, or a tissue box. They are all thankful and kind for the job I do, and that's rewarding enough in itself.
