I would not recommend working here with this management team on board. A typical day at work, overworked and unappreciated. I learned that favoritism exists and is promoted within the new management team, and that they are only concerned about themselves and their own agendas. Management considered themselves a team, but everyone else who worked there was not heard, only talked at; your words are twisted and talked down to. This has created a very unprofessional, hostile environment, which was and is the cause of the low staffing issues and the inability to retain help. Many very good employees are walking out because of the toxic environment and being bullied by the ones they refer to as their top employees, and the bullies are those who are on the favoritism list. Management could have prevented MANY major issues in the building; sitting in the office all day does not fix anything. The head of nursing needs to get on the floor and work when short staffed; burning out staff is not good. The concern should be about the residents. Management acts like they are concerned, and are totally gaslighting you. When things roll downhill, they blame everyone else to cover up for themselves. Management should have experience before being hired. The corporation needs to take a better look at this building.

Working as a concierge at Monarch Communities has been a truly rewarding experience. The organization places genuine value on hospitality, professionalism, and creating meaningful moments for residents and their families. Each day brings opportunities to build relationships, anticipate needs, and provide personalized service that helps residents feel supported, safe, and at home.

Leadership encourages teamwork and communication, making it easy to collaborate across departments to solve problems quickly and thoughtfully. The environment is fast-paced, but the culture is positive and respectful, with a shared commitment to excellence. I appreciate how Monarch invests in staff development and empowers concierges to take initiative while maintaining high service standards.

What stands out most is the gratitude from residents and families. Knowing that my work contributes to their comfort and happiness makes every interaction worthwhile. I’m proud to be part of a community that consistently strives to deliver compassionate, five-star service.

Let’s be real here. This is a nursing home job. Except with no state oversight, which is what it desperately needs. This place has mainly nursing home residents with a few independents mixed in. The facility and staff are not equipped to handle these type of conditions and have no business doing so. Patient medications go missing regularly or are not given. Patients have suffered from various forms of neglect (examples include insulin levels going dangerously unchecked to the point of hospitalization and someone lost a toe due to nursing neglect). Upper management has a high turnover rate and that has contributed to the toxicity which starts from the top of the company and trickles down amongst all the lower staff. Nobody is happy with their job here. You will end up burnt out and miserable if you apply here. Please look elsewhere. There are much better places out there that don’t just care about money and provide the bare minimum for their residents/staff. This place isn’t it.

My experience as the wellness director was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Communication was often unclear or completely lacking, which created confusion among staff and negatively affected the work environment. Concerns brought forward by employees were frequently dismissed instead of being addressed appropriately.
There was also a lack of organization and accountability within the department. Schedules changed without notice, important follow-ups were missed, and staff often felt unsupported during difficult situations. Rather than promoting teamwork and positive leadership, the atmosphere felt stressful and discouraging.
Overall, my experience left me feeling undervalued and disappointed in the leadership provided.

I have had the pleasure of working for Monarch Southbury for over six years.  In addition, my mother-in-law is a resident and has been in Southbury for over four years.  The Corporate Team, Southbury Team and so many others are all very dedicated to their role, to our residents and staff, and are a joy to work with.  I have seen the countless hours committed to the needs of the residents and have been blessed that my mother-in-law is so well taken care of.  She had been vibrant, active and thoroughly enjoyed all the activities up until recently where she is now declining at the age of 96.  We are in good hands with the caring and attentive staff and thankful for Monarch Southbury.

The ED at Brandywine was a pleasure to work for but had no control over major problems. Corporate Monarch indecisive about simple things from job title, computer access to not matching 401k. Staffing was a nightmare, work life balance was unheard of and my regional support was a joke. I hardly had time to perform my actual job which was compliance with state regulations. They changed documentation systems twice in the down if 4 months. The MAR/pharmacy was such that medications errors were easily made.  This was the most disorganized unsupportive corporation I have truly worked for in 40 plus years as working as a nurse. I feared for my license.

I have the privilege of leading a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care and creating a warm, supportive environment for our residents. They have no staff for the dining room constant callouts no help from HR for hiring candidates

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They have a constant fruit fly problem. That’s actually disgraceful the kitchen needs to be shut down and cleaned properly.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Call outs constantly  bugs, in garbage cans
Dirty dishes, and soiled linens

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing, poor management no people skills.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some of their regionals need to learn some people skills, very arrogant, you would think they would be more humble in a position that was only offered to them due to their connections in the company. Very top heavy company now and the communities suffer.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Front line staff are great, it's a shame they get looked down upon.

I worked here for about 10 years, and it gets worse with time. The food has become awful, the management and ownership changed at least 3 or maybe 4 times, the solid directors are fired, and the horrible ones stay. Aides quit constantly because we have up to 17 people on a shift to take care of. I have worked in assisted living for over 20 years, and I've never seen such a mess, it's too bad, because the residents are very nice, and should receive better care.
