You will learn so much while working at Morgan and Morgan. Depending on the attorney you work will affect how much you learn and what opportunities you have. For example when I worked for the SS department my attorney took me with her to our hearings in the area. I was able to observe and meet the judges. The judges allowed me to ask questions after and before the hearing if time permitted. When I was switched to Premise my attorney actually scheduled time so I could go over cases with him and ask questions about why we do certain things and why we don't. My coworkers were amazing and were always there to help me out or figure things out. 

However, management is where it fell through. You need clearance to move desks. They had me as a legal assistant but then had me working as a pre-suit secretary because they were short one. It was supposed to be temporary but it continued for well over 6 months. What it meant was not only was I helping my initial attorney with his pre-suit cases and his litigation cases I was also assigned to a case manager for another attorney where i did various tasks for her cases. I also as a pre-suit secretary had to cover reception for breaks or when she was just not there. This took me away from initial job a lot so I couldn't do everything my initial attorney wanted. Luckily he was understanding. 
I talked to management about it multiple times and was told they are working on it but was given no resolution except to deal with it and be better. I still did everything I could to make sure cases weren't suffering.
Overtime has to be approved by regional management if you dont get approval and your not salary and you still do overtime it gets taken out of your attorney paycheck. 
John morgan sends very inappropriate emails. They will make you laugh mad and sometimes act in disgust. Most people just delete them when they come in. 
There's high turnover if you are pre-suit secretary, legal assistant, case manager, or reception. Consensus you dont get paid enough. 
However it's a great job to get your foot in the door and get better job opportunities. You will either love or hate your attorneys and they will determine how long you stay. I didn't want to leave because I loved working for my attorney but just wasn't getting paid enough

The organization requires a self-starter mentality as no one will hold your hand throughout the process. While the organization provides several tools, you must take the initiative to teach yourself how to use them. Additionally, the attorneys are not thoroughly versed in the system's operation, leaving you with the responsibility to learn on your own. The role provides a significant amount of experience; however, if you lack knowledge of civil procedures or the steps required to move cases from intake to settlement, it may present a challenge.

I came in with a lot of experience in my departmen. However, I cannot imagine how I would have navigated without it, as the training provided is minimal. Initially, the training was conducted via Zoom, but I’ve noticed layely, it has shifted to pre-recorded sessions. The organization is making attempts to improve its training, but the efforts have yet to yield substantial results. The organization invests little in its staff, excluding attorneys. During the first year, staff members receive only 1.6 PTO days per pay period, no sick leave, and only three days of unpaid bereavement leave. Their 401 K Plan is a mutual grow index fund with medium risk and they match 25¢ for each contributed $1. There are supposed to be company happy hours and fun outtings but Nashville office is the red head step child of Morgan and Morgan and while we get to see lots of pics of other office partaking, unfortunately we do not. 

While there are some attorneys who I hold in high regard, many of them delegate all the work to their staff. Their bonus structure doesn't reflect the staff’s hard work and staff have have little control in the matter. Bonuses are only attainable to staff who work for attorneys that have been with the organization for a significant duration and cherry-pick the more valuable cases. So you can work your little heart out, yet not receive bonuses if your attorney is handling smaller cases or taking small settlements. However, they are still getting paid they just no longer have to pay you out of their pay checks. Moreover, every department provides bonuses except worker’s comp, thus, if you are placed with a WC attorney, it is best not to expect a bonus.

Call center like

There is a lot of Micromanagement. At times it can be suffocating but it is definitely overbearing. You are pinged for every minute, according to them, "unaccounted for; for example, "going 2 minutes over your lunch break"...literally. There is absolutely no work/life balance and expect to work at least one weekend day for a full 8 hours. For holidays, if you usually work on a day that a holiday falls on, then you are expected to work on that holiday for a full 8 hours. It is difficult to get a day off as well. They advise you to "swap shifts" with another employee, but it is only approved if the employee has the exact same job as you... for instance, if you are bilingual, you must swap with someone else who is bilingual in the same language. It can take weeks for you to swap with another, virtually turning a simple day off request into a complicated ordeal. Cultures vary depending on the departments, at this location. There is a shady culture. Something is always going on and expect to hear "it's our policy" a lot. Scheduling is horrendous, whatever the outcome, expect to get a schedule that you will not be satisfied with. For example, your days off may be Tues & Wed, and you'll work full 8-hour shifts for the remaining days (yes.. that includes saturday and Sunday..full 8 hours. if you are new, there is a high chance that you will work until 8pm)...They will advise that it changes due to seniority.. BUT! you will find people who were hired at the same time as you get earlier shifts and more feasible schedules automatically.. but they still advise that seniority is honored (*__*) ... SMH.  Also, lets not forget about the point system... basically, you are handled like you are in elementary school with a rolling backpack... HOWEVER, let's not be all dark... there is a light at the end of the tunnel! If you are in a different department... there is a likelihood the you will like your job. So, definitely be straightforward about your availability in your interview and application (they WILL throw it in your face, if you have a discrepancy with your assigned schedule, so definitely remember what you checked for availability). I feel that if I was in another department, my experience would not have been AS intolerable.

Work-life balance
Sometimes there is mandatory overtime. Majority of the time you will have the same schedule but you have to work your way up to a good schedule. You have to start at nights and weekends and gradually you will get a better schedule based on seniority.

Pay & benefits
My pay and benefits at Morgan & Morgan are not in line with the amount of work that you have to do. The training is almost non-existent. It is a sink or swim environment. If you don't take the initiative to learn the work on your own you will fail. Calls are graded based on opinion. If you are an over-achiever it will not show in your pay. You will be compensated the same as those who under-perform. You are expected to handle inbound/outbound calls for  many case types. You will call the same people over and over essentially doing telemarketing. Clients will get upset because their request are not handled properly because of the old computer system they have and the crack of the whip micro-management style;  meaning they rather you call the same people just to keep you busy. Majority of the time clients will call and you have to turn them down (you can't take the case) and the worst part is we can't tell the client why. It is false advertising. The firm will take the case only if the bucks are there so therefore they are NOT for the people.

Management
In general, managers at Morgan & Morgan do their job. They are only doing what their superiors tell them to do. The TL's are also frustrated but they try to wear a smile to appease management which is why their coaching comes off as fake. The VP is out of touch and should be replaced asap.

Overall
If you really need the job, apply, and get out quickly. They will hire anyone which is why the morale is so poor. This firm operates more as a call center. It will never get better. The VP is the worse. She is very condescending and treats employees like children. It is a very fake atmosphere and the rose colored glasses will be removed after training. The work is repetitive. You need to have thick skin (for the clients), be able to multi-task, learn quickly, and be self motivated. Don't expect much from the company. Genuinely care about helping people while you are there, get the experience, and get out.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked with some really amazing people who were kind and helpful. I was fortunate to be apart of a POD with 3 other intelligent and knowledgeable individuals who were more like a family to me. I really enjoyed working with this firm, regardless of the inevitable circumstances that quickly disintegrated any passion or desire that I once felt for personal injury law, not necessarily the field itself but the way this firm operates was not gratifying for me. I stayed as long as I did because of my colleagues, we made an amazing team, and I couldn’t walk away from the POD knowing how much they needed the help. Truly grateful for all that I learned through working at M&M, I was honestly devastated that my career with this firm turned out the way it did, it was incredibly hard to deal with the pressure of being loaded with insane expectations without adequate help. I felt let down and sad that this firm couldn’t do better than what it was expecting from their employees, there are some incredibly talented people at M&M, it’s really unfortunate they somewhat take their employees for granted. 
Overall, it’s worth the experience & you will learn a lot about PI from working with this firm, but at what cost? 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Inadequate help, lack of auditing case files for accuracy or progression, which then go unnoticed for months/years & when they finally address the situation and remove the problem, those case files are then distributed amongst the strong employees who have to extinguish the massive dumpster fires & try to maintain your credibility/sanity. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing, loved all 2 office buildings I worked at. Loved my colleagues & the attorneys are all wonderful people with great personalities. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dante’s 6th circle of h3ll, for lack of better words.

Morgan & Morgan was one of the most disappointing work environments I have ever experienced. The firm advertises itself as caring about people, but internally it often feels like the opposite. Management in some offices appears to be heavily controlled by higher offices that dictate policies without understanding the people actually doing the work or the personal lives of employees.

One of the most upsetting things I witnessed was how little compassion there was for employees dealing with family responsibilities. For example, my mother was terminated after taking time to care for her elderly uncle. Instead of supporting someone who was trying to do the right thing for their family, management treated it like an inconvenience. For a company that markets itself as fighting for families, it felt extremely hypocritical.

The management culture in the office was also incredibly stressful and often unprofessional. Communication was poor, leadership could be hostile, and there was a lot of unnecessary pressure placed on staff without proper support. There were frequent situations where cases felt rushed or handled poorly due to unrealistic expectations and internal chaos.

Employees are left feeling like numbers rather than people. The environment can be toxic, and the stress level is far beyond what should be considered reasonable for the work being done. There is also a lot of internal confusion about procedures and compliance expectations, which only adds to the frustration.

Overall, the experience left me with the impression that the company’s public image does not reflect the reality many employees deal with behind the scenes. If Morgan & Morgan truly wants to stand by its motto of “For the People,” it needs to start by treating its own employees with basic respect, compassion, and professionalism.


● Overall
I could only recommend this job to anyone who REALLY needs a job and just needs something to help pay bills and afford to live. This place is awful and as soon as I got a new job offer, I couldn’t have left fast enough. Training was a joke, then due to covid we were all immediately sent home to work which was nice to have the comfort of being at home. But as soon as I was asked to return to the office, things have gotten bad. They monitor your bathroom breaks, how often you go and how long you’re away from the computer. So then you get these little emails saying to watch your bathroom breaks. But it’s a job that requires a lot of talking, so you need a lot of water to not have a dry throat but I guess management wouldn’t understand since they don’t take the calls listening to people complain for a long time on the phone. Then there’s a department called IST who help you with any questions, I did call IST a lot for help but my manager didn’t seem to care when I tried to explain my shift didn’t align with hers, and working from home I didn’t know who to get in touch with for any help during a consultation. But it didn’t matter, my manager’s goal was to make me feel like I’m always wrong. Many women wrote if you’re a woman you’ll have a target on your back and be driven to the point of quitting and I didn’t think much of it. But as soon as I returned to the office, I really did start to experience that and think maybe it is true.  The call volume is never ending, what was very hard was listening to people’s sad stories but because Morgan and Morgan has very high monetary loss amounts in order for them to look over the case, many cases get rejected, so once you turn the client down you have to get yelled at. But not only that we lie to clients saying we are trained by the attorneys to provide the consultation, which isn’t true. Overall, management was very bad

I learned a lot, but I would not go back. 

Some people are incredible at their jobs, while others do virtually nothing, and the clients know. Pretty much every employee has more clients than they are capable of handling. Caseloads can be in the hundreds at times. It is literally impossible to have a grasp on 100 individual cases. As stressful of a workplace as it was, Case Managers could not access their work email at home, so work-life balance was still possible. I never worked outside my eight hour work day, and I was able to set my hours to start and end my day early. 

Not sure if it is still like this, but at the time, they were always restructuring. Aside from the turnover, there were constant changes to the work hierarchy and always new plans for the organization. It felt like the company knew there was a problem but had no idea how to fix it.  

The stress far exceeds the pay. The base pay is pretty low. Employees are incentivized with bonuses: sometimes these are great, other times the bonus structure randomly changes and you get nothing. Because employers are not required to give bonuses, it is kind of at their discretion to take them away. 

I was one of the top people of my department and completed 452 cases in one month. Raises here are basically nothing.
-my first year i got a .80 cent raise and 2nd year i got a .60 cent raise. I was completely overworked and constantly having to help my team and even supervisor all the time, thats all i got. Pay is low for the amount of work.
Benefits here is barely the bare minimum. $2k deductible and even after $2k the insurance still didnt cover things i needed. The “basic” plan per month was around $210 and you still had to pay out of pocket for everything.

My supervisor was not fair when it came to emergencies/time off. I was asked when i was going to clock back in after a family emergency however, my teammates would be able to take days off and call out as much as they could.
They give special schedules to some teammates and expect you to pick up their slack when they are barely there due to their schedule.

They had massive layoffs just to re-hire people at lower rates.

NO ROOM FOR GROWTH! This company will not teach you anything new and you will be stuck in your position. Do not expect to grow here

Most importantly, i had two weeks of legacy PTO and Morgan and Morgan refused to pay it out after i left. Even after constantly working hard and taking on multiple work loads and barely calling out. We use to get more vacation time until the start of 2025 where now we only get 1 week of vacation no matter how long you have been there and you use it or you lose it.
NO SICK DAYS!
 This company only cares about saving themselves money and putting it in their pockets. 

Please find a better place. Many law firms that actually value their employees. This place is a sweat shop.

Lack of structure and management, lack of training, the firm is laying off left and right and is unstable.

The amount of cases not evenly distributed and management, including Human Resources.

Horrible. I have worked at many different firms this is the most unorganized and mismanaged firm that I have ever been hired for.  It was a bait and switch interview.

Communications with clients, court, counsel, and others. Conduct legal research and factual investigation. Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses. Draft and server summons. Coordinate and summarize depositions.  Prepare trial binders and exhibits. Drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court. Performing administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics). Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices. Aid attorney with interrogatories and other discovery requests. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Liaise between trial teams and
internal/external third parties. Witness preparation. Assisting with case settlements. Calendaring. Other tasks as requested by the attorney. Personal injury practice.
