In my short period at MPHC I endured a lot of disrespect and back-stabbbing. A day consist of clocking in getting with my Dr and my fellow co-worker to prepare for the day. In my opinion the supervisors let a lot of things slide and turn the other cheek when it comes to MA's that have been there longer and the NP. If you are new everything is your fault regardless if you did it or not. A few times I was thrown under bus by not only the girls that have been there 3+yrs but as well as NP. When I would explain myself it was like in one ear out the other. I was still lectured and still written up. When I took my complaints to HR nothing was done about it. Pretty much nobody stuck up for you. It got so bad that NP and MD were causing scenes and yelling in the hallways where anyone could hear them throwing fits like toddlers and our supervisors did nothing, all they had to say was who upset them. I have never seen or experienced such disrespect in my whole life until I worked here. You have MA's sleeping the security guards, Supervisors discussing everyone's business with other coworkers, supervisors making their own hours but god forbid you get sick and didn't put in a two weeks notice, MD's and NP causing scenes and openly yelling and starting arguments with their MA's in the hallways, Providers openly talking about patients diagnosis and symptoms with anybody that would lend a listening ear. I regret taking this job I had other offers but I given broken promises and I was foolish enough to fall for it.

Favoritism from management and the medical assistant leads will determine how quickly you get a promotion and the amount of slack you get. If any situation occurs, they only listen to one side (the favorite MA) and come storming to you without hearing your side. You must stand up and defend yourself because they always need a fall guy. The leads would also pick on very busy MAs, telling them to pick up the slack and ignore the slacker MA that sat there and gossiped all day long, not picking up calls. The MA leads would sit at a desk and will not get up, no matter how many times you message them until you approach them. Promotion is biased in terms of who gets the meeting first, and you must constantly remind them to "set up the meeting" to get the raise and title. The manager is incompetent that they can't even set up a meeting for the promotion. Lastly, it's very cliquey among the MA, especially if you don't speak Spanish. Every day you just hear gossip about other MAs and even amongst themselves when that person isn't around. Management's "solution" was to tell everyone to speak Spanish only with patients. That did nothing. Working there was very toxic when your coworkers gave you side eyes as you passed them and visibly got upset when partnered with someone they didn't like. The culture is so toxic because the MAs working there are young female adults who do not want to grow up and are stuck in their high school mindset with their intelligence at a plateau.

MPHC has a great integrated care model in theory. Management has been somewhat inflexible about adapting to post-pandemic healthcare and the needs of both its patients and its providers resulting in a lot of turnover.  Maximum remote work allowed is 1 day currently, although a decent amount of the work you do in the office is telehealth anyway. All provider positions are productivity driven and there are eventual consequences if you cannot meet quota, even if the reasons for reduced productivity are out of your control. Morale varies based on site. As a behavioral health consultant, you will not provide therapy, rather the position is more crisis intervention, brief interventions, monitoring, and case management/providing referrals. Generally, they expect you to take a full day PTO for personal appointments even though the position is a salaried position. Coordinating PTO can also be a challenge due to staffing. 

Benefits are average, pay ranges from average to below average depending on what schedule you work. It's not a bad job, but it isn't great either. Their motto "Service over self" feels less about providing excellent care to the patients and more about appeasing what management wants. 

I worked here for a few years until I quit. I was poorly paid, unappreciated, over worked, and management was a joke! They literally train you to follow certain protocols with threats of punishment, then get upset when you actually do them. I don't know if it was the inappropriate racial/body comments, conversations in which doing drugs or alcohol were supposed to be cool, the negative comments about the patients, or the fact that you either need to fit in with such revolting behaviors to be considered a model employee. Yes, management knows/participated. Make no mistake, initially the environment was great. It was only after I was there for a little while that I began to notice. All I will say is there wasn't a high turnover rate during my time there, but now it's hard to find anyone who isn't new; possibly because they had me picking up the slack of those who were too lazy to do their requirements. My advice if you decide to pursue, watch your back and keep your head down until you can find a place that will truly value you and your skills. 

Management is a joke and very misleading. You are led to fail. Imagine being told one thing and something different from another superior, because that’s basically what you will be stepping your foot into with the type of management system MPHC uses. Your Operation Managers are uneducated, misleading, and do not hold the skills to keep you. They are just leveled up Medical Assistant’s with no degree or educational background that qualify them to be the true Leaders for MPHC... Turnover rate 10/10 due to Management. Micromanage 10/10 from leads/preceptors who are not really your managers lol but try to be so hard. I feel bad for all the patients that would be talked about by the SO called LEAD’s and following MA’s who can’t LEAD for themselves.. Your LEADS are never around to SUPPORT or ENCOURAGE you. They’re always on A Starbucks Run while on the CLOCK. On their Phones (while micromanaging and telling employees to be off their personal). I could go on. But I’ll leave this here for now, and future job seekers choose different other than MPHC 

Very busy place, lots of irate patients, and no management to support front office personnel. Any time a question regarding policy came up free only answer was, "I'll look into that and get back to you." Management never did get back and we were left with unanswered questions for weeks on end. Workload is ridiculous for the lousy pay. If you're front desk, you're basically expected to be an office manager for minimum wage. Breaks are not encouraged and you'd better have a very good excuse for walking away from your desk for any amount of time.  I seriously regret having worked here, although i quit already. Poor management, poor pay, sorry benefits....it's not even worth the time to submit your resume. Might be a good place for someone with absolutely no work history to get experience, but if you're already a seasoned employee and expect this place to offer you what you're worth or any kind of career, you're wasting your time.

This is not an organization for new providers or for those providers who truly care about helping their patients. The organization does not support providers, they do not provide resources or support for you to safely manage the complex patient population. It is a toxic work environment with way too many medical assistants, who spend their days gossiping rather than helping with the patient care/flow of the day/ acting like support staff. The organization needs more care coordinators and nurses not inconsistent medical assistants who have more issues than the complex patients. With that being said, there are some amazing medical assistances, unfortunately who you get for medical assistances can really make or break your experience within the organization and there are so many inconsistencies that it makes it impossible to sustain any even slight work life balance. It is truly sad to see new providers come in so happy and eager to learn and then leave depressed, lifeless, and beat looking. 

Most of the patients at this FQHC organization are grateful for the medical service you provide.  There is a fair share of non-English-speaking patients, and you're expected to communicate with them through remote virtual translators.  The patient absenteeism rate is extremely high, and the organization will backfill patient time slots with walk-in patients.  The demands from a high-risk patient population compounded with poor practice management make the work environment stressful, toxic and ineffective in delivering good-quality healthcare.  Furthermore, HR representatives and practice chairpersons/directors/managers/supervisors will use retaliation as a tactic to intimidate employees from expressing their concerns.  Any escalation to leadership team is met with no acknowledgment or feedback.

A typical day at Mountain Park was very busy. I would receive paper encounters from the billers and code for clean claim submission. Verify all Medicare electronic claims that codes have been entered correctly for submission. I have learned to set up Medicare for submission through Ivans, Vision Share and Ability. Also how to utilize the DDE system. I posted payments for Medicare from Easy Print remits and learned how to audit provider charts. I have learned EMR through ECW billing program as well as Centricity. My co-workers were very supportive of me and I looked forward to going to work every day. Management was very supportive as well. I if had a suggestion on something, they aknowledged my thoughts and gave me a chance to try it out. The hardest part of job was learning the DDE system. The Enjoyable part of the job was the coding.

Don't be drawn in by higher pay. MP is a terribly managed company and is a revolving door for corporate employees. Growth and personal lives do not exist here. Most feel very frustrated to realize you will never be a part of the inner circle regardless of your experience. The bad environment starts with the top executive and trickles all the way down to how the management team treats their revolving door employees. Where you come from doesn't matter, what you bring to the table doesn't matter, what you believe your job can be doesn't matter. The first time you feel like you are being laughed at, remember what you read here. Unless you want to be looking for a job again in about 6 months, don't waste your time.
