I worked around 2 years and a few months with Mouser before personal issues and conflicts with the attendance system lead to my termination. I will say I do not hold this against the company as a whole as I feel that those who come into the job as a customer service/account rep will be better situated for the position than I was. 

Overall the job was not difficult, we had our own fairly generous work space, two monitors with a fairly reliable thin client to work off of the main server. I had started with order processing when I first started, typically reviewing orders that had issues flagged to them, be it late payments, new customer issues, payment methods being rejected, possible fraud issues, and working with the customers to get these issues resolved with the other teams in our area. Overall the workload was hectic at times but very doable as someone with very low energy and I enjoyed the problem solving aspects of the job. Customers are usual fair of average Joe tech hobbyists to big companies and contracts, though typically the bigger and more frequent the customer, the more likely they will end up with a specialist. Coming from a retail background it wont be much different in terms of average customer interaction, just through calls, chat and email. No complaints there.

The building and facilities are under constant growth, fairly decently maintained though there was issues with plumbing and the electrical system that would occasionally knock out power. It was usually resolved in the day but we had some times were we just had to pack up and head home an hour early, though we still received our full day pay. I think the management is fairly competent overall and I really did enjoy who I worked under on our end as they were fairly flexible, willing to try new things and mostly only got tough if the higher-ups really started to push the grind stone closer. I've heard some horror stories when it comes to some things that I'm glad I never had to experience, but overall the team and management/HR I worked with were very VERY kind and did their best for us as a team.

Overall compensation I've heard is kind of lower than the industry average, but I received three raises along side inexpensive health/dental/vision plans, 401k and other benefits which included discounts, giveaways and such. They constantly had free lunch/dinner days, there always seemed to be some sort of party/luncheon or something going on for freebies around the office somewhere, decent if pricey food trucks every other week or so and some neat tours of the main warehouse facility which was cool and always got me giddy for the company.

I eventually moved up to work with the customer accounts and took time cleaning up issues with that and overall really enjoyed the change in position. The weekly schedule was consistent, lovely team to work with, much more email and chat work than calls which I appreciated. 

My only issue came with the change from the original schedule system to a much stricter Kronos system which ultimately I was not able to keep up with given personal issues. Overall this has been seen as a negative from the opinions I've heard, but I'm sure its manageable for those who have the attitude to work with it. 

Another comment I'll advise is that during hiring periods there does seem to be a fair bit of turnaround. A lot of folks had come and gone in the two years I was there, even long time folks, for various reasons. This is a good job if you can really like the company and find a way up, otherwise its a good job to work while you're finding better opportunities as the work load is manageable, lower management is very helpful and kind and the benefits help offset the middling pay and they do have a lot of nice little events and goodies. PTO, sick days etc are actually pretty decent as you can essentially use your yearly PTO early and can essentially take up to two-three weeks off in a year on PTO alone, but you have to make sure to work it out early, calling out the day of, especially on a Monday or Friday can severely mark against you for a full year. 

Honestly I don't know much about the CEO or anyone higher-up but there always seemed to be an air of discomfort when they showed up. I don't feel like they may be the absolute worst folks, I image upper management does require a level of attitude I don't fully appreciate, but I've also heard good things about Glen Smith and bad things, but the position never really put me in contact with them so its hard for me to say. The company was doing well, a bit outdated and favoring sales and warehouse improvements first and foremost but I can definitely say there are many, many worse places to work.

I foolishly worked for Mouser Electronics as a warehouse associate for almost four years believing that this was a good job to have as a full time college student. I couldn't have been more wrong, but a good takeaway is that Mouser Electronics taught me what a toxic workplace looks like. 

The job itself is not difficult, but management is abusive and mostly comprised of sociopaths. You can tell by their actions. Employees are scored statistically and expected to meet a certain percentage, but even if you score 100% you will often be reprimanded for not doing better. I think there were only one or two warehouse management members who actually came off as genuine human beings, but unfortunately I never worked with them. 

Warehouse workers are required to wear these tacky Mouser T-Shirts (Monday-Thursday) and they are also required to pay for them too, which is another big red flag. This company rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars but refuses to pay for their employees uniforms. I'm sure the CEO is just saving up for a new yacht. 

I started out as a part time order puller (5hrs a day), eventually transitioning to full time to pay the bills, but as I quickly learned more on the job, I was trained to work in other areas of the warehouse such as the consolidation department and the shipping department. I was never given a raise for this, which is a huge red flag. 

Full time hours are M-F, 42 hours a week. Mondays are 10 hour days, the rest of the week is comprised of 8 hour days. Overtime is mandatory. You get a certain amount of PTO hours every year which renews itself and unused hours can be redeemed as currency. If you run out of PTO before the end of the year, you will get fired. 

Favoritism and nepotism is the name of the game at Mouser Electronics. Many peopler who work here across the ranks are related to each other by blood, some of them even working directly together in Supervisor-Subordinate relationships in certain parts of the warehouse. Often, these people come from extremely large, low income families of a certain popular ethnicity here in Texas. You can easily tell who will get preferential treatment just by knowing their last name. 

There is a "share the work" concept across the warehouse for the orders that come in and some employees who "work harder" than others are given a higher wage. However, pursuing this goal will get you berated by your team because the person who is already "doing more work" is one of the favorites or blood related to a supervisor, other employees on the team, management, etc... Essentially, you have no chance at an actual career at Mouser Electronics through the warehouse/logistics sector unless you are already related by blood or marriage to management or large amounts of employees.

I could go on about this place, but then I'd be typing up this review for hours. If you made it to the end of this review and you are still considering working for Mouser Electronics then I definitely question your sanity. 


I have worked there for a number of years and management is more than a bit quirky. I like the job itself, but pay is very poor even with a college degree and prior experience. Health benefits are quite poor compared to my colleagues in similar positions at other companies, as well. Opportunity to advance is excellent if you are extremely polite and professional and never let your guard down, if you are attractive, and willing to do strict face time 8 - 5 everyday while getting paid about 30% less than your actual market value. It helps to be male. Successful upper management has typically never worked anywhere else. CEO parks his Masarati in a reserved spot near the front door, which I feel is in poor taste given that most the workers are underpaid. I have been looking for another job for about 2 years now, but due to family issues am restricted to this location in my search, thus the long wait. PRO: Fairly decent job security, since I have never heard of there having ever been a lay-off. Small company mentality. CONS: No lunch places nearby. No cafeteria, just a bunch of vending machines. HR is not very sophisticated or as aware of lawsuit-triggers as larger corporations, which is kind of funny. No open door policy, although they might think they do. Expect  favoritism. In some positions, they not only pay poorly but treat you like high schoolers and check your work constantly regardless of how long you have been there or how good your work is. Free lunches about 3 -5 times per year. Quotas based on subjective standards (e.g., a very involved task gets the same credit as a quick one). White collar workers have the same benefits as the min. wage warehouse workers, where employment has huge turn-over rate. Management has special parking up front. You get in trouble if you put girl scout cookies on your desk or any other school fundraisers appear on your desk; no selling of anything, but the company can and does solicit donations from employees for United Way and other charities. In reality, I am guessing that most the employees could use the donated canned goods themselves...sad.

Mouser starts you off as an order puller with pay much lower than their competition.
It's difficult to go up the chain system if you aren't personally close with your management teams or anyone with a position higher than you or else you have to deal with the headache of your work being quietly sabotaged so you stay at a very low position and rack up disciplinary actions.

Leadership teams (supervisors, managers, HR and higher up the chain) are all very quick to bully you and make your job feel horrible if you can't meet/exceed production goals for any reason even if you have a disability. Many of us employees have been told already that if you have a permanent disability then you're just a liability and have to be let go.

You're constantly being watched by leadership teams. You're not allowed to have 10 minutes or more of "inactivity" unless you show and explain that is production related. If you rack up an hour of inactivity per day for any reason, disciplinary action is quickly taken.
The PTO system is odd compared to other jobs for the fact that you can't use it for emergencies without scheduling 24hrs in advance. You have roughly 2 weeks of PTO so make it count.
You can't take off work without PTO no matter what the reason is, (unless you qualify for FMLA after 1 year) and you have to call every day you're not at work an hour before your shift starts or earlier (except weekends) to explain why you're not there even when a return date has been discussed many times.

You'll be told that your family is important and you need to take care of your home life when you're hired, but after a month then they'll tell you to forsake your loved ones for the production of the company.

The only good things here are the benefits and your fellow co-workers who are almost always extremely friendly and quick to help in any way they can.

They let good hardworking, quality driven individuals go for not meeting productivity goals. Too many people always worried about losing their jobs. They say they want their workers to provide quality service to the customers, but if the workers are not fast enough or efficient enough, their quality and lack of errors is overlooked entirely. It's an incredibly unhealthy culture, and there's a decent turnover rate. Everyone I spoke to was overloaded, overworked, overstressed, and underappreciated by management. Micromanaging is an issue on the sales floor. The break rooms/privacy rooms are listened in on and private phone conversations reported to HR which I found out early on. HR makes it very clear that they don't have to accommodate your disability if they feel it's bad for business. We have to dress nicely because we're "customer facing," but no customers or vendors ever really show up at all to visit- also, we're at a desk, so we're not actually facing customers at all.   The dress code is reminiscent of a high school or middle school dress code- almost identical, actually. Overall, the customer service center is a really weird, stressful, confusing environment that contradicts itself a lot in policy as well as culture. 

Pros:
-Air conditioned building
-Various areas/specializations of the warehouse to work at if you want to become more valuable.
-Management likes to give away treats during certain seasons as a "thank you".
-Certain jobs let you work by yourself. 
-Can work at your own pace (within reason).
-Annual pay increases due to performance.
-If the company does well, we sometimes get a boost on our next paycheck depending on how long you've worked there.
-Job security (due to expansion).
-They consistently recognize hard workers.
-"Open door" policy in regards to what improvements can be made.
-Most supervisors are great and will fight for you.
-All break rooms have a small convenience store in them.

Cons:
-Poor HR response (depends on situation).
-Low starting pay.
-You have to work HARD to get a decent pay increase every year. Otherwise it will be very small.
-Managers like to think they're "in touch" but their actions speak otherwise sometimes.
-Forced overtime on Mondays, EMG (Everything Must Go), or days after a holiday.
-Most (except for the major) holidays are required half days. So you have to work outside of your scheduled shift hours. But you do get time and a half.
-Injuries that occur that aren't "workplace related" will NOT be covered by Mouser, even if it happened on the property and management leads you to think otherwise. (Talking from experience).
-When the work is light, you are still required to meet your numbers...which is flawed reasoning.
-If a customer reports that their order is short, you, as the order puller, have very little assurance against that claim. So you lose getting and extra $60 at the end of the month.

I made significant contributions to their Customer Accounts team only to be disrespected and treated unfairly by leadership. 

There is little to no appreciation for good, hard work besides your picture on a slideshow in a team meeting and a round of low energy applause. 

The Customer accounts department will bring in new hires, not promote from within, and lay off some of their best employees. 

They will chew you up and spit you out. 

The "work ethic" at Mouser is not up to standard with what is ethical. 

Some things i encountered and had to work through: Immature gossip, false narratives about my person, favoritism, and unprofessional behavior from leadership. 

Behavior from leaders went as far as a coordinator laying hands on me. In the end, it left me with mental and emotional stress to the point where some days I would have to put my head down for a few minutes.

HR cannot be trusted or relied on. 

Do not work here, they do not manage their finances well, and will come up with all the excuses in the world to not pay their employees fair wages.

They can't give employee raises, but they can absolutely have giveaways... and give things like PS5's, TV's, Electric Bikes, Cruises, $2000 bonuses that coincidentally go to those in management or higher, or they'll get you a pizza party, or babes chicken, but they cant give you a raise.

Don't work here if you're an authentic individual and if you have any kind of actual leadership skills - you will be treated badly. 



I loved working here. It’s the easiest job I’ve had so far (maybe because I was working in the ESD area), your supervisors and managers are understanding and they don’t scream at you to pull a certain number of orders like some other companies do. They just give you a goal and you try your best to reach it (they give you a quality report every week). You can come to them for any help. Pay is fair I guess, I wouldn’t know because I hadn’t worked in a warehouse before this one. Only negative is that for some of their policies especially regarding COVID, they don’t really listen to their employees and their suggestions via WorkJam (they may address your concerns most of the time but sometimes they’ll delete your comment but they just do their own thing without trying to implement what we request). They have a Which Wich on site and a convenience store in the breakrooms that are pricier than your average 7 Eleven but I digress. Another negative is that it does get boring and repetitive after a while and you barely talk to anyone but it beats working customer service by a mile, if that’s your thing.

The only thing I enjoyed about this job was the friends that I made. Mouser doesn't pay nearly enough to compensate for the amount of high-level stress that goes in with meeting the absurd amount of goals and ridiculous standards that's expected of everyone in all departments. They can fire you on the spot if you don't meet their hourly goals or are inactive (aka you've run out of work or have to go all the way across the warehouse to find a bathroom). Everything is based on numbers, so your attitude, skill, experience, does not matter so long as you generate a good report card. Supervisors walk all over you and expect you to break your back for wages you could be making flipping burgers instead. Mouser does not care about its employees and will jump at the opportunity to demote you to janitor work until you quit. It's similar to working at Amazon except Amazon pays better.

The biggest concern with working at this job is their HR department and the lack of an employee handbook leading to frequently changing their policies without notifying their employees which led to multiple people being fired within a month and me being ineligible for rehire. Workers in the warehouse heavily rely on their coordinators to receive any information on instruction if anything goes wrong. Other than that the job is a very fun and fast paced environment. The employees are usually really friendly and the ones that aren't are usually gone within the week they start. Within the warehouse, you have a set schedule, except holidays, which includes a 10-hour Monday, 8-hour Tuesday through Friday with the option for a Saturday shift from 6am-12pm. Which leads to a scheduled 43 hours per week with time and a half overtime pay, with the option of working up to 12 hours per day with unlimited overtime.
