I had a relatively good time for the majority of my employment here. the program has grown a lot, and the pay has been kept the same.  It is entry level, but those with experience get a higher starting pay.  In short, expect to apply, work, watch newer people make more money than you, then watch them leave for better jobs. It is easy to do the bare minimum here and get paid for it, better still to find a quality job with your newfound work experience. The pay is OK, the benefits also OK (subject to change), and the conditions are pretty nice. Most people coming from retail or food industry will appreciate the change of pacing.

The nature of work varies from day to day. Shifts are compressed schedule shifts; 3 and 4 day weeks of 12 hour shifts each. Some days are slow, other days busy from start to finish. Most people with enough tenure forget about the busy part. The work can be a combination of masked work, confined spaces work, or at-heights work. You will come into contact with chemicals that WILL cause health issues down the road if you are not careful, but the safeguards kept in place should keep you safe. 

The job environment historically has been a struggle as management seems to have issues with maintaining order (or consistency) within their programs. This particular program began with 0 formal training, and 0 written notes to be trained on. Everything new employees are taught on was created by a handful of techs, leads, and peer trainers. Only a small number of that handful remains, and they have to contend with a growing number of incompetent coworkers. Bullying/Hazing is relatively commonplace here, and more than a few former coworkers have walked from the job because of it. These are issues yet to be dealt in the 4 years I've been around- and as they are endemic to the workplace- unlikely to be addressed.

Complaints about quality and safety sometimes fall on deaf ears, and other times are overblown to the point that investigations are opened up and people punished for them.  It is hard to determine if or when an event is going to blow up.  New rules will be put in place to address safety caused by problem employees. Other issues will put coworkers on a stretcher and you will never hear a second mention of it. This is unlikely to change, no matter how much of management is replaced.

Overall, I want to like this place, but my departure leaves me wishing I left years ago. I did not keep to my own personal goals and wanted to help, despite knowing better. That goal was to treat this place as a stepping stone, and if you stick to that, you as an individual will do just fine.

So yeah, a revolving door job.

They will car salesman overqualified individuals into entry level roles while claiming it is a great doorway into the industry. They claim to not be a temp agency and swear to assist with finding new employment should a contract be ended due to staffing but do not hold up on that. The environment you are in will be entirely different than those you’re managed by and since the customer pays msr and msr pays you, they care little about the work environment they place you in or the culture it’s built upon. Companies treat you as a body and nothing more as you are expendable with out warning. Expectations are demanded while opportunity for advancement is dangled in front of you as MSR has a contract with whoever you are hired with preventing you from being brought on by your co pant full time unless a fee is provided. Often the fee is too much for any business in this industry to pay especially now and they go a step further by requiring your position with msr be backfilled before you can even get offered the job. Preventing your growth. Because the customer pays them and they then skim the top for their cut before paying you. It matters not what sort of unprofessional behavior is going on in your work place. A complete and total waste of time with anyone possessing real world experience and truly looking for growth. Don’t get car salesman into this hyped up temp agency. 

I was a lead here for a year and worked a total of 2 years altogether. For getting your foot in the door this is a good place to start being a tech. But I would not recommend staying here for long especially if you want to move on up. When promotions are posted they do make it known that they want to hire within the company which is great. The only thing is that they'll have the 5-10 interviews knowing who they are going to pick based off if management is friends with them. I know this because I was promoted to lead before the job was even posted and didn't even have an interview because I was already picked. I had a bit of struggles being a lead as management was not consistent on how each and every individual was disciplined when it came to not following the companies guidelines and attendance policy. Another struggle that resulted from this was that there was a high turnover rate. No matter how much they raised wages, it would be rare to see many people last more than a couple months there. The worst part of the nepotism was that on breaks management would all talk trash about fellow coworkers. I will mention positives as well, you get 3 15 minute breaks and a 30 min lunch. In summary, great place to start, but not somewhere you want to stay for long.

I feel I have a lot more cons about this job than pros. Since day 1 I've been annoyed with many things here. (Hillsboro campus) Training was non existent. I had asked plenty of times to be placed on jobs or paired with a peer trainer, rarely happened. Fortunately now, they seem to have managed that aspect better. I was told we could get raises within 90 days after getting certified, didn't happen. It was because of their lack of training going on. The number of certifications I was told we could acquire has changed so we are only allowed 2-3 which really changes the rate of pay I was told we could earn. My biggest gripe is management. I dont mean the Leads or the Day/Night team lead but higher than them. The OSS Program manager. I'm not allowed to say the name here but when you get hired, you'll know who it is. He ignores any emails you send out. Will call you after hours and literally belittle you. H R was contacted. Heard nothing from them. The Pros of this job so far, my teammates. They make it enjoyable. There can be lots of downtime (some people like that) This job can be a good stepping stone into the manufacturing field. 

It's been a few years since I was with MSR-FSR. At the time the job always aspired to be more than it ever would be. There was basically no chance for advancement and little chance for raises. Those who excel couldn't really get recognized with compensation or advancement and those who under performed never really got reprimanded.
During my time there, middle management was great but entirely strangled by upper management. So raises or reprimands never got far as it all had to go up to the owners/upper management and they really didn't care as long as warm bodies were fulfilling their contract to the client.
If you're curious about the semiconductor industry it's not a bad place to start, but keep your expectations in check.

Let me first start of by saying they always make promises that were said with training but were not met. Management makes you feel like you are on an island, meaning you can ask the manager or supervisor there and they will take two weeks to respond and then when you ask again they play it as they don't know what you are talking about.  I was promised to be hired on at 22 an hour starting and after 90 days get a raise but unfortunately they did not stick with the promise and layed me off and said that it was due to "reconstructing" the team. I would suggest staying away from this job as much as possible because you will not be set up for success at any point. The hardest part of this job was dealing with management and not getting answers to the most critical issues. 

Not micromanaged too much. Training leaves much to be desired. I feel the required tasks asked of me does not reflect on the compensation I am receiving, and there is little outlook for advancement. I think an additional $3-$5 an hour would be perfect for my position, especially if travel opportunities are no longer available. 

Co-workers are generally good people. Management seems to have our backs, and seem to listen to our concerns. 



It's not a horrible job, but not great. I started a few months ago and I really like most of my coworkers. The trainers try their best but the training is lacking heavily.  And management makes advancement hard and slow. Miscommunication, laziness, unsafe conditions and the ever growing list of new jobs that at one point wasn't your problem, becomes your problem and your problem forever. I do not recommend this job. The amount of work that is piled on to you incomparison to the base starting wage is not worth it. At most you might earn a measly 22 to 23 an hour after you grind for months for those illusive certifications.

This will always be an entry level spot - but what a way to experience it. Make your mark and there will always be room at the next level.

I worked as a clean room tech, but my knees started deteriorating (I found out I had osteoarthritis in both my knees since birth and after all these years I could no longer provide minimum support for my position, so I stepped down.

What I remember most is that attention to detail is not the beginning, as it is in many lines of work. In this line of work it is the very minimum of what can be accepted. Congrats to all in the program!

Eight hours days on average. I learned to be as flexible as possible. Management took moths to replace equipment, update training programs, or meet basic safety concerns. 

There where a large number of HARD WORKING AND CARING PEOPLE THERE. However there was also a large number of individuals that seemed to phone in the work day. Trying to keep numbers up with broken and out dated equipment was the hardest part.
