I've worked for the company for almost 2 years, I have worked for the company in both states. I also was able to climb the ranks at a steady speed with little stress. My hardest point in my job is having to overcome the amount of objections and disapproval's from customers for selling solar in buffalo, but I have grown from doing such and learned how to conquer my fears while handling such difficulties. My typical day consists of speaking with people of all cultures and helps me to better understand and appreciate the amount of diversity there is here in buffalo. Between my coworkers and my management I'm constantly learning and laughing there are so many different types of personalities here and we all fit together like a puzzle, we really are like a giant family here and if you ever need anything there is always someone there for you and willing to help whether its with work or with personal life we are always there for each-other. Management is always there if you are having difficulties and they are very understanding they don't treat you like you are replaceable they treat you as an actual person and are there to help you prosper in life and are doing what they can to truly make you the best you. The most enjoyable part of my job is the freedom I have while i'm here theres not someone breathing down my neck and if i want to be myself and decorate my area i can and i'm allowed to build relationships with my coworkers that constantly keep me laughing or at ease. Over all I love working here the environment here is amazing and i wouldn't want it to ever change

Started entry level as a canvasser and the standards for performance they expected changed every week. We'd have to fight for our pay every week because it was either A) Not paid promptly or B) paid incorrect and if you asked questions theyd come up with a lie. The reason I know this is because I was a team lead and they wanted us to lie to our teams about their pay. Which I couldnt do. Eventually worked my way into sales after I quit and they didnt have anyone to fill my position. Promised better pay, a sales position and bonus incentives if I came back. Took the job and the promised bonuses immediately got pulled and the better I got at making sales the less money I started to see. Same patterns happened, had to argue every week to just get paid correctly. Eventually started getting paid less and less even with taking on more responsibilities. All in all, the incentives and bonuses they promise are almost unachievable even if you are top salesman 3 months in a row. The managers are expected to meet a standard and if its not met then the people who work the hardest get hurt the most. If you have sales experience go to some place more stable that will appreciate your work.

I had an incredibly negative experience at this company. From the start, it was clear there was no respect for work-life balance, and the constant stress was overwhelming. The office atmosphere was toxic, filled with horrible energy, and rife with bullying that made it difficult to stay motivated or feel valued.

Management dangled the promise of career advancement, but those promises were never fulfilled. Despite working hard and being dedicated, it felt like a never-ending cycle of empty promises. The leadership showed little to no regard for employee well-being, allowing a hostile work environment to thrive. This culture led to high levels of anxiety, stress, and ultimately, wrongful terminations.

The company’s treatment of its employees, lack of training and professionalism made this one of the worst workplaces I’ve encountered. I cannot recommend working here unless significant changes are made to address these serious issues.


People I spoke to warned me about the things I was saying about this job.  All saying it sounded sketchy and too good to be true and it was. The training was horrific. Had little to no clue on what I was doing as did another person I started with. When I asked questions I was given extremely generic answers that didn't help the situation. If you like to harrass people as well this is the place. There was one client I saw had attempted to have been contacted 5 times that day and I was told to contact them still. I was also told to call people on a do not call list. At one point told to lie to customers if I have to to get in their door.  You're told the job is one thing at the interview and the actuality is something else entirely. Inconsiderate people in managment. I had a very negative experience probably the worst job Ive ever had the misfortune to stumble upon. I honestly blame it to being such a new company and having no training in place and the managers not caring about anything but their own well being. This job may be for some definitely not for me.

Poor Management and Lack of Leadership

One of the most significant issues I encountered My Smart House  LLc was the lack of effective management. Leadership IS disorganized and inconsistent. Managers often seemed disengaged from day-to-day operations and failed to provide clear direction or support. Many of my colleagues, myself included, felt that management was out of touch with the challenges on the ground. This lack of leadership led to confusion, inefficiency, and frustration within the team.

Regularly, I found myself needing guidance on tasks or projects, only to be met with vague responses or, at times, no response at all. The failure to provide mentorship and guidance, especially for new hires, resulted in a high level of turnover. When issues were raised during meetings, it often felt like they were ignored or dismissed, rather than being addressed in a meaningful way.

Flexibility to work at your leisure. No college degree required

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not being paid on time. Management will only make sure the Company looks good. No overtime is paid. No documentation is kept. Multiple labor code violations.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Discrimination and only care about those who have been with the company since 2014. Anyone recent will not be valued.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 9am and leave by 5pm. I normally kept to myself because the minute I tried to be inclusive the VP would start to talk behind my back. They are intimidated with someone who is well versed in their profession

These people are so hostile when it comes to results. They will scream/yell at you for lack of results even though you do your very best, but bad days don't exist there. It's either results or fired. they made people cry for the way they treat them scream at people on phones in office. As well constantly using unprofessional language to talk to their employees. They constantly tell you "anyone here can lose their job no one is safe." which puts you in the bad mindset already before you go out trying to knock doors feeling desperate to get results or else your job is gone to the next applicant. I honestly can tell you to never ever work here so many other solar companies you can work for that also have better options they only sell purchasing. Find a company that does purchasing, leases, and ppa.

Regardless of the position, a typical day is a lot of Customer or potential customer contact. It can be very upbeat and some days very difficult. 

Theres a lot to learn here, anything from selling someone to taking care of a customer. Theres never not something to learn.

The work place culture is very competitive and very fast paced. You really need to be able to keep up and adapt to the constant changes


The hardest part of the job can be dealing with customers/potential customers while trying to maintain a certain number of calls per day.


The best part of the job, getting to do new things, go places, and some of the people. I stayed for a while simply for some of the people working there.


Over all, the company is great, you just need to keep up with its pace, if you can, then its a fun place to work with a lot of opportunity.

Starting with the application process, terrible, Was told one thing then slipped into a different pay structure.  Th are one of the highest cost Solar companies in the area and no tolerable at best.  If management has a disagreement with you, then you will be fired.  If you take initiative, you will be fired.  If you jump and ask how high while in the air and can handle peoples insecurities and trust issues, then go for it, but remember, everyone is related in some way shape or form there.  Get in early, work really later, then go home to start all over is truly not the best way to earn what they barely pay compared to what they are charging customers.

From forging signatures on documents to involving elderly in high pressure sales knowing they did not qualify for the government program that made solar affordable, to managers screaming obscenities in the office, to employees fighting in the parking lot... every day there was a circus.
This company had potential to be a legitimate business, but instead focused on getting as many sales as possible regardless of legal and moral objections. 

Once we learned what was really going on- the choice to leave was clear.  Its one thing to show up to a terrible job in order to make a living... its another to ruin the lives of other people just to make a buck. 

Absolutely DO NOT recommend.
