Overall, I do enjoy my job and I’m proud to be part of the management team. There are opportunities for growth, and I was able to move up within the company, which I truly appreciate. I work alongside some supportive staff and managers who genuinely care about the work we do.

However, there are areas that need serious improvement. Unprofessional behavior from certain staff members can negatively affect morale and the overall culture. Favoritism is also noticeable at times, which creates inconsistency in expectations and accountability.

The job itself is physically demanding, and getting hurt or physically strained multiple times a week is unfortunately common. For the level of physical and mental demands placed on staff and management, the compensation does not reflect the workload.

Pay is the main issue. The company would benefit greatly from increasing wages to match the physical risk, responsibilities, and expectations of the role. Higher pay would not only improve morale but also help retain strong, committed employees.

Overall, I like what I do and value the leadership experience I’ve gained, but better compensation and stronger professionalism would significantly improve the workplace.

My experience at The Needs Center was challenging and, at times, disappointing. While the work itself, supporting individuals and advocating for their needs was meaningful, the overall support from the organization was lacking.
Communication from upper management was often inconsistent, and staff were frequently left to manage high expectations without adequate support or resources. This contributed to a high-stress environment and made it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
While the role helped me grow stronger in my leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills, I would have appreciated a more supportive and proactive organizational approach to both staff and resident well-being.


What is the best part of working at the company?
I can't say how great this organization is. Such a wonderful mission, helping developmentally disabled individuals live as independently as possible. But from a career development perspective, it goes above and beyond. I started as an entry-level direct care professional and am now an assistant manager. I also have tuition reimbursement opportunities as well as a chance to get a bonus when I get my DSC certificate (paid for by the company). The recruiting team has been a really big help in all of that. And the staff at my program are the best. But ultimately we are here for the people we help, and that makes the job very rewarding.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When I first started I sometimes felt that we could use more training, but the company has done a very good job of providing more training to new hires, as well as staff like myself.

The Individual, I enjoy helping them since allot of them doesn’t have family that come to see them often.

When you are being Targeted and being written up for crazy things 😜

The work Environment is fine and it’s mixed culture.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Starting off with signing in the individual, then starting with there task, activities, lunch, activities end of the day cleaning and getting ready for them to go home.

The individuals that are served and the direct care staff. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Constant criticism from the corporate staff in Massachusetts. Lack of support. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone walks on eggshells, staff is treated badly and the corporate staff look down on the Florida staff. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Great unless you need help or have to engage with someone from the Massachusetts offices.

The job overall isn't too bad, but the short staffing puts a strain on everyone. Staff members are frustrated with the lack of support and managers are always scrambling. They would probably keep staff if they paid more the 20/hr while we risk physical injury daily. Also, if you're not comfortable with toileting, don't bother applying. They don't tell you in the application or training that several clients need to be cleaned regularly. They only said clients may need assistance to the bathroom. One plus is that they seem to be reasonably flexible on scheduling as long as you're not telling them last minute.

The staff makes it stressful, not the actual clients that live there. The clients make it worth the while

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in, greet your clients. Deal with staff, go home

I have worked for the needs center for about 7 weeks. The orleans program has gone through alot of adjustment due to covid 19.  The people who work here are very dedicated to the people who live here .  Staff are always helpful and respectful to each other
 Like all companies there are ups and downs but because of the willingness for staff to work together you feel as part of the team. The management go above and beyond everyday and have not asked anyone to do something we havent seen them do.  



My experience working at the NEEDS Center was very challenging. The work environment was difficult due to micromanagers who consistently overstepped boundaries, making it hard to perform job duties effectively. Additionally, there was a concerning lack of respect and care shown towards the clients. The management's approach often felt demeaning and unsupportive, which negatively impacted both staff morale and client well-being.

This has honestly been a fun job for me since most days involve hanging out at the house to watch movies, chat with the individuals we care for, and help them with food and hygiene. However, bad days are incredibly stressful, especially if it's during the 16 hour shift. It is common to get attacked, hit, bit, and kicked by certain individuals and it's seen as just part of the job, and the pay does not feel like it is enough to cover the amount of work you have to do while caring for the clients.
