While working at Nurses ETC Staffing, I was assigned a contract position at a local military branch clinic. I was hired to teach mental health groups for patients specifically active-duty patients, but unfortunately, I was utilized to fill medical billets and worked at the front desk area and mostly checked in patients. I was not doing the job I was hired to do and I "made do" with the job I was given. Prior to this job, I was "on the floor" working with patients and constantly moving around. With this job, I sat at the front desk and walked around the clinic when needed. I learned to love my job through time and adjustment. Turns out I was pretty good at utilizing the EHR (Cerner) and working with the provider's and their schedules. Working for the military is hard, but rewarding when patients came seeking help and felt welcomed coming into the clinic. 

The hardest part of the job was contractors/GS workers thinking they're chain of command/highly important (think: mean, belittling, and grumpy old lady) because they were served in the military for X amount of years and inconsistencies of day-to-day job flow. 

After owner stepped down and turned it into a corporation things change quickly.  The atmosphere change as did the feel of the company. 

heavy phones; all interviewing,  checking our soft ware (API Health) each morning for new applicants; credentialing; checking educational 
verification;; and back ground checks, and references; doing all H.R. paperwork; sending tax  information to home office as needed;  keeping all confidential information on all nurses under lock and key;doing payroll and submitting it as well as accompanying time sheets; sent emails, posted jobs on various sites; combing through applications on the boards; setting appointments for interviews; calling all of our clients every morning; lunch time; and afternoon; filling shifts and entering data into our data base; keeping all nurses data up to date with all assignments posted in their files;  cold calling businesses to see if we could help  fill their needs, try to set appointments up for meetings for my boss " Business Development" when he brought back a contract I would then call and establish  people of contact to call on regularly was on call 24/ 7 for 16 mos,  got a large vendor management contract, and went through their training, and learned their on boarding process which added extra steps to our company's  credentialing process. We established new protocols for our company as well.

"The prisoners are running the prison" is what comes to mind when I think of my time with this company. Little employee support, they will not go to bat for you if you need them to. They will lie to you, to get you where they need you. You are just a body- a person with a license to fill a spot that will make them money. When working on the unit, they allow the contractors to make their own schedule separate from the permanent staff. There's no cohesiveness between employees. There's no method to working weekends, and often if you are low on seniority you will work every weekend and every holiday. If you don't like it, or speak up about it, you'll be deemed a trouble maker. It's good money, but you are treated poorly, like a piece of merchandise instead of a person. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

The opportunity to work different accounts in different cities.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Going into facilities from a staffing agency: the employees of the facility many times got attitudes.  We are there to help because their own staff won’t come to work. We are there to lighten their load.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The staff of Nurses Etc. We’re always kind to me and would place me at facilities that I asked to go to. They were nicer to work with than any long term facility I hired directly into.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I could pick how many days I wanted to work and the shifts I wanted to work. They were always happy to try to accommodate me in that way.

Small/Medium sized company that is working on growth. CEO is VERY friendly and approachable, makes every employee feel welcomed. 

Minority-owned business, so there is lots of diversity throughout the organization. Some growth opportunities are available, internal employees get promoted - which is great! 

Employee recognition program is 5-Star, get off for your Birthday and for Volunteering within the community. 

Looking forward to added years with this organization. Pros outweigh the cons.

Only one good thing about working here. You are not penalized for needing to leave early for emergency. No benefits. Don’t plan on having a baby because FMLA is only eight weeks not 12 even if you have surgery. Only contractors will get pay advancements not corporate and as you don’t get pay, increases, your insurance goes up leaving you to not have insurance or 401(k).  You will never get more pay or opportunities to grow even when you ask. Will use your PTO with out asking you

The San Antonio, TX location was good. At first, the scheduler was good. But then she became unhelpful, unreliable, and just plain confused. I actually worked at the military hospital through this agency for five years.There was a dispute with my license on their end (yes, it was a valid license) and they yanked my ID tags until it was resolved. When it was not resolved to their satisfaction, they told me I was terminated. After the license thing, the scheduler was fired. They tried to re-instate me but I refused because I deemed them unreliable. I know this should have been written when I was terminated but I failed to do so.

More interaction with employees.  Good work pace with knowledgeable co workers. Excellent pay and benefits along with 10 holidays a year. Competent staffing and lab leadership it’s great working with the military and since I’m a veteran of Desert Storm it’s a great familiar fit for me and my family. They really support me and my family especially when my father passed away. No weekends and evenings and night shifts is a definitely a plus along with no holidays is awesome. 

they really work hard to find the right jobs for you.  they also provide focused tests to see where you match best based on your training and experience.  the recruiters are hands on and work to enhance your professional image.  if there is a problem in the field, they are an advocate for you and do not throw you 'under the bus' like so many nursing facilities readily do.  these are really nice folks.

Company states they will help you when newly starting in your roll but then stop answering their phones when they are needed. The payroll has to be entered by the employee and it is not easy to navigate. There is slow to No communication between the agency and the company causing misunderstandings frequently and difficulties for the employee.
