Admin bloat and micromanagement are major problems. Staff is overworked and gets essentially no support from admin.  Teachers will be thrown under the bus to spare admin half an hour of paperwork.  Building admin are generally failed teachers.  District admin have no idea what goes on in the classroom and frankly don’t care.  Admin at all levels are constantly pushing new initiatives to build their resumes with no regard to the damage done to student education, which is often significant.  Pay is very good. Benefits are meh. The culture is toxic.  The union is useless except as a redistribution ATM for favored politicians.  

District is top performing because of the staff and students. Building admin varies widely. Some are great, others micromanage everything (especially in the elementary level). The district admin is very unsupportive of staff and makes unrealistic demands without their input. During Covid the admin has been particularly awful--forcing staff to be in buildings without students just to keep parking lots full for public perception. The superintendent has the school board wrapped around his finger. The morale in the schools is extremely low now and staff feels unsafe and unheard.  

I really enjoyed my teaching job in the district despite the substandard pay. The students were great to work with.  I was let go from the district when class sizes were increased.  I consistently was ranked as excellent in my annual review. The administration  did nothing to retain me as a teacher in the district even though there were several openings. I’m only sorry about devoting 5 years to a district that didn’t deserve my expertise and commitment.

Management , administration is extremely liberal and doesn’t want to make waves within there group. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As non teacher worker you get treated like a child by managers. Don’t expect any emails to get answered.

Just go get that days pay. Avoid administration

I found my peers to be extremely supportive and a wonderful group of people to work with.  The job changed in the last several years and became much more stressful and there was less of an opportunity to connect with the students and other staff.

There were many personalities to deal with, good and bad, and that kept the work interesting.  The politics of education were difficult to be agreeable with.

Terrible leadership at the top, especially in special education. Increasing number of kids are out of control and aggressive, but the district believes in full inclusion no matter how it affects the other children or whether that placement is the right fit for the student. They give little to no support to teachers who struggle tremendously with student behaviors. Parents don’t realize how much their children are actually exposed to in this district. So glad to have left that mess!

Pay is above average. The people I work with are passionate, smart, and incredibly supportive...between them and the kids, they are the main reason I stay. The lack of work-life balance however is emotionally draining, and leads to burnout. On average, I work over 60 hours per week, and still don't ever feel like I'm done or meeting expectations. Teaching here has become extremely micromanaged to the point that every classroom decision is analyzed and reviewed, which is exhausting. 

while working in the supporting staff (cleaning) staff they do not like ne team members they will get together and make up different lies to keep you out so you will not make the union unless you become part of their group .I was lied on had damage to my car supervisor harass me treated me like I was a child ,very stressful environment the principal and Sports director or evil people that seeks help don't work here unless you are ready for a legal battle .

A typical day is never the same and it provides mobility. This position is providing many chances to learn about managing children behaviors, disabilities, and academics. The hardest part of the job is the pay and that there isn't much growth opportunities unless received further education (licensed teacher or certified staff). I like the job, the interaction with the students and enjoy helping students on their academic journey.

I love working for Naperville 203! I work for one of the high schools, and I enjoy both my work and my coworkers. There’s never a dull moment. These schools offer so many programs for their students, their always some type of spirit event, always a helping hand from coworkers and the students for the most part are all exceptional and want to learn.
