I worked here for three years, beginning at entry level and working up into mid-level management. 

First of all, the wages are unlivable and the potential for a raise for anyone is maxed out at mere cents on the dollar per year. You get one review by your manager a year and that one time is your only opportunity to get a raise. During my time with the company the maximum raise you could get was 45 cents one time per year (unless you were promoted to a position of higher responsibility). As a department manager, the key people at any store, I was being paid around $15.00/hour for running the  consistently highest grossing department at one of the two highest grossing stores in the company. There is little to no opportunity to actually make a livable wage unless you work there for 10+ years or get promoted beyond store level (more on that below).

The only chance you have of actually making a livable wage is being promoted beyond store level. However this company is rife with nepotism and often the only people afforded these opportunities are the in-laws, old friends, and family members of the Isely's.

The way employees are treated is abysmal and the turnover is out of control. In my three years with the company we had four different store managers and over six different assistant store managers. Only one of these store managers was worth anything. Most quit. Some got fired. And we had several HR nightmares. HR are a pit of backstabbing vipers and bullies who serve to only protect the company and the Isely family. I can't tell you how many times we had absolutely vitriolic and gestapo-like HR people lurking around our store to get dirt on people they were aiming to fire. We were once made to sign a fabricated "no gossip" policy because among the department managers we actually had each other's backs and knew when these HR phantoms were slinking around. It was absolutely disgusting practice.  The disconnect between the home office and the stores is beyond comprehension and the relationship can only be described as antagonistic. Many people who work at the home office have never worked at store level or haven't done so in decades and therefor have no idea what is going on or just how counter-productive they are being. As a department manager I spent at least 30% of my week putting out fires and cleaning up mistakes all thrown upon us by these outdated and wildly ignorant home office staff. Example: sending me a pallet of a product I can't give away and expecting me to sell it before it expires. The ignorance and flagrant disregard for the store level employees is staggering, especially for a company that loves to tote itself as being a wonderful place to work. The company politics are uglier than capitol hill and unless you're good at lying, backstabbing, sabotaging, and bribing you will go nowhere with NGVC. 

The department managers were overworked, constantly pulled away from the work that actually mattered to help cashier, and, at our store, given trainees from other stores to train for weeks on end so that the company could continue it's reckless opening of new stores. Sidebar: we were never compensated for training these folks from other stores even though it required hours and hours of extra work and attention and time and energy on top of all the things we were already being asked to do. Not a dime! And when I asked we were smugly told that being a "training store" is a "privilege." In my short three years the turnover of the department managers was near constant and the quality of people we lost was tragic. We were the top store in the company for years, always the top grossing store or number two. Up 15-20% month to month in most all departments. Routinely winning sales contests (and, for the record, we never once got a payout or a bonus for doing so even though such things were dangled in front of our faces every time). Making millions for the company. And the people at store level who were working hard to make that happen were treated like garbage and then discarded as such. 

The ordering and inventory software is so far out of date that my 60 year old father laughed when he found out we were still using software he used to market back in the early 1990s. The software takes years to learn well (even for millennials like myself) and the inventory systems are a nightmare to maintain. Department managers spend more time fighting with outdated software and navigating the labyrinth of an archaic software platform than probably anything else. It's absolutely laughable! 

The expectations put upon the department managers to cater to individual customers was insane. I spent hours each week hunting down products for customers without even knowing if I could get the products. We were doing around 80-100 special orders a week. A case of this. A case of that. A personal phone call to every customer and then a followup call if they failed to pick it up. I maintained a binder of all of our recurring orders so that the customer, without asking, simply got their case of product the same day every week or two weeks or three weeks. Next level customer service! This is on top of showing up at 5:30 am four days a week to get my freight orders in, training staff, and doing most of the stocking myself (about 4 pallets a day) and most of the time I only had one support staff to help stock (if that). Then being interrupted multiple times an hour to help cashier. Then attending meetings. Doing required online trainings. Answering roughly 30-40 emails a day. Answering a similar number of phone calls. Staying on top of getting those new products into the store. Meeting with reps and brokers who randomly show up. Then you've worked your full day already you have to drive back into work once or twice a month in the evening for required "classes" and "trainings" which, while good material, had no bearing on my ability to do my job (bearing in mind I had to be back at 5:30 am). And then, every other month or so, I got sent a new hire from another store so that I could teach them about everything I do (without getting paid for this extra work, see above). And God-forbid you go over 40 hours because NGVC refuses to pay overtime. It's the kind of job where you're always behind and things just keep piling up. 

That said somehow the people I worked with, especially the other dept managers, were gems of people and I loved working with most of them. I suppose when you're in the trenches together you learn to stick together! I remain friends with many of these wonderful people even though none of us have worked for NGVC for years.

In conclusion, unless you plan on working for years to get promoted beyond store level (good luck unless you marry an Isely or are a grade AAA brown-nosing pushover) or working for years as support staff to eventually accrue a livable wage (to the tune of 45 cents a year, see above), do not bother with NGVC. Whatever you do don't stay in any type of management at store level because you'll be used, abused, and discarded. Just about any grocer will probably treat you better and pay you better. Zero work-life balance. Benefits so mediocre most people opted out. And more stressful than any other job I've ever had! Not a bad place to shop, but an absolutely life-draining place to work! I wish I could get three years of my life back.

I enjoyed wearing casual clothes and occasionally getting free vendor shirts to supplement my wardrobe. I got the most mileage out of the discount on food and supplements, which saved me a ton of money. While it's great to work around all the health food and vitamins, it's also hard to believe it's a health food store when you look at the mostly unhealthy staff. Some people--mostly people that work in vitamins--are healthy and helpful resources for customers, most of the employees don't practice what the store preaches on health and wellness. It's just a job for most staff and they typically know little if ANYTHING about the products--which makes it hard for them to help customers effectively. On occasion, we had potlucks and birthday cakes and holiday treats for each other and I had many, many good laughs with good co-workers as we worked our shifts.  

One of the most difficult challenges is that several managers are friends with upper management and are not held accountable for staying busy and productive like the regular staff. This is bad for morale and sets a bad example and you can often find manager buddies standing around in the back room or locked in the office upstairs gabbing for hours every week. Other managers and upper managers can even shirk their responsibilities and never be held accountable either--like ignoring the ringing phone, or ignoring cashier intercom pages for backup--even if it's reported to upper management for a coaching opportunity. It's frustrating and demoralizing and it'll burn you out eventually, because you, as a regular staffer, will be required to stay busy all the time and be happy as a clam, while random other regular staff gets away with standing around and chatting with managers and you get mediocre annual reviews, regardless of your effort.

Yes, the company pays better than minimum wage but that's not saying much. They love to brag about how generous they are, by paying employees STORE CREDIT of $1/hour worked, on top of their wages. This 'extra' money, however, is taxed on your paycheck just like regular pay, yet you can't use this store credit to pay your car payment or utility bill! Being forced to use part of your compensation exclusively at "the company store" is not the same as paying you an extra dollar of income per hour and is frustrating for those of us who want to buy groceries at whatever brand of store we choose. Most importantly--on this note--the company claims that taking care of their employees is a core company value, yet they refuse to allow merit raises and when they occasionally increase the starting pay for new hires by $1/hr, they fail to raise the wages of the rest of the tenured staff by the same amount--effectively negating multiple, hard-earned raises that took them years to earn from this cheap company. Cheap is appropriate in some cases in business, but soon enough, new people are making almost as much as you are, after years and years of hard work and dependability and increasing your value to the bottom line. I would only recommend this job to retirees needing supplemental income, or as a first job for a person right out of high school or college--someone who needs work experience and a paycheck and is less concerned about being paid a livable wage or expecting to equal treatment and accountability amongst all employees, including managers.

Typical days can include working in any or every department, depending on staffing needs. FYI, there's no accountability or consequences for perpetual call-offs, as long as it's not a "no call, no show" so you might have to do two people's jobs on any given day. On the flip side, there is no reward for being extremely reliable, consistent and changing your schedule at the last moment to help management accommodate random call-offs, so don't throw away your plans and offer to cover for other people: it's not worth it. Also, there is no "cleaning crew" at night, so be prepared to clean some toilets on occasion. That was no problem, except that at least half the time, the vacuum is broken and if you are a closer and are assigned to "do the rugs," you will have to 'sweep' the rugs with a broom: this can take up to 45 minutes, so I hope you have a strong back! The company would sometimes go months before providing a new vacuum, so brace yourself.

The Pueblo store has also experienced frequent breakdowns of freezers and coolers, and cash registers, so don't be surprised if you have suddenly drop what you're doing to go help on a back-up register or pull everything out of a cooler and put it into baskets and keep it in the walk-in coolers/freezers until their fixed...whenever the company feels like it. These breakdowns are no secret to customers, and it damages some products and makes for a horrible shift for staff that has to dig out yogurt cups, bacon, or cheese packs from stuffed baskets, which is not only additional work for staff, but it makes for difficult, time-consuming customer shopping experiences.

Sure, I had fun with customers and staff and learned a lot--but I learned a lot because I learned on my own time and it didn't get rewarded with additional pay. Don't work yourself to the bone trying to become a master genius at your job, because you would have to do it on your own time and your own dime and you can't get paid your proper value--the company won't allow it in the pay structure.

Want to stand on your feet all day, 0 stimulation, not allowed to use your phone for so much as a calculator, and screamed at over rules you didn't know existed by management your whole shift? Great! Natural Grocers is the place for you! 

If you're working here to get through college, you get the opportunity to be treated like you "aren't committed to the store" because of your studies by bitter 30-and-overs who barley made it through high school. If your higher-ups or department managers want to leave early, congrats! You get forced to do 4 hours worth of their job AND get yelled at for "not doing" yours! Not great at communicating healthily? Even better! Management is fluent in passive aggression and unnecessary outbursts of anger here at NGVC. 

A typical day here starts off with clocking in and instantly being assigned a task in a department you don't work in because the department manager just doesn't feel like doing anything other than snacking and lingering in the break room or watch like the front end like a hawk from the window in the upstairs management office. Expect to do that for anywhere from 2-5 hours. Want your first break? Don't expect management to give it to you. If you don't ask, they act like the break doesn't exist. Want to smoke a cigarette on your break? Don't worry, you'll be yelled at for it the second you walk back in. Also, unless two higher-ups weren't present when you asked for a break, one will be happy to accuse you of "just walking off whenever you felt like it". Eventually, when you get to do the work you actually signed up for, you get the pleasure of being nitpicked! If you're so bold as to strike up a conversation with a regular who has made multiple comments to management about how the conversations they have here are always nice and make grocery shopping fun, management, who says we're all about satisfying and making repeat customers would really rather you just shut up, after all, you're just a cashier and they "promise you, no one cares what you have to say". Ok, your shift is almost over and it's time to count your till. A different higher-up will come with you and tell you a different way to do it every time and that every previous way you've been told to do it by all the other higher-ups is wrong. Finally, you're free to go home feeling tired, degraded and unappreciated, and get ready to do that all over again for 40+ hours a week. 

But in all seriousness, the $11 an hour and extra $1 in store credit you make for every hour you work is not worth any of what I went through in my time at NGVC. It is a monotonous, slow-paced, and emotionally tiring place to work, ridden with hidden arbitrary "rules" management enforces depending on whether or not they like you. Management does not communicate with each other well, let alone with their other employees. The front of "not being super corporate" is gone your second day on the job, and management will pounce on you for any write-up they can muster. Company morale is nonexistent and everyone talks about everyone behind their backs and tries to make weird alliances with each other. 

Worst of all- I was called up to the manager's office and yelled at and degraded for being "socially awkward" with a costumer... who didn't even make a complaint. The assistant manager just partially overheard. I have a condition, one that is covered under the ADA of 1990 that this is a key feature of, and management knew that. Never, in all my life, have I walked out of a job, but that incident sent me over the edge, and I left for my last ten minute break of the day and never returned. 
The whole store is very dysfunctional and toxic environment that no amount of discounted vegan snacks can ever make up for.

Disclaimer: I had a bad taste in my mouth before even starting at Natural Grocers, because upon hiring, the training schedule conflicted with a Hawaii vacation that I had already booked, but the company said that the training schedule wouldn't allow it (even though I offered to complete the training online from Hawaii since most of the training was to be done from home on my computer anyway) and I would have to either cancel my trip or forget about the job offer. I never forgot or forgave that. 

Working at Natural Grocers at first-glance seems great and they do a lot to "butter you up". There's a lot of emphasis on the company culture and mission, which is truly all wonderful. I love their care for the environment and love for providing free nutrition education to the public. However, the role of Nutritional Health Coach doesn't just involve nutrition education. Especially now during the pandemic, the role of NHC involves mostly stocking shelves, date checking products, cleaning (including the disgusting public bathrooms), and dealing with some terribly rude customers. Your schedule is also at the whim of your manager. So, if you don't have a good relationship with your manager, or they are very strict and go "by the book", good luck. You will always have to work 1 weekend day and close at least 1 shift per week, so say goodbye to a 9-5 or even 10-6. Your schedule is created depending on the "needs of the store", so if your manager wants you to work a certain schedule, you will have to work that schedule, regardless if a different schedule works better for you and what YOU need to do to meet your goals as an NHC. The company puts a lot of pressure on NHC to meet many goals, but doesn't give the NHC the freedom to create a schedule that centers around meeting those goals. There is also a lot of micromanaging within the NHC role. The success of the NHC also depends on the crew. If your crew don't give two sh**s about what you do, they won't be willing to encourage customers to come to classes or market your coaching sessions while checking customers out at the registers, or while stocking shelves. In my store, it was like pulling teeth getting the crew to help me out with inviting customers to classes or letting them know I provide free coaching sessions. Having signage posted all over the store is not enough, it takes word of mouth. Which brings me to another point: I had to spend time making all of my own signage from scratch. I believe right as I was leaving the company FINALLY started rolling out pre-made, nice looking signage. But seriously, after 55+ years of being in business, you would think they would have done it sooner. They seem to be slow-growing in a lot of areas, in fact. For instance - unrelated to the NHC position - why do they change the produce SKUs on a daily basis? Every other major grocery store, including New Seasons, has the same SKUs. This way, the cashier can memorize numbers and the checkout process takes SO much less time. I can't tell you how many times a customer complained to me about how slow the checkout process is. Honestly, one of the reasons is the forever-changing produce SKUs. Another reason is the lack of urgency every Natural Grocers employee seems to feel. Anyway, overall, it's a grocery store. You are a nutritionist in a grocery store with mostly grocery store duties. If you have the option, work elsewhere. If Natural Grocers is basically the only option other than going into business for yourself, as it was for me, find a new career, or go into business for yourself.

I love the idea behind this company and the fact that it has so much potential, but is utterly heart breaking to see how the owners and upper management are executing their poorly thought out business plan. Management is inconsistent and if you are a dedicated employee you will get treated like absolute dirt. The more effort you put in, the more you are expected to be a door mat. This is due to the majority of staff being slackers and not giving a care about their job and it all comes down on the hardest working people. Management is an absolute joke and the worst part is that it comes from the top down. The training provided to managers is more along the lines of how to become a dictator as opposed to being a true leader. The majority of upper management are hired in their twenties and lack the work and life experience to understand how to truly lead. The pros of Natural Grocers are awesome and include $1 per every hour worked in vitamin bucks, which can be spent in store on the high quality products, health insurance and 401k plan. Every employee has great intentions, but squandered when they go unrecognized and abused. Employee input is disregarded and in fact, if you have an opinion or suggestion you are essentially exiled and put down, and you will be written up because the owners are so deep in denial about how the daily operations of their own company and are driving their company into the grave. They recently raised the starting pay to $11.00/hour, but failed to raise the pay for the people that have put years of dedication and hard work into the company. To put it into perspective, I have been with the company for a total of 5 years and I make $1.00 more than the new hires. I go for days without eating and have to have 2 jobs just to get by. Pay your employees enough to live a good life. We are struggling! Listen and take our suggestions to heart. We are on the front lines every single day. Take our feedback to heart. Your employees are your greatest asset, invest in us and your return will be astounding if you do so. You have many excellent employees who only want to see the Natural Grocers thrive, myself included. It's incredibly disheartening to be treated so horribly. We are literally screaming out for your support. It's a great start to raise the starting wage, but what about your employees who have dedicated years to your company? Those are the people you need to pay attention to. Moreover, be upfront and honest in interviews about the demands of the job. What I was told in my interview was not in alignment with the actuality in the slightest. Here's a couple more suggestions you should take seriously: 

- Hire people to be JUST cashiers. This will enable your managers and other Good4U crew to get their job completed. If you pull people in hundreds of directions, nothing will get done, resulting in product sitting in the backroom for days, equating to lost sales. 

-Reimburse your employees for education. I'm sure you're aware this is to your benefit as well as you can claim a substantial amount on your taxes! 

-Get out of denial and get real with yourselves and your expectations. Everyone will be better off.

I have worked in grocery/retail for the last eighteen years, I started right after I graduated from high school. I eventually learned to run nearly every different department in my store, and in 2005 trained as a 2nd ASM (Assistant Store Manager). I wasn't chosen for the position at the time, but I did become my stores first PIC (Person in Charge)  a manager without the title or salary. I was passed up twice more in my time there, both times to people without my knowledge or experience. 

   Fast forward to today and I have been with Natural Grocers for nearly three months. When I signed on I was told that there is plenty of  opportunities within this company to promote and move into management, especially with my experience. A few weeks in and my assistant manager told me the Dairy manager position would soon be open and that he would let me know when I could apply for it. A few more weeks pass and my store manager then tells me she just posted the grocery/dairy/bulk foods assistant manager position. She tells me to apply for it and to let her know as soon as I do. So here I was thinking I might have an actual shot at being promoted this time, boy was I wrong. Several weeks go by with no word about my interview or anything related to either position. Then on a certain Tuesday I asked my manager about my interview, she tells me we will do it that Sunday. On Friday (my manager was off that day conveniently), my assistant manager calls me to the office. Long story short he tells me that my interview will not be happening, because both he and the store manager thought that I wasn't ready for the responsibility, that I had things to "improve". One thing in particular was that I didn't finish my work in produce fast enough to help the other departments out. Even though, conveniently they are too busy to help me out. My manager would later add that while my work was "good", it wasn't "great". I wasn't exemplary, or didn't think like a manager should. When I'm caught up in the produce department, I should be looking for something else to do elsewhere. Or try to finish my work early to be able to help everyone else out. She also said that because of my "apparent" shortcomings that she could not honestly recommend me for promotion.

  So here I am playing second fiddle again, the thing that irritates me the most is the scheming behind the scenes. If they didn't want me to apply, why tell me in the first place. Or if there are things they think I need to work on, let me know beforehand. But don't tell me to apply if you have no intention of even interviewing me for the position. I spent the better part of two decades working for a company that screwed me every chance they got. Now I have a feeling it's starting all over again. So I cannot honestly recommend working for this company.

A typical work day was checking out grocery orders, providing customer service, stocking freight and whatever else needed done.

However, this job was one of the worse ones I've ever worked. I have never seen such an uncaring, uncompassionate management team (aka regional and corporate). They say they want us to be successful, but the way they treat us and the training provided, it was to set us up for failure since day one.

First off, if you are hoping for hours, forget it. Corporate has significantly cut hours at some stores. I don't know how they can expect us to live off that.

Second, turnover is so high, it's ridiculous. Stores are losing employees left and right, and they're not being allowed to hire for more help. Customer service is getting worse due to staffing shortages.

Third, corporate says they care about their employees, but that's the furthest from the truth. If they did, they wouldn't treat us the way they are. They have favoritism that runs rampant through the organization. If they don't like an employee, they'll find anything they can to get rid of them. Yet, other employees who may do the same thing has absolutely zero consequences.

Fourth, they expected so much out of us and management. It's quite sad really, as stores are so short, they have management on registers all the time. How are they supposed to get their work done if they are always cashiering? 

The pay is a joke. For those of us who have an extensive background in retail, we start out at the same wage as a high schooler or someone off the street. Raises are a joke and they go straight to taxes. I never did understand how they could pay someone the same wage as someone with zero retail experience. 

They lagged in technology and it made our jobs difficult, especially when the registers froze. Their lack of willingness to update it has not been a positive experience for us or customers.

I could go on and on about the negatives working for this company. Unless you are absolutely desperate for a job, do not work for them. The stress you'll experience with their lack of caring (despite them saying otherwise) is not worth it.

Please take heed to the one and two star reviews. There's a reason they are rated the way they are.

As you can see, the hardest part of the job was dealing with management (corporate) and their decisions, some which I find highly questionable. 

It may be a family ran business, but I know the parents would not be happy with how employees are being treated and their actions if they were alive today. 

Please don't be like me and regret working for them. You deserve better. I just wish I knew what I do now. I would have never applied to work for them. 

I worked at the west Colfax location "the very 1st vitamin cottage" as the dairy frozen manager.  There is no such thing as a typical day at this location.  You will have to deal with no shelf space to put incoming products. The home office buyers will buy just as much product for this small store as they would for a new store.  There are unrealistic expectations from store mgmt.  Since I started we have lost two support staff members.  We were told by mgmt that the store no longer made enough money to replace the support staff.   This store easily makes over 100% profit everyday for the company. During a regular shift you cashier, order for your dept, handle customer service, count down cash drawers, process shrink, date check, face and clean.  They will tell you you have an assistant but keep in mind your assistant is also the grocery assistant and the bulk buyer for the store.  When you bring these issues up to HR you will be asked to find creative ways to make the store operate with less employees.  It was also recommended to me by an HR representative that I take advantage of the free visits to a psychiatrist if I feel to overwhelmed by my work load.  No thank you I just need our support staff back so I can focus on my job as the dairy frozen manager.  

I learned that this company would rather have its shelfs look full with product that people don't buy.  I learned to keep ordering product just to have them expire.  I was not able to bring my previous buying experience to the table due to irresponsible purchasing at the home office.

My store manager and assistant store manager could never get on the same page to teach me.  I was never shown a working model of how my dept was supposed to operate.  Since we are always loosing support staff they were trying to find ways for me to do more with less.

My co-workers were what kept me at this job.  You will never find a more dedicated and caring staff.  

The hardest part of this job was watching store mgmt treat hard working people poorly.  Next I would say the small space of this store and the failing electronic equipment.  Computers,symbol inventory scanners, lighting, chairs ect ect this older stores infrastructure is falling apart.  It made my job very hard to complete and do accurately.  If you bring the issues up to store mgmt you are told to "deal with it".  Its hard to see over staffed new stores with no customers in them built less than 3 miles away.

The most enjoyable part of my job was my co-workers.

Great company to work for if you can handle the stresses of retail. Work days would vary from stocking and being a backup cashier to being primary cashier. Generally there is only one person at the register, so there are many occasions where a second cashier needs to be called up. 

While there are tons of opportunities and materials to learn from within the store, there has been - in my experience - minimal effort to educate employees on supplements inventory, which is a major focus of the company. The exception is when a Nutritional Health Coach is available. I only was useful in that department because of my own interest and research on my free time.

I really did enjoy working with others at these stores. The culture seems to attract people who care about something real and who want to get engaged with a more conscious approach to work and the environment. My favorite part of the job was stocking. When there are enough crew members, this task is quite fun and you get to see all the cool products the store carries. It's nice to just arrive and go to work without direction, but that isn't always the case.

The management has been really understanding and caring in each store. They have almost all been good people. It was a delight to see them grow in their roles and an even greater one to watch the stores evolve within their community. Perhaps the most rewarding part of the job is to see customers come in for the first time and feel at home, excited to return. To help educate them on making better health decisions with their diet, lifestyle and teaching them about supplements.

The hardest part was having to juggle multiple things at once while assisting customers. For example at the register: The phone is ringing, someone is asking me a question, I'm trying to find the PLU codes for these apples, and I'm supposed to upsell some hot item or event, oh but the apples are priced wrong, etc. Some people can handle that, some people cannot.

I believe in this company and its growth, but I feel it has a lot of room for improvement. Mostly in regards to how it is managed. I would highly recommend this job to anyone who enjoys or can tolerate retail experience. 4/5 stars

I poured my heart and soul out to this company and was insistently blamed for issues found in my department that were not my fault by a nit picky perfectionist manager suffering from "reportomania" 
I worked for Natural Grocers for over 4 years and consistently found mistakes that my managers were making but I was instead blamed for them. 
A lot of management has no faith in employees or assistants working with them. You may feel micromanaged and like no matter how hard you try it is never good enough. 
You can have exemplary knowledge and customer service and have a list of projects you need to accomplish at the end of the day on top of cashiering and Covid cleaning or watching the entry way for hours to make sure no customers enter without a mask. Yet they question why you didn't get assignments done at the end of the day or why you didn't speak to a customer after you had already spoken to them and helped them. Also, you are not allowed overtime to complete projects you did your best to complete while you were helping customers, cashiering, or cleaning, or door watching. Even if you rush through projects to complete them in time they will then question why you missed one single tag. Everything you say or do can and will be used against you, it is like you are policed, even if you are doing a fine job always doing something and do not talk to employees or stand around. There are cut throat managers and there is no room for mistakes. Not a single one, or they will write you up for it. 

What I liked about working here on the other hand were most of the customers, sometimes you would learn something about health and wellness or they were very kind. I was grateful for the employee discount, and the free samples from vendors, and nutrition education. I loved being surrounded by all the supplements and knowledgeable crew, if you trusted they didn't talk about you behind their back.

They say that when they're promoting the nutrient to know about it's not about sales when clearly it is as it's a competition. Customers are not that transparent, sometimes they already know about vitamin D and have it at home. 

Most of this here is me venting, but it came to a point where I couldn't sleep at night because I was so stressed over what I would say wrong that they would write me up for and ultimately had to leave.
