Favoritism shown in billing dept., as only the manager & their "sister" aka team lead don't have to follow all the rules.. If you know more than manager then it is decided they don't like you. Manager acts friendly to employees, then talks bad about them behind their back. Manager very unprofessional as they take several personal phones call on speaker phone everyday & discusses confidential stuff about employees & potential employees with other employees. Manager will tell you & others that you are doing a great job, but then claim your productivity isn't where it needs to be. They need a better training program & allow a new employee access to everything they need to do their job correctly from the get go. They prefer quantity over quality. Which means as long as you do your job incorrectly & hit numbers then you keep your job. There's no consequences for people who continually make the same mistakes over & over, even though its documented, just the one who takes the time to do it right. The manager doesn't back the employees with their boss, who's never done the job before & thinks that you just fix things immediately with a couple clicks, which is not how billing & A/R work. Most of what was said in the interview turned out not to be true. 

I worked at Neighborhood health for years, management sucks  you can complain and email HR and they will never get back to you, many people leave Neighborhood health. The pay rate is $17 and you have to beg for a raise. Your hours are not from 8-4:30pm you will get hired and told those are your hours until you get assigned to a provider and your hours will change. You are not seen and heard and you’re not appreciated as a Medical Assistant, the supervisor does not address your concerns when a provider is mean and rude to their medical assistants. Bad behavior is always rewarded unlike to those staff members who are dependable and get their work done everyday. It’s a toxic work environment starting from the providers and the  nurse supervisors. It’s not a great place to start working at if you just graduated MA school they do not train you for 3 months they train you for 2 weeks and expect you to know everything. 

Neighborhood health is by far one of the worst healthcare companies there is to work for. The management starting with CFO and beyond are absolutely terrible.  So many people have left the company within a years timeframe. In particular, one department the manager, 2 trainees in the department and another employee discontinued their employment with Neighborhood Health of work conditions, poor management and poor leadership. The benefits are okay but do not expect a raise. It has been two years and no one in my department has receive a raise not even a cost of living increase. Basically you are stuck at your pay rate unless a position is open however currently that has not been the case. The company is completely disorganize from customer service to the customer at the clinics. The turnover rate at the company is outrageous. I would not recommend a job here. 

A typical day in the Billing dept was very unorganized, unstructured and stressful. I learned what it was like to work for a manager that lacks management skills and people skills. The training was awful because they did not train you how to do your job efficiently. The Billing manager was the worst manager I ever worked for in my life and the CFO would take up for her. Low morale was the culture because we were treated like slaves and never appreciated. The hardest part of the job was coming to work in the office. The most enjoyable part was some of the co-workers I met while I was there.

The Patient population is the best part of this position. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Consistent staff call outs (at least 3 a week) and zero support from management.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Depending on the location of the clinic, it can be good. The higher the number of staff at the clinic, the more likely there is to be a clique. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rooming patients and assisting with in office procedures as well as vaccinations. Lots of vaccinations!

The people that I worked with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Leaving the job that I enjoyed for 9 and a half years and also leaving the people that I enjoyed working with.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I found that the cooperation between people and other departments was always  good.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would usually check my inbox to see if anything had to be done right away and also check my internal email. I paid the bills so I had to make sure that to prioritize the invoices that needed to be paid first and not be delinquent.

Management lacks effective leadership, communication, and support. They do not listen to employee concerns and appear to prioritize meeting performance metrics above all else, even when doing so raises ethical concerns. I have never worked for an organization where employees felt so unsupported or undervalued. Instead of encouraging collaboration and problem-solving, concerns are often dismissed, creating a stressful and discouraging work environment. The lack of accountability and respect from leadership ultimately contributed to high turnover and low morale.

New experience in the area of health service, customer assistance and administrative jobs.

Initial training and distance from Woodbridge, where I live currently.

Friendly, based on mutual assistance.

Meet with patients, workers and people from all over the world.  Amazing!

The friends I have made in my clinic that have become family

Upper Management wants us to drown ourselves and there is not a good work life balance

There are lots of cliques and clique behavior.

Messy.  It like a popularity competition; You had better be liked by the right people or you will have difficulty.

I worked by myself for the most part.  Again, days are good if you are in the right clique.
