I applied to be a Quality Assurance intern at Neurocrine, having little to no idea what Quality Assurance is or what the role would really be like. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was my individual role fulfilling and meaningful, but that the work culture and management genuinely supports and cares for their teams. 
There were numerous networking and professional development opportunities, including a company picnic at the San Diego Zoo which was incredible. I got to know all of my superiors, even the boss of my boss of my boss of my boss! Even the CEO is a down to earth and approachable guy; it is also very clear talking to him that he is passionate about treating conditions that otherwise are overlooked.
This company really focuses on hiring for personality fit and it shows - I honestly had no idea that office culture could be so supportive and pleasant. 
I was excited to come to work every single day, not just because my coworkers were wonderful, but because I was given meaningful projects that were intellectually stimulating. I loved my job, plain and simple. I also loved how flexible the schedule was. It was so nice to just come between 7am-9am, work 8 hours, and head home - no real concern about being late because the focus was on supporting productivity rather than a rigid structure. I loved coming in right at 7am and making a cup of tea in the fully stocked kitchen/break room and later enjoying my breaks on the rooftop patio. Suffice to say the facilities are wonderful. 
I honestly cannot speak highly enough of my time at Neurocrine, I recommend this internship to every single person that I can. I would honestly have to think hard to come up with an issue that I had during my time here because this honestly is an amazing place to work full of wonderful people. 

This organization is collapsing under the weight of its own dysfunction. Leadership is engaged in political warfare at the executive level, and the chaos cascades down. Priorities change weekly based on who won the latest power struggle, and we're expected to pivot instantly with no resources. The burnout is total—everyone is exhausted from wasted effort on abandoned initiatives. Communication is weaponized; information is hoarded for power and selectively shared to set people up for failure. The compensation is frozen 'due to uncertainty' while executives receive retention bonuses. Career development is impossible when the future is constantly rewritten. I've survived three 'restructurings' in two years and have no energy left for a fourth.

My current situation involves handling a range of responsibilities that used to be spread across more people. The transition happened gradually, and conversations about how the workload is distributed tend to circle back to general statements about everyone pitching in. There are moments when the expectations feel like they're calibrated for a different set of circumstances than what's actually in place. Checking in about how things are going sometimes results in suggestions that feel more personal than practical.

My tenure here was prior and up to the company downsizing. The culture was great professionally which made it a great place to work. Unfortunately the FDA's decisions forced the downsizing which made the company slow down and strategically make its way back up.

My internship at Neurocrine Biosciences was a great experience. Everyone on the team was welcoming, supportive, and willing to help me learn. I had the chance to work on meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience instead of just observing. I also appreciated how much the company values innovation and improving patients’ lives. Overall, it was a great place to grow professionally, and I learned a lot from my time there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Stress in the industry is usually self-induced, not because of the company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Positive, patient-focused, and results-driven.

No matter how desperate you are for a job -  you’re better off not working for this company.The accounting manager has " I prove you wrong" attitude without having any knowledge of accounting principles. A company should not be on the hunt for the same accounting positions every month, so far 10 talented accountants have left the company within  the period of six months.

back-stabbing women.  the women managers hire their favorites from past jobs and if you are not one of them, good luck.  when they decide they have another friend who wants your job, you are done.  And if you are over 40 when they push you out, document everything.

Startups can suffer from disorganization, drama, and frustration. Experienced people recognize red flags. Skilled people have passed through the organization. 






Great place to work until they started hiring "people they know" the nepotism doesn't work well here. People need to stop making it a corporate company, Neurocrine's culture is not about that. It's more family oriented. New management does not respect company culture and will do what it takes to make it corporate or what their used to.
