I loved working for New Care Concepts, Inc. The management is just awesome! They operate in such an ethical manner, treating their employees, clients, and clients' families with such respect and dignity. Their expectations of their employees are very reasonable and fair. And they definitely offer adequate training for the job that they assign you to. The supervisors listen to the nurse's concerns about the clients' physical condition, never brushing a nurse off because they themselves are too busy, even though they have a lot of responsibilities to attend to. They value the input from the people they are supervising, knowing that they are the ones who are providing the direct hands-on-care, and therefore are very attuned to day to day changes in the client's condition. Wow, I cannot say enough good things about New Care Concepts, they are just an awesome place to work for! However, the most enjoyable part of the job were the clients that I cared for, each and every one of them, from newborns to teens. I especially loved one particular case where I was with the client from the time he was an infant all the way up until he graduated from homecare several years later, no longer needing a nurse. Even though I missed working on that case when it was finished, It was very enjoyable to be a part of his nursing team and I will always remember that. I guess that also might be the hardest part too, because of having to let go and move on, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but nevertheless can sometimes be hard. I learned many valuable things working for New Care as well, including new nursing skills, as they have some skills classes as well. And my co-workers were all so amazing, what impressed me the most was their dedication to their clients! Overall, I would definitely recommend New Care Concepts, Inc. as an awesome place to work!

A typical day at work can vary dependent on the client needs.  There are always medications and treatments.  The most important aspect is maintaining a patent airway and safety.  There are many disease processes that can cause a need for artificial life support therefore the need for different client specific interventions.  My shifts are 8 to 10 hours, 32 to 40 hour weeks.  I have worked nights and days.  Depending on the client, I report off to an oncoming nurse or a family member since I work in the clients home.  I work with 1 or 2 clients at a time.  I have a client I go to school with on the bus.  In this case the client is very stable and may or may not have their trach coming out in the not so far future.  Vital signs are taken along with oxygen sats.            CPAP settings are reviewed, Bolus water and feeding are given.  Respiratory is assessed automatically when I lay eyes on my clients and then formally done throughout the day along with suctioning of mouth, nose and trach when needed.  Diapers are changed, skin assessment completed, dressings on stomas are changed.  Any phone calls re orders, followup etc. are made throughout the day along with documentation.  There is always room for improvement re management and they are aware of this.  They can be very supportive.  My co workers are for the most part good people.  The hardest part of my job is hearing about a client I previously worked with passing away.  The most enjoyable part of my job is just being privileged to provide care on many levels to loving and courageous individuals.  I am rewarded daily and humbled.  Through them I get a daily reality check on what is really important.

I was offered a pediatric residency at New Care straight out of nursing school. While they do offer a short orientation, clinical is available 24/7 to answer questions. Working with 1 to 3 patients also allows you to get to know their history and interventions well. I stay at New Care because I feel well supported by my clinical and educational team! And I adore my kiddos I work with! Any time I have been unhappy at a case or with my schedule, they have worked with me to fix it and transfer me or change my hours/days. They truly value their nurses, it is clear with the compensation that is competitive with local Seattle hospitals(and you do without the intense bedside stress having only one patient at a time). Also, all my friends who are new graduate nurses have no idea what their schedule will be from month to month, whereas my schedule at New Care is consistent, so I can plan for life months in advance. 

I currently work for New Care and have never worked for such a caring, supportive group of people. The pay is great, the benefits are great and they offer many opportunities to advance your education. When you go into the office they make you feel like family and always are appreciative of you. You can tell that this is a company that was started by nurses and run by nurses because they understand that patient care can be challenging both physically and emotionally at times. You feel that they really care about you. And, on a regular basis, they show their appreciation whether with a card filled with words of encouragement, occasionally some movie tickets, a gift card for groceries or, when you come in for a meeting, they spoil you with good food and chocolate!

New Care has been providing medically intensive home healthcare nursing services to clients from all walks of life since 1985. NewCare does a great job at supporting new graduates. Ample training including but limited to GT and vent training are provided with additional opportunities for growth with nursing skill sets and continuing education (PEARS, PALS, Trach Safe). Field nurses are given autonomy and prepared at the highest level for emergency situations and problem solving. 24 hour on call services available if needed. 
Great work-life balance which prevents nurse burnout. Families and clients are amazing.  NewCare really takes into consideration what your professional and individual goals/strengths are when placing you with a client. 

The caring and compassion shown by the office employees is amazing!  The training is also exemplary.  I was very impressed with the attention payed to making sure you were fully prepared to go into a home with a complex care child.  Great company to work for!  I would recommend them without hesitation.

I really like working in home care. Being a kids private nurse for months vs days is really rewarding. Most families are very appreciative of all the hard work you do to keep there little one safe, healthy and out of the hospital. I also like wearing my everyday clothes to work instead of a uniform. I wish ANY home care agency paid a decent wage. For this reason alone I will not stay long.

I have been at New Care for almost three years. It is definitely a company made for nurses. I love how cohesive the organization is and the willingness of the management and office staff to hear nurses needs and meet them as best they can. 

The job is also rewarding. You get to work with clients one on one and provide excellent care.

A great company to start out at if you are interested in pediatrics.  One-on-one with high-acuity pediatric patients, you will likely get a lot of experience with trachs, vents, feeding tubes, etc.  They are super supportive and always on-call for questions & mentoring.  Cons -  heavy on the office staff and expectations of having telephone meetings fairly frequently and unpaid.
