I switched over jobs looking for something more rewarding, somewhere I felt appreciated, somewhere there was communication, a sense of purpose, somewhere I belonged. Here at NCI I found it. From the very start when I had my interview, it was amazing conversation with HR and my program manager. The communication was incredible. I then started my training right off, meeting the team I would be working with directly in the home, and everyone was so welcoming, and right away we all got onto the same page, communication continued and continues to be the best. I then traveled to Westbrook for a team leader training where I met the executive team, which I was blown a way, just a small office with cubicles where CEO sits with everyone. I shook hands with everyone. Everyone greeted me and everyone was so personable and open. It was literally the most amazing experience knowing the executive team by name and face. Seeing this office space and not a big cooperate office. 
Coming into work is not a chore for me. Coming into work knowing I am appreciated feels amazing. Having a team be a team. Having a company show so much support and appreciation to their employees, incredible, I have never seen it before. And knowing if I have any questions or need anything at all, that I can reach out to anyone, my program manager, other team leaders, or anyone else, because every single person I have reached out since I have been here has answered my questions and has been more then helpful and more then willing to support me! It has truly been such an amazing and smooth transition. Thank you NCI.   

This company is a great place to work for. They take great care of their employees and clients. They go above and beyond to accommodate everyone's needs the best they can.  I have learned so much since working with this company. They train you really well in all the things that you need to know to be able to do your job and succeed. I cannot say enough good things about the management here. They are absolutely wonderful. They are understanding and cooperative when it comes to personal call outs and things of that nature. My immediate team leader is phenomenal. She will come in on her days off and help us if we need it. She will check on us and make sure we have everything we need before she leaves for the day. Shes just great. I don't really think there is any part of my job here that is the hardest. But I will say that the most enjoyable part of my job is being able to assist my clients with their everyday needs and helping them stay as independent as possible. And also seeing the smiling faces of my coworkers and clients when I walk through the door. I feel like my coworkers are all family, not just coworkers. We all work so well together, no issues, no drama, no nothing. 

It has been quite the journey now for 2 years in the healthcare field. I have been honored to work through and under mentorship of New communities. I honor every single individual and their work and heart. from the HR team to Medical instructors, Supervisors, and all my fellow technician peers for all that we do to be as successful as we are as a collective. To offer the best of care is to remain full integrity to one self, to be a student in order to be a teacher and guide others. Only after one has learned humility in learning that ultimately we are all longing to belong, to love and be loved. Our Residents can be our guide to learning how to become the Leader you desire to become and it all starts with just being a kind human being, planting one seed at a time, day in and day out. Im honored to be part of the bigger picture through New Communities and their mental health division. 

There's not a lot you can do "wrong" at this job as long as no one ends up hurt. The work you do is entirely based upon the needs of the residents which can vary drastically. You do not want this job if you can't take notes. Management doesn't care too much about you, but my team lead was super nice. If you work there expect to have to pay for your training. They warn you at hire, but unless you work 6 months from your final class, you're expected to reimburse. ($600) So if you're not expecting to work here for a long period of time, don't bother. You probably won't want to work there for 6 months either.

The company has quick paced work and a great place to get your foot in the door for healthcare, housekeeping, foodservice. You may have to cross train in certain areas but the satisfication for helping elderly residents is great! 
The pay is a little to low especially for those who been there for a long time. The pay should keep up with the competitive nature of many healthcare business's in the area.
The company is short staffed but again, the company needs to be more competitive and modernized to keep up with changing attitude towards healthcare.
Overall, it is fun, quickpaced, good people, and a lot of hardworking people.

I was hired to become a CRMA, but they put me on as a PSS first. No problem, but after four months I was told my CRMA training would not happen. Also was hired for 2nd shift and was switched to days. Even if they kept me on 2nd shift, I would not have wanted to stay because they cut the PSS staff on that shift in half. After recently spending thousands of dollars on unnecessary new furniture in order to make the facility “look better,” they literally cut patient care in half. That money should have been spent on new items for residents such as linens, better food, and proper staffing. I really loved the residents and several of my coworkers were wonderful. I’m sorry that the working conditions changed so drastically. 

Working here is great when it’s you and the patients interacting on a daily basis. I really enjoyed my job here. I spent more than half my life in this field. I’ve seen a lot and learned a lot. It’s a bit sad that I left this field entirely due to the way Biddeford Estates was being run by the administration there. I prefer to work side by side as a team and find we did not have any teamwork. I would find myself working 2nd floor alone for long hours caring for 20 plus patients.  The patients are challenging and I miss it at times. 

It is a very welcoming environment and a team oriented approach is expected here. Staff gets good, free and timely training. The environment makes everyone, both  staff and residents feel safe and like they belong. 
Employees are all kept informed in person as well as e-mail of any changes the company will be making, always giving a heads up. No surprises! Our birthdays are always remembered with $100 bonus, always a holiday bonus and lots COVID-19 bonuses.


I have been an employee at New Communities for 12 years. I started as a DSP and realized this is not just a job. This is a place that doesn't feel like work when you come in to work. Daily making a difference in other peoples lives and over time seeing growth that you had a hand in. It's simply one of the best parts of the job. New Communities takes care of their employees and really strives to be supportive and encouraging. I have grown in my 12 years here, DSP, DSP2 up to a team leader, there are many possibilities of growth within the company. What we lack in pay we make up for in personable management with employees always in mind. 

Med passes, cleaning tasks, interactions with residents. IT's mostly pretty basic. But don't let the tasks fool you. Behind every basic task comes a whole hoard of issues. From staffing, to management ect, if you're different you're treated different. I can't count the times I have overheard other staff talking bad about me. I cannot count the amount of false allegations about me. I'm over it.
