A typical day of work consist of planning your sessions for the day, completing the sessions and completing documentations. I learned to do case management work because it is part of the BHT job. The BHT will do more case management work than the actual case manager themselves and be held accountable. Management is unprofessional and speaking against, questioning or adding your opinion is not welcome. If you speak up or question management you will be labeled a negative person and it will be held against you. Also if you don't make yourself available to clients to perform duties outside of the job scope you will be targeted and possibly discharged for being negative or not a team player. The workplace culture is negative. There are many clicks. If you don't fit in the management click you will be treated differently. For example not being included or invited in different events taking place at the center for the day while your sitting right there or you may receive a more harsh consequence for the same infraction that a member of the click has also committed. You are expected to go above and beyond for the clients and they will often use and abuse their mentor and the companies resources for personal gains. This is encouraged and permitted by management as it is said to be " your job" despite possible liabilities. One of the mottos of this company is integrity but there is a serious lack of it. While working at this company management lied to my face on many different occasions not knowing I was aware of the truth. Management do not value good workers and will dispose of an employee when they have personal feelings toward them and will be dishonest of the reasons behind their actions. The hardest part of working at this company was having to deal with phony people both co workers, management and clients. Some times not having  the appropriate time, funds or support to complete deadlines and activities. Not being comfortable enough to be yourself because whatever you say is either blown out of proportion or misconstrued. Lastly not being respected and valued as a person  because to them you are just an employee and can be disposed of at will. The most enjoyable part of this job is the freedom of planning out your days events and working at your own pace without direct supervision while in the field and if your lucky you come across a few good co workers along the way.

I took this job, not for the pay but the sense of purpose. I liked the idea of going to work every day and helping individuals less fortunate than myself. The clients themselves are tankful and for the most part very respectful but the culture within the company is something entirely different. (Almost) Everyone is completely fake. They constantly preach, "take the feedback" but do not understand that it goes both ways. The work that you do is generally shotty and half a**ed because they would rather you do it quickly than efficiently. The management is a joke. The "boss" is never around but will walk on the sight after not being around for sometimes a week to two weeks at a time and start barking orders and playing grab a** with his buddy (another lead). Getting anything done is a nightmare because logistically the job is a s**t show as well. Getting the material you need is next to impossible and even though it is not in your job description to make sure the job has all the materials you need you are still held accountable for delays. The biggest problem in the company comes from the word "INTEGRITY"..... It is their favorite word but after more than a year of working with the company, I'm not convinced any of them actually know the meaning let alone practice it. 

P.S. Don't even bother going to HR with any issues you have. No one has your back, they are all too busy watching their own and the mentality stems from the fact that at New Horizons Community Care "everyone is replaceable".

When starting out in the company it was a very good place to be, after about six months began to learn that management had their favorites and it had nothing to do with the employees work ethics or productivity and all to do with who they became friends with. Like any company it is a business and they are in it for the money or else no one would be paid of course, but it started becoming clear that it was not about the well being of the clients and more abut where they can cut corners and only worry about how much income they were getting thru billing of those clients. When wanting to move up the ladder which is "encouraged" but very much frowned upon, when the project coordinator learned that I had inquired about become a manager he called me and in his exact words told me in front of a client that he would make sure I would never become anything in the company. There were many incidents where as an employee I was belittled, discriminated, racially profiled and made feel I would never amount to anything within the company as many others felt the same way, both working employees and previous employees. It is unfortunate that a company that preaches and prides its self on being a Christian company has such poor regard for their employees and how they treat people. If you do except a job here know you wont change the culture of this company, it is rooted in from the top with the owner which is  know for his sexes remarks and degrading woman. Much luck to you in your future endeavors.

I am proud and happy that I have found a company that cares so much for their employees, that encourages their professional development and fosters a culture that is carried over in the work we do.  The culture/vibe of our West Valley location is that of fun, teamwork and inclusion!  We believe the best lessons are taught by modeling!  We want our clients to have fun - so we have fun! We want our clients to learn - so we engage them! 

I have only been in behavioral health for 4 years, but the word on the street is that you'll burn out and wont find a place that cares!  Well this is NOT the case for NHCC - Leadership encourages self care, offers EAP programs and wants to ensure their staff are prepared to be the best they can be; to in-turn offer the best services possible to their clients; staff appreciation is continuous and generous; training and resources are at your disposal.

Great opportunity to give back to the community and be supportive of clients that need support and understanding. It is a very rewarding job and a great company. I have worked for NHYH for the last two years and have had the great opportunity to continue to move up in the company. There is constant feedback and support to assist with employees to improve in this line of work. The owner is very supportive of his employees and often seeks suggestions to get better. 

It is a fast paced job and requires you to be on your toes and be able to be a critical thinker. I have grown in my abilities since being with this company. I like the fact that you have the opportunity to grow within this company and that you have leaders that will look out for you and make sure that your talents get properly utilized in the company. 

The clients are the most important part of this job. To provide assistance and guidance to someone to overcome their obstacles is very rewarding. The daily routine is laid out but, you never get the same day twice. You have to be able to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the clients. It is a mentally taxing job but, the benefit of knowing that you are assisting in the community is very rewarding.

I have worked in many stressful businesses at all levels, working long hours 6+ days a week. Then I came to NHCC.
This has been the most amazing experience. The culture is one of integrity, responsibility, professionalism, and true collaborative team work.
I have a role, and am expected to perform that role to the best of my ability, and if I need help, it is given, gladly. There is always a team willing to help you, no one is "out to get you". I can see that some might have an issue with a true Team Culture, where you have to accept responsibility for your own actions, but I personally love it. The benefits are outstanding, compared to even the largest companies I have worked for. The Managers at all levels are approachable and willing to listen to any concerns or suggestions. The hardest part of the job has been letting go of the me, me, culture of self promotion that previous employers instilled in me in order to climb the ladder at any cost. I have seen others struggle with this and they weed themselves out. I have found a company that is dedicated to being the premier service focused on healing people in a true therapeutic environment. In doing so I have, in my opinion, also found a premier employer, one in which I am planning on staying with until I retire.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Amazing Company worked here for 8yrs. Opportunities for growth both personally and professionally. A company that truly puts the employee first and will invest in you. HR every year is always looking at getting the best rate and best insurance for the employees and their families. Administration team is always very helpful in making sure needs for the overall agency are met. Leadership team is always looking for people who are hungry to be promoted and they care about employees and their families in a personal relationship. CEO is a God fearing man who is always seeking God for the next move. He always puts staff and encourages creativity from staff to keep the company ahead of the industry curve. Lastly this is a company that also believes in raises and other monetary gifts because they believe that staff is part of the NHCC family. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Like any other place of employment there is always going to be stressors. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff and member driven. Member and staff focused for growth. Leadership driven through dynamic and transformational training.

They offer super competitive pay and have a cult-like following. The management team is horrendous. Big black men are used as CPI enforcement or bouncers in most programs, and if you display the ability to do more or speak up for yourself you will be isolated and missed treated. Management egos are super fragile, and if you demonstrate a stronger knowledge on any subject, they work to hold you back. They are heavy on promoting family members and those in their inner circle over work performance. Client's are dollar signs and overall service is subpar. If your looking for true development and opportunities this may not be the place for you. If your self motivated and truly about the idea of making a difference start your own because this place isn't for you. The people here are fake and the message isn't real every staff meeting is full of fake tears and false promises. Lastly they are slowly trying to push religion on the staff and client's if you have aspiration of being management but don't attend Bible study it won't happen...

I have been with New Horizon Community Care for just over a decade. During my time at NHCC from a Behavioral Health Technician and to my current role as a Program Director, the agency has made drastic shifts to improve the world culture. The benefit packages have been altered to create a good work like balance, the teams focus on developing a psychologically safe environment, making consistent changes to be in alignment with ADHS and insurance requirement to ensure ethical practices and providing self-care options and opportunities for all staff. NHCC has been striving to provide the best care while being the premier providers for staff, clients and stakeholders.  The culture continues to be an area of focus to ensure a strong, positive, and team oriented workplace is upheld. 

I enjoyed going to work knowing that I was going to help change a young mans life. it wasn't always easy, but ones you build a good relationship with the clients it makes it less difficult to help them deal with their issues. Every day was different, day I  enjoyed a challenge especially working with at risk youth on a day to day basis it brought out the best in myself and my staff.  I was very fortunate to be part of a very strong management team where our main goal was to improve not only as individuals but as an organization. Every day was a learning experience with training staff on how to be a better leader on a day to day basis. I would lead by example and role model for the young men and woman. 

I would say the hardest part of the job was dealing with staff that got complacent and just their for a pay check I would say that was the hardest thing for me but I was able to find ways to motivate and find everyone's strength and utilize that to our advantage.
