Hands of Grace is an Assisted Living Facility (ALF).  I work hard with support staff, and other outside agencies to ensure proper care of currently 70 residents on a day to day basis.  What I have learned while at Hands of Grace is further documentation skills, importance of following medication management and using good communication skills between support staff and residents.  Some who suffer from mental disorders. The most enjoyable part of my position at Hands of Grace are seeing the residents enjoying themselves and keeping them healthy and laughing.  The hardest part of my position at Hands of Grace is ensuring that all the residents, staff, medication, home health, pharmacy, and other outside agencies are in compliance with our Virginia Standard of Rules and Regulations for an ALF.

New River used to be amazing to work for! They use to value their employees. The current management is making it go down hill quick. Employees are treated horrible. There is no communication. They are short staffed and over worked. Emplyoees and patient care is not a priority to the organization anymore. They ONLY care about money and will look for ANY reason to fire you. Senior leadership is a joke and very unprofessional. They want to blame their poor money management on COVID when the problems have nothing to do with it. Working here is more like working for the circus and the clowns are in charge.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Love all the NRHA team. Generous with bonuses and employee perks 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
New dental program was a real problem getting used to compared to Dentrix

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly work environment. Every is eager to help other co-workers

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Organized and work has an easy flow

Arrive strictly 8am-430pm, no flexibility, lack of remote work option, paid time off is available, but if used within 90 days (no matter the medical reason), they terminate you, leadership is poor, set in ways, narrow minded, no room for growth, if you are educated and experienced you will be let go if you are a threat to anyone’s position in leadership, they are uncomfortable when you question finances.

they are part of the umwa union 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
they do not care about the employees 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
very stressful almost hostile at times . Upper management are very rude 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
clock in you can not click in early or late . work in silence they do not like talking to co workers .

New River is overall a great company to work for: good environment, wonderful coworkers, day shift hours, and good benefits, but the pay is not at all competitive. One major problem is that patient satisfaction is valued at almost any cost, even to the point of abusing providers and nurses. No late patient policy is in place which puts unnecessary stress on employees.

Was required to work in area's other than what I was hired for. Upper management does not respond to requests, emails, etc. Was told change was temporary but after 5 months it was not temporary. 

Great benefit package. 
Upper management doesn’t want to listen to the working crew about things are going. If they do listen, they do nothing to help.
Company hires out of organization for non union positions that could actually have advancement opportunities.

I have enjoyed working at NRHA. The best coworkers ever! Internal communication needs worked on, but that is typical with most larger organizations/companies.  Compensation is okay. Could be better.  Yearly (or at least every two years) raises, without having to ask, would be nice.  Great perks and solid insurance which is hard to beat.

LOVED my time there except upper management. End of the day, you're replaceable. End of story. Not valued as an employee or a person. Just a number. When you make too much, or question authority in any way, youre on the chopping block.
