What is the best part of working at the company?
the kids we cared for really need these services and the families appreciate them.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never knowing if they are going to lay you off because of very poor executive financial management. They had 3 lay-offs then rehires because of poor money management as a company in the 3 years I was there.
They want to say its the staff but its the C-suite poor planning and management of resources.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Always unsure about how they are doing. You can attend a townhall and they are spending money and opening new facilities, and the next week laying people off.
They don't  know what they are doing and place the employees in an unstable, unsure environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Trying to find policies or processes to get your work done is very difficult. One day they say the ratios are 1:4, then your 1:6 with the same sick kids. Often there are more agency staff then company employees.

I worked at the pediatric specialty branch and felt very strongly about our mission. Unfortunately, the management team was a revolving door and they NEVER promoted from within, going through 3 directors of nursing in the 5 months I was there. Upper management ran supervisors and program directors (CHANGES/PWS) into the ground ultimately leading to the untimely demise of the programs and unsafe patient conditions. During orientation you will be told about raises and biannual bonuses, however in my specific branch's case we never received them because an audit revealed a negative operating budget thanks to mismanagement. All staff hours were cut and forced me to leave for financial reasons. I'll never forget the patients and their families and wish Nexus could find a way to overhaul their broken system because I would definitely return.

This place is truly an overwhelming experience. Mentally and physically draining . Constantly short . The children are true psych patients but the staff over medicates them little bit to much in my opinion. I have been here for about 6 months and I have seen so many nurses leave . One nurse even told me that if she knew I was going to apply here , she would had told me to go somewhere else. The environment is toxic and not as welcoming . There are few good co workers that will help but other than that , you are on your own. I needed the job for experience and to see if I will enjoy working in the psych field in a hospital setting and with my background of working with mental health population. It would had been an ideal place . I was wrong . You are better off working at Texas Children’s Hospital or any other pediatric facility.  I will be leaving soon . Think long and hard before wanting yo work here or apply as a prn staff 

The company offers great benefits & that is the only pro that comes with the job/company. Many have poor management skills, the company only focuses on numbers & not need. You're overworked & under paid they do a lot behind closed doors without first seeing the root of the problem & coming up with a long term solution. Instead they will implement a temporary solution for a permanent problem. There is NO job security at all & the turnover rate is ridiculously high. The company is unorganized & the practices are very poor. There is poor employee morale. They will sell you on the job during the interview & try to present the company as the most amazing place to work. However, it is the complete opposite. You have to stay on your toes at all times because you never know who is watching & what they will interpret your actions as. I would not recommend it to anyone as a place of employment.

Watching the patients grow and believe in themselves again.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Behaviors of TBI patients. Not being able to communicate bc of their disease process.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Laid back  but a lot of drama with employees. You have to do your work and not get caught up in drama.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at 6 am sort through the non critical stuff. Med pass then from 9 to 3 patients go to therapy. At this time you meet with drs if it's your day. To discuss patients. 3 to 6 patients are back.in house and med pass dinner and clock.out. and the codes in between for Bea iors elopement or whatever. We are on 26 acres gated. Beautiful but busy all day.

Chaotic, with little structure and frequent short-staffing. Poor communication from management as well as major disconnect from what actually happening.  Concerns from staff were rarely addressed, and favoritism highly influenced the workplace. 

Often tasked with handling multiple crises at once without proper support from management especially when safety is a risk. The company cares more about its public image and source of revenue than the well-being of employees or residents. (Staff injury is common)

The only enjoyable part of the job was working directly with residents and seeing small moments of progress. Otherwise exhausting and not worth the low pay and your well being. Avoid! 

The owners are the problem.  In other reviews people keep saying that ‘management’ is the problem.  Who put the managers in their position?  The owners!  Who keeps promoting the wrong people to the wrong positions?  The owners!  I’ve never seen such bad judgement.  All of the ‘good’ people have left… as usual.  Top performers are not going to stick around with a sinking ship.  And I agree with the previous reviews about the pay.  No raises and the so-called bonuses are a joke.  What does this mean?  It means the owners don’t care about their employees.  It’s hard to feel bad for a company that is failing, when they are doing it to themselves.  I hope they wake up before it's too late.  Keep looking folks.

This used to be a wonderful place to work but upper management has lost touch with what's important. Less focus is placed on employee satisfaction and patient safety/outcomes but rather on the bottom line. The company used to make a strong effort to instill and maintain a positive culture, however the culture has become hostile and corrupt. Many of the strongest managers/directors have left due to the lack of administrative support and revolving door of facility CEOs. Clinical staff is not set up to succeed. EMR is Meditech and was poorly developed and is burdensome for clinical staff to document on.

I have never worked for an organization that does so much to recognize their employees efforts and bring staff together. I joined a committee shortly after starting in my role at Nexus Children’s Hospital that is designated to plan activities, acknowledgement and rewards for staff. The upper management is very present and always approachable and responsive. Everyone works together and does their best to make sure the patients receive the best care possible.
