What is the best part of working at the company?
Worked in field operations at Niagara Falls International Airport. Unfortunately, the current supervisor created a poor, toxic and unhealthy work environment. This made an already demanding job much more difficult and super stressful than it needed to be.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the lack of communication and support from supervisor in field operations. Expectations were often unclear, concerns were not addressed, and this created unnecessary pressure in an already demanding role.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
If they have better management practices and clearer guidance, the workplace could be much more positive and productive. But this will never happen under current supervisor at NFIA.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You start at the bottom and work your way up. Basically you on nights but you might get lucky and a slit shift. Great money and guaranteed to make an easy $70,000 yearly. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The reroute is horrible if you don’t drive around. Before you expect the job learn the bus system because the passengers knows the system. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mind your business and do your job. Great if you don’t mind other people business. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long and short breaks. Passengers can be nice but it depends on how you speak or acknowledge them. Remember they know the community cause they depends on the bus/train.

You're pretty much on your own in this company. No one will tell you anything even though you get 45 days of training in which you just read the policies procedure book which is so dated that they make up stuff as they go along and then a memo comes out. If you need help or immediate assistance with passengers more than likely the police will not show up or take their time coming to assist you. The management seems lost and there's lots of biased. The union and the company seem to go hand in hand. As of late the union has been backing down and bending over for the company and now the employees are now paying more

Pay and benefits. Meeting new people 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If you do your job and follow the rules it should be stress free. Learning all the negotiated,  contractional rules between the company and union might take sometime to learn and understand.....

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Lots of great people to help you grow 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Exciting and fun.  Always learning new things to help you grow.....

Horrible management system.  Sub par pay and the benefits are so watered down it's not worth it anymore. Upper management is all friends and family.  Nepotism at it's finest at the airport. No promotions unless you are in the friends and family program. The management screws  up financially and takes it out on the lower paid workers every time. They will not negotiate, only dictate. Very oppressive work atmosphere 

Management sucks (for the bus drivers). 
The clerks play favoritism and use a pencil to write in your hours worked (time for a federal audit), and all shifts are split..you're at the station for 10-12+ hours but only get paid for 8. No overtime..extra hours but not at time and a half.
If you're single (no kids or life) its a good job, but if you have a family or a life...walk away, its better to do anything else.

The benefit package was misrepresented during the interview process. Failed to mention the wait time for these benefits to be applied as well as the calendar schedule for them . There’s  an ok for some not for others work environment at this company and varies between shops/garages . They have poor ability to make adjustments to there policies. 

Not bad place to work, pay is well behind private sector work, union is weak, people are good but don't trust anyone. 

Alot of nepotism, like retired rail superintendent pulling strings to get son in law supervision job over more qualified candidates for instance. 
Railcar maintenance management ran department into the ground.

Workload is heavy, but expected.

I've gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in my career at the Public Transit agency.

Management could use improvement.

I work with good people in my department.

Making the best possible decision in a situation.

Helping others excel in their performance.

NFTA has been a great job for me. Best health and retirement benefits I've ever had. Much better work life balance than my previous position and great job security. Pay may be a bit lower than you could find in private industry but the value of the benefits more than makes up for it.
