I worked here for nearly 6 years. When I started I was being paid more than my friends who were managers at fast food, when I quit fast food places in the area had increased wages to adjust for inflation but Noridian had not, after 6 years I ended up being paid less than an entry level position in fast food. I voiced this to management and explained that I literally could not afford to continue working at this wage. I offered multiple options to keep me including ones that would have had no additional cost to the company and was denied, instead I was given a .50c raise which was still not enough to bring my wage in line with current fast food wages.
For a metrics driven business model there is no incentive to increase productivity, if you complete 20 calls/pieces or 100 in a day you are payed the same and neither has any real effect on you performance reviews.
There are more upper management than a company requires eating a large portion of the limited budget and resulting in less pay for rank and file employees. There are even more middle managers who care only about metrics and will micromanage anyone who they think could be more productive. In my 6 years I had more supervisors who fell victim to the Peter-Principle than should ever happen and the company changes CEOs like underpants and none really make any effective changes, only double down on the decisions that lead to their predecessor's failures. In all the MAC business model is an unmaintainable one, each bidding year the company is forced to make cuts in order to show CMS that they can do the job cheaper than the competition. which means organic growth is impossible without taking on new contracts for which the company cannibalizes existing resources leaving the core business short staffed. This need to take on new contracts can and has backfired in the past greatly harming the company in the process.

If you want to work for a company that is one-minded and has a SVP. that doesn't deserve their job as has a lack of ability to effectively manage and listen to employees that have better ideas than them; this is your place! They expect you to do your workload that is HEAVY and SMART goals that the SVP has enacted and if you question them, get ready to be retaliated against. Don't voice your opinions (even if they have a meeting for that specific subject) if they're different than upper management's (which are dense and inefficient) or you will get reprimended for it and told not to speak out. You know will have to sign a document saying you're okay to be disciplined if your actions or words don't align with the department directors and upper management. Their fear tactics from upper management funnels down and they love to gaslight you. Their pay here is garbage and their insurance is expensive and lacking. Be prepared to be mandated to work OT. Their "bonus" for the year is a joke, maybe $500 at most. Don't pay extra for the employees that excel at their job and produce more, instead you get more work given to you and the raises are based on SMART goals (40%) which have nothing to do with your job, they're to try and give you opportunity to learn new skills or make the company better because they don't hire people in upper management that actually know what they're doing. You have the possibility to get a 5.5% raise (AT THE VERY MOST, very hard to get) a year. They're headed for trouble here and I wouldn't want to be on their sinking ship. SVP's grossly overpaid at over $500k, and it should be cut by 1/4 and the rest should go to the employees who actually do the work here.

Management will not help you. Supervisors will not help you. You will be asked to perform applications without assistance, using documentation that hasn't been updated in ten years. You will process incorrect information from practitioners who feel so lost and so scared. You will have to figure it out on your own, and asking others for help has flip flopped between seen as good/bad. Emails don't get replied to, but you'll get fired if you point out the double standards. The lowest pay in the industry, the highest amount of work. Contingent workers were hired last year to see if there was a cheaper way to perform the labor, and when that failed all contingent employees were termed. We did not receive raises after this. Trainees routinely get paid more than those training them. Be prepared for 6 months of training, and three years of being told you don't know enough. Get ready to argue for your position every single day. Get ready to receive threats of termination if your goals aren't met each day. Be prepared to leave this company if you apply. 

Salary OK, but yearly raise not keeping up with inflation or with health insurance costs. Considering BC/BS of North Dakota is the parent company, the insurance plans offered should be better, there should not be any high deductible plans, and coverage should be free or low cost for single coverage. If the employees were to unionize, I guarantee the insurance coverage would be better and free or low cost. Also, pay and yearly wage increases would be better if the employees were unionized. They force their employees to do SMART Goals. Not only is this outdated, but the Federal Government should put their foot down & say, “We are paying you to perform our work. We don’t want the employees wasting their time with useless SMART Goals. Do our work exclusively with high quality & quantity, reward the employees yearly with a livable cost of living increase and get rid of the SMART Goals that are a waste of our & their time!” I doubt the Federal Govt wants to pay for SMART Goals!  Also, immediate supervisors very frequently have no experience in the area that they are supervising and their lives instead revolve around SMART Goals that serve no purpose. The supervisors are of no true assistance to their employees.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love my team and supervisor. They make the good days great and the hard days more bearable. I also love being able to approve applications and helping providers.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Hitting production numbers and speaking with upset providers. Most are lovely and easy to speak with, but those few individual interactions can bring down your day. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's great. It's welcoming and inclusive. There is a focus on our mental wellness. It might not be perfect but I appreciate that Noridian does its best to address wellness issues of the employees. So many free programs are offered

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mainly processing applications and verifying group/ individual credentials. Some days I am on the phone all day and others I won't talk to anyone. Just depends. I'm always busy and can be challenging at times but keeps it interesting.

There was never a lack of things to do.  My position required that I be able to perform many functions simultaneously.  I did learn a lot while there, from using knew software applications to applying new training techniques.  The people there were mostly friendly, but there were a lot of clicks as well.  It took awhile to be feel apart of the team. One really nice thing is that they are really family friendly, allowing people to work flexible schedules to fit their lifestyle.  The benefits are excellent but the hourly pay was, in my opinion, rather low for the work that was expected.  The biggest difficulty I had was in relating to my superior with regard to workload.  Most of the upper management had never worked in the position I had and consequently had little understanding of how long it would take to complete some of the projects that we were asked to do.  The workload was at times, overwhelming and there was an immense amount of pressure.

There's nothing wrong with noridian or the way they run the business. It's like any other job . There's normal drama, pay increases only every so often, and of course ,consequences ,if you do something that you should not be doing. They try their hardest to work with your family life and other things you may have going on and as long as you do your job they treat you like a top-notch employee. In the two years that I've been at noridian, I have never seen management treat anyone bad. There may be some miscommunication here and there ,but management tries their hardest to make sure it's a comfortable, enjoyable, working place for everyone. Not sure why people have to try to bash or talk down on businesses once they leave that place of employment. obviously it wasn't that bad, because otherwise you wouldn't have stayed.

The pay rate is low for the skill level needed, the work is stressful, and the company culture is shaped by many dissatisfied employees who are expected to deal with continual job change and additional workloads with little to no training. The company is not so much concerned with employees as they are with meeting metrics and performance numbers. There is high turnover and people who leave or are fired are rarely replaced since lower company costs mean an increased chance for the company to keep or gain a government Medicare contract. Employees remaining are expected to increase their work load and productivity or face being terminated.

My job as a writer/editor on the Business Development team may well be one of the best jobs I've ever had. I would be hard-pressed to leave, even if better wages or benefits were offered. Noridian shows care for their employees as well as tremendous support for personal career development and advancement opportunities. Noridian has paid for certifications related to my role and our field. 
I love the work/life balance as well. I am fully remote work except for necessary travel days. Even so, most of the time I work at home. I am able to set hours to allow for parent drop off/pick up. I was also able to take leave for a necessary surgery and received partial pay under short term disability. I wouldn't leave this place unless the options exceeded everything I have here including an awesome team and boss that I work with every day. 

Leadership in Clinical Services and Analytics is inexperienced and/or unsophisticated. They do not have the interpersonal, educational and professional skills needed for their roles, and they know it. When leaders are overwhelmed, they act from a place of fear and insecurity. That makes it impossible to create a positive culture, where there is trust, the exchange of ideas, and support.

To work there, the best approach is to  lavishly praise them, and every idea that they have (i.e., narcissistic personality disorders are at play here). Never, never, never question or raise a concern or they will lob the microagressions at you and it will turn into quite a hostile environment. If you can do that, it's an okay place to work but you can probably get a better pay and benefits with a healthier culture elsewhere.
