I know this is long but please take time to read this review. Do not work here. This place is horrible! Google the 2 newspaper articles that were written about this place in the Tampa Bay Times. Every word is true. They keep people here longer than they need to so that they can bill their insurance companies and profit off of people's misery. As a nurse, I've literally heard the doctors and staff members admit to this during daily treatment team meetings. The patients are only dollar signs here. After a patient's  72-hour Baker Act expires, and a patient even ASKS the doctor if they can go home because they feel they're ready to, the doctors will place them on a BA 32 (an extension of the Baker Act) so that they have to stay here longer. JUST FOR INQUIRING ABOUT GOING HOME. It is awful how they treat their patients here.

It's bad enough that they don't have enough activities to keep the patients busy. Most of the time, they just sit in the day rooms bored, staring at the walls, and crying because they're stuck here and aren't receiving adequate help.

I wanted to work here because I love helping the mental health population and thought I would be doing that here. I was sadly mistaken. The staffing ratios are so bad that there's no time to help anybody because you're running around like crazy just trying to get even a minimum amount of work done. Recently a therapist got beaten up by a patient. She was in the therapy room, which is locked and nobody had access to get in that room to help her. Under no circumstances should a staff member be alone with a psychiatric patient behind a locked door! They should have a behavioral health technician (BHT) in there as well for safety purposes but they won't pay to have extra staff members. They do not care about their employees. Unit A is considered to be the acute psychotic unit. They will have 2 nurses and sometimes only 2 techs to 25 psychotic patients. It is very unsafe and nobody likes to work on that unit because of it. Staff members get hurt all the time because they don't have enough backup. There is a reason they have such a high turnover rate across all departments of this place. I've been a nurse for quite a while and I've never seen turnover rates like this before. Almost every time I worked here, there's a new employee I've never seen before. There's a reason!

All of the charting is done on paper, including the MARs, which is unheard of in this day and age. It takes twice as long to chart anything. It would save so much time if they used an electronic system but they won't convert to one. The reason? They want to able to shred documents if they need to to cover up their mistakes. 

State visits this place just about every month because this place's reputation is so bad. If you truly care about people and want to help, do not pick this place. You will be very disappointed and disgusted. For the sake of your license and/or sanity, just stay away.

Please don't work here, you will be underappreciated and overworked. They never do anything for their techs expect write them up for doing their jobs or making them do groups that therapist should be doing. They refuse to use agency techs or nurse if they are short staffed because they don't want to take money out of their CEO's pocket yet they are building a new building so where did the money come from I thought they didn't have any money. Some of the people that are in higher positions don't even have bachelor's yet they expect you to have that before you apply pretty much you have to know somebody in the higher ups ex: kissing up to someone for a promotion. You work 12 hours shifts but only be a 30 minute break and there isn't any close food places, you would expect them to offer food for free to employees but no you have to pay for your food. BEWARE if you want holidays off and you put it in months in advance, they will not let you get the holiday off even though you requested it off months in advance because they fired people and don't even replace them and expect you to work. They are too dumb to use agency for the holiday because they are so cheap. Please don't work here there is a reason why the turnover rate is so high, much more places to can work at where you can get paid more.

I took a job here because the pay was better than I had received anywhere else as a nurse. I think they paid me extra for having my BSN (vs just an associates), which no previous job has done for me. Once I started there, I realized why the pay was so good... they can’t seem to keep nurses and are pretty desperate. The majority of the RNs had been there only a few months. The turnover seemed to be huge for nurses. I didn’t feel safe there. We were often short nurses or techs. Many nights we were short on every unit, and few or no male staff in the building... so when we called a code for a dangerous patient, nobody would respond. Even when we were already understaffed, management would open up units that were closed, and take patients from all over Florida. I realized they didn’t care about my safety... it was just about making money. Day shift was even worse... they were always begging me to stay late because they were always short. Often only one nurse on the unit, doing the job of 2 nurses with ratios that are dangerous. A couple times I saw there was a unit without a nurse for a couple hours. I’m not sure how they get away with all of this, and why they haven’t been shutdown. It’s just very unsafe for the direct care staff. I got out of there quick before I got hurt.

MHTs unprofessional are cliquey and try to run the floor,  
Lacks leadership or effective leadership,
Lots of gossip undermining, toxic behavior Nurses MHT, CNAs quit due to patient ratio 25:1 chronically, 
Assessments inaccurate due to pt/nurse ratio,
Time clock inaccurate - inaccurate pay, 
Many many very serious sentinel events without any communication to staff as to how facility will improve,  
Had medical record/IT nurses and other staff working as MHTs due to chronic low numbers of staff,
Chronic issue of ALL depts of staff  quitting this facility going from bad to worse and trending downward.  

Speaking from personal experience, if you're someone who recently graduated from college with a psychology degree and are looking to dip your toes into a career in the field of psychology, this is not the job nor the place for you. While this position has stable hours and plenty of opportunities for overtime, everything else falls flat. It doesn't matter how much experience you have as a tech, whether its 2 years or 2 months, they will throw you to the wolves with little to no support. You will be given unreasonably high expectations that are extremely difficult to meet if you're just starting out. Ironically, the PATIENTS will be more supportive of your plights than the higher ups. Shoutout to the time they had me work alone in a unit with the more intense patients while the two techs that were supposed to be there with me spent almost the entire day outside of the unit. All while I had to tend to around 20 people.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You cannot get in touch with nurse manager, even through email. Management will cancel your shift  11 minutes prior to start time. They have paper charting. Once you have issues with the desktop login forget about getting it resolved. They’ll put a bandage on it. Orientation sucks you in and when it’s over it’s a ghost town as far as the nursing manager. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
From the physicians, social workers, therapists, nurses, BHA’s, everyone is stressed out and miserable. Constantly writing, admitting and discharging until your fingers hurt. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant standing, writing, answering the phone, and calling for emergency assistance. The 1/2 hour lunch is never long enough during a 12 hour work day.

Trash company with high turnover. They recently went through their 2nd transition of the year. They will sell you a dream during orientation but when you actually get on the floor you are met with a bunch of miserable nurses who have been there for a while and are rude to new hires. Some of the staff is nice and make the shift go by smoothly. 
As soon as you get off of orientation they will float you wherever they see fit. There is no use to being at this job full time because they will treat you like PRN staff without the pay.
Let’s talk about the paper charting. It’s 2024 and a facility that steals money from patients should be able to afford a simple electronic medical records system. Instead you are met with 20 + binders ALL filled with eligible hand writing of orders that probably aren’t put into the Pyxis. This is one of the main reasons why they can’t keep any staff. 
All in all do yourself a favor and choose another job it’s not worth the headache.

Helping patients recover to a state where they can recognize that they are doing better and express gratitude 🥹 🙏 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The challenges with aggressive patients. But with adequate staff working in unity the outcome is rewarding when the patients are controlled and no one gets injuried.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Family,  courtesy and respect. Unity is a big factor.  Staff willing to assist one another to maintain order and prevent injury.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Focus on how to maintain a peaceful and calm environment by showing caring and respectful attitude to the patience. How to successfully return a hostile environment to a calm and peaceful one. Patients  satisfaction and staff support.

This was by far one of the worst places I have ever worked.  Management consistently unable to answer questions or provide basic information all while passing the buck to the next person.  Same managers attempting to tell clinical staff how to do their jobs without clinical background.  Constant staff turnover, a consistent culture of "do it without hesitation or you're out of a job," and never ending stress levels from unrealistic expectations. Witnessed multiple people leave due to clique back-biting; unless you're one of them, it doesn't matter how good you are, you are a threat to them.   This place chews through people because the people don't matter, the only thing that matters is keeping the beds full of paying customers.

Typical work day: the techs do majority of the work while nurses sit and gossip.
I have learned that most nurse supervisors will try to abuse their “power”. 
They are immature and it shows in how they carry themselves and speak to others. They lack accountability and professionalism .
Also the company will pay both highly qualified/educated individuals and students with little to no experience the same low wages.
Workplace culture: power struggle, most supervisors and nurses make it their point of duty to belittle the techs.
Overall very toxic and unprofessional culture.
Hardest part of the job: low wage, working with arrogant supervisors and nurses.
Most enjoyable part of job:making a positive difference in the lives of the vulnerable patients.
