Working at NorthBay provided valuable clinical experience, but it was also one of the most demanding and high-pressure environments I have worked in. Expectations for nurses were extremely high, with constant pressure to discharge patients quickly, often before the workload felt safe or manageable. Unfortunately, when issues arose, blame was frequently placed on nursing staff rather than addressing the larger system-level problems contributing to burnout.

Physician interactions were inconsistent; some providers were professional, but others were dismissive and at times disrespectful toward nursing staff, with little accountability. Staffing was often insufficient for the level of patient acuity, and there were frequent situations where stepdown-level patients were reassigned to med-surg units, which created serious safety and workload concerns.

Although the pay was competitive, the physical, emotional, and mental demands of the job made it difficult to feel that the compensation matched the workload long-term. I gained strong clinical skills here, but I would strongly advise new graduates to carefully consider the workload, staffing patterns, and level of support before accepting a position

Worst experience EVER. So much gossiping going on throughout the department I was in. Management loves to blame you, for their own mistakes. Very disorganized unprofessional would not recommend working here at all you will regret it ! Apply if you want to sit around all day , no real learning opportunities or room for growing your skills. Management needs to be retrained in my eyes needs a real makeover . And to be hearing all the drama in a workplace when you have patients that can hear you is totally unacceptable. Management likes to show favoritism others can do certain stuff but as soon as you do it , it’s an issue. MAs are stuck up and don’t want to train you, you get looked at up and down by other staff members since they’ve been there longer. Not a welcoming environment!  Would not recommend applying by any means. Feel like they have potential if they would get retrained. They basically throw you in there blind expect you to know everything when you’re suppose to be getting trained on how everything works , every company runs different but yet they expect you to just jump right in without going through proper training !

When I was first hired at northbay I was really excited because I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field and the position I was hired for seem like a great stepping stone. I found when I was first hired my department was very disorganized and a lot of the people in the department were very unwilling to answer questions or be any type of help. I still I was very determined to get the experience I wanted and needed, unfortunately due to SERIOUS health issues I had to go on a medical leave of absence. While on the medical leave of absence I was contacted multiple times by HR and my manager asking when I would return. I made them very aware of my situation and how serious and dire my health treatment at the time was. I found it to be very inappropriate how they reached out so much wanting me to return even though While going through my treatment I had an extremely compromised immune system. In the end they gave me an ultimatum that unfortunately forced me to resign my position before I was ever able to return to work. 

Designed and developed logical database to support the division in measuring program impact on Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) and patient safety related activities.
Maintained and updated technical content of division program activities, HAI and state patient safety legislation,
health department policies related to patient safety and other elements related to program impact.
Performed analysis to develop data and business process models to facilitate evaluation of HAI program impact.
Coordinated input from partners collaborating on HAI and patient safety program impact.
Supported work between project officer and statistician by preparing datasets for analysis.
Conduct and present preliminary analyses.
Participated in discussions with statistician and project officer as an integral member of the analytic team.
Created programs for data cleaning and tracking edits made to database.
Worked with data entry staff to resolve data inconsistencies.

NB Healthcare is a complete circus of an organization. 

Security is poor for clinic services (outside of hospital) in the event that there may be a disgruntled/violent person onsite. 

There are no social workers to assist with suicidal patients, and employees are trained to provide a 1-800 hotline phone number to these patients.... are you kidding me? 

Patient screening due to the Covid-19 Pandemic is completely useless as the thermometers used for temperature checks are inaccurate by several degrees. This has been addressed to management many times, but nothing done. 

Management also expects you to clock in and out right on the dot. When a doctor you support or a patient holds you up, you should not be reprimanded for clocking out a few minutes after and should definitely not be guilt-tripped from hard overtime that you never even wanted or asked for.



A typical day including me getting report from CNAs and RNs. I would start with which one of my patients required baths during my shift, and which were my Q2s then bed changes, assisting with urinals, and helping patients to the bathroom. I always teamed up with my fellow CNAs to help me with task such as turns or a bath. It was all pretty repetitive and nurses do help to assist with these tasks. A perk was day shift CNAs didn't have to pass out meal trays! Doctors were very nice and if I'd ask a question, they would educate me on anything I asked because I told them I was a nursing student. The hardest part of the job was staffing. There were days where we had a lot of call-outs and it would make your job 10x harder than what it needed to be. The most enjoyable part of the job was the culture and co-workers.

being a Unit Clerk on Labor and Delivery is an exciting job, it is never boring. I answer a multi-line phone, which includes our security door to allow patients and family to come into our unit.  I stock supplies daily, make charts, data entry of charges, keep log book up to date with each patient. copy and file medical records and I keep our unit safe and clean. I have learned a lot about being part of a team. We have a great Women's Healthcare Management team along with my co-workers who are a family.  The hardest part of my job is to see a family loose such an amazing joy, but it has taught me a lot about life as well.  The job I do is enjoyable everyday because I get to be a part of some of the happiest times for families, and just being around a team that work so amazingly well together.

Retired RN. Worked there for 25 years, many years of loving my job, pride in the organization. Great place to work.  But as I got older, I felt descriminated against, like they were looking for any small reason to get rid of me.  I was highly paid after being there 25 years, so they could save money by hiring someone less experienced at a lower pay rate.  I was “asked “ to retire earlier than I planned, probably not outright fired so they wouldn’t have to pay unemployment.  If you weren’t part of the clique, you were picked on & dumped on.  I had some health issues, and there wasn’t enough handicapped parking in the employee lot.  I worked with some amazing nurses, considered them family.  Great team work with the providers in my department.  I miss them & the patients, but definately not the politics and stress.

I loved working at Northbay. It was a great place to live and work. The people that work there are very friendly, courteous, caring, and real loving people. 
I manage to grow not only as a person but as a part of a team.
The management was and is still highly knowledgeable and awesome. Open door policy!
The workplace culture is very diverse. All walks of colors sizes. cultures, religion, and  variety. 
The hardest part of my job was meeting the deadlines to ensure people were taken care of properly. 
The most enjoyable part was everything. The people, the staff, the work, and especially the management! Great people to work side by side with.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The multiple shift options . People are always calling in sick able to pick up extra hours if needed . 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of management. Employees receive no training learn everything on your own. If anything happens with you and your peers you have to sweep it under the rug as they say. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile , uncomfortable , unsympathetic, the lab cares more about the CLS than the CPT

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Always bissy hard to get a break. Expected to work and choose the option of you deciding to take a late munch when not the case. Don’t get to sit always on the run
