Almost a great place to work. AMAZING doctors. No question. But the nursing supervision/management along with staffing could be better. 

Examples: charge nurses ask if you clocked out for lunch, not if you were able to eat today. I usually have to eat as fast as I can and continue working off the clock since there's not enough coverage (Nevada mandates a 30 minute lunch break.) Didn't clock out for lunch? Don't worry, your nurse manager will add your clock-out since obviously you "forgot."

Nurses are quick to write up other nurses with Midas reports when they don't know the whole situation, creating trust issues between nurses.

Low staffing puts RNs in dangerous situations that puts patients safety at risk. Not enough CNAs to do the simple tasks so the RN can stop someone from having a stroke, control their heart rate & bp, or keep patients from falling. Everyday feels like an accident waiting to happen. 

Our patients rave about NNMC, so we must hide these deficits well. But we struggle really hard to barely get things done on time. We could do so much better than this.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Horrible collaboration across the departments, someone had said "mean Girls" for a group of the leaders and now I know what was meant.  I would not work here if you want to be able to have a collaborative, stress free work environment. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
lack of collaboration or sharing of key information that impacts your department and staff.   HR is not helpful at all.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mean girls, their is a cliche in NNMC between the CNO and nursing directors that creates a negative environment in which leaders within this group can treat others poorly and get away with it.   Not a culture I have ever worked in and never will.  It's sad

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
stressful, you feel onguard waiting for someone to accuse you of something.  they say if someone makes a mistake the company has a no blame policy, that is fine.  They may not blame you but don't count on getting a  do over.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My supervisor at the time did not want to work with my school schedule after all the time I sacrificed myself for that job.I had to walk out due to it.I got hired for a mental health tech position few months back but got a call the next day stating they could not move forward since they called Northern Nevada and Northern stated that I am not "Rehireable". It's unfortunate that they have the power to still ruin my future due to me chasing my dreams.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The supervisor and the lead at the time.A bunch of favoritism 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The hospital floors were great.The kitchen environment,not so much 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hustle,the kitchen there is non stop

When you work under stressful conditions you learn to work closely  with your co-workers and to rely on and take care of each other.  This makes you a close family.  You work hard preparing for your surgery cases and then work right beside the surgeon to help him do his best work for the patient who puts their trust in you.  It's kind of humbling when you think of the responsibility you carry for another person's welfare.  But the rewards are great when they send a card expressing their gratitude for everyone's help.  
The hardest part was watching the focus of our goals turn to paperwork vs patient care.  You just dig in and work harder to keep your standards where they need to be.

Horrible place to work. They sit around and cry about how they can't keep people, but they will treat people like garbage. They form cliques, and if you aren't accepted into that clique, well, you might as well look for another job. I had two go arounds there, the first I was fired by the director of the department for... get this... BEING ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. And the second time I left because I was treated like a body filling a chair. 
I'm not going to work at a place that fires people who have been there for many years and does a great job just because one individual is insecure. 
Admin ignore people they don't feel are important, management play favorites BIG TIME. And I'm pretty sure the whole clique-ish, negative culture at Northern in Sparks has carried over to Sierra in Reno. Save your sanity, do not apply here.

PTO accrual and benefits that’s all

Management is horrible and play favorites co workers are ruthless rude kissing butt stuck up think they know it all not qualified throw you under the bus people

Stressful you just want to cry at the end of the day unprofessional co workers only out for themselves no team players

Don’t even want to come in stress starts at the parking lot

Out of all the management/leaders only about 2 are knowledgeable and actually know what they are doing. Favoritism is what gets you promoted if that. You don't get treated fairly because only certain people get away with things that others can't. My manager would take all the credit for the work I did for them. A lot of employees there are good people but are truly not appreciated or valued. This company is owned by UHS and is money driven. Corrupt business. Will never work there again!

Northern Nevada Medical Group under UHS has seen some leadership changes in the past year or so. It has become the worst place to work in Reno, not only are they no longer competitive with pay, they are attempting to implement large hospital policies without any of the ancillary support. There is no rapid response team that's assigned and you'll find it's a dog eat dog mentality. Would highly recommend everyone to find a new place to work, only stayed cause of COVID and responsibility to the community. 

 It is unfair to rank this facility after 12 years since leaving, it's management has changed, and its capabilities, it is a strong emergency facility for eastern NV counties. 

Overworked and underpaid. NNMC offers a room service meal delivery system, in which patients call the kitchen and order foods that are compliant with their diet order. The expectation of Dietary team members is ridiculous given the salary, and you never see managers in the kitchen to assist when things get hectic. Good job experience for nutrition students, but not a place to stay long term.
