With Nursa you always know what the pay, location,shift and role is before you arrive.You select where you want to work.You are an independent contractor so keep your taxes in mind when you are saving money from your shifts. Nursa will provide your 1099 via the app,which is awesome. If you want a paid day off, save a little from each shift until you have enough to pay yourself. My pay has always been on time and correct. The facilities are not perfect but that is the beauty of this opportunity. If you dont fit at a location, stay professional and finish assigned shifts, then dont pick them up again. If I have a problem as a contractor at a site, I always email Nursa, just to give them feedback. Sometimes sites may not know why they have retention issues, if Nursa gets the same type of complaints from various contractors they can communicate this information to the site leadership, effecting a change...maybe.

Pretty great Per Diem agency company. Responsive via app chat function and sometimes staff from Nursa admin reach out via text. 

I have had a few assignments that were utterly ridiculous. Passing night meds for 35+ residents, a few on Q1hr PRN hospice meds who needed them hourly. 

I definitely don't like the lack of transparency of patient assignments. I've walked into care facilities, assigned 12 residents and others 30+ high need residents. 

There's no one from Nursa to reach out to in situations like this to decline the assignment due to safety concerns, to my knowledge at least. 

Those assignments are beyond hard and you get through them and just resolve to not go back to those places. 

You get to know what facilities you work well with and it smooths out after a while. 


Pick and choose the jobs you want . It’s that simple. Work as much or as little as you would like to earn the extra cash you need. Fill in at various locations as close to or as far away from home as you choose . Meeting new people every time you work. Best part is that get paid weekly . This worked quite well for my lifestyle and finances. My only negative review is that it doesn’t matter what the reason might be that you have to cancel last minute, your spouse could have died and they don’t care . You get out on a 2 week suspension from requesting work . I don’t understand why they even bother asking what the reason this might have happened , they could care less . There are no exceptions and I think that sucks . Overall I would highly recommend working through Nursa if you want a flexible schedule that is hand crafted by you to fix your life style and availability .

I like picking my shift locations and knowing I have the support of a large company when I need it.

Learning new facilities and how they function

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You are an independent agent, but I have relationships with employees at different facilities since I work with them in a regular basis 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up at least 15 minutes before the start of your shift. Check your assignments, learn where supplies and linens are located, get door codes. Make your first rounds and thereafter, every 2 hours. Chart your patients throughout your shift. Give a pass down report at the end of your shift.

Nursa is definitely a great opportunity for funds for a student or parent needing flexibility. The app is not user friendly. I really wish that I could save shifts that I want to bid for. There is very poor communication between facilities and agency CNAs. I am very often worried that if I go to the facilities that are pay the most that I will be overworked and abused. The shift cancellation policy is better than it was. But it is glitchy and will tell you that you have cancelled more than you have and freeze your account if it thinks you’ve  gone over the limit.
Overall, as long as you are choosy about the shifts you pick up, you should have no issues. Definitely bring your own equipment (gait belts, shoe covers, gloves, pens, etc.).

This would be a good idea if they actually came through with jobs offered. With over 30 years of experience, I sign up for several shifts I never hear from anyone. Christmas Eve Christmas Day I stayed by my phone and no one let me know either way if I was working. That’s just one example. When I call to ask what the problem is, why I am never chosen for shifts, No one seems to know why. It’s a great idea but people running this place are incompetent to say the least and communication is very poor. There is no hazard pay. 

I have enjoyed the flexibility of NURSA. I just started using the APP again and I have found there are fewer listings.  I requested a few jobs, one for Friday and another for Saturday. I worry about the APP. The facility I requested a shift with called me 2 hours after the shift had begun and asked where I was. My APP still showed the shift as requested, not accepted. I had no way of knowing I was to be at work that day. I felt awful. The facility treated me like it was my fault and cleared my request for a shift the following day. WHAT?!?!?! 
I’ve never had this happen before!
I love working in the different facilities, meeting new patients and caregivers. Each place is different so you get to learn new things every time. 

The people are great, but headed in the wrong direction, led by their CEO who is out of his depth.
Many departments have new leaders who were hired at great expense from big-name companies or bay-area who are used to levels of leadership beneath them that Nursa simply doesn't have nor does it make sense to hire them at the current size and phase of the company.
The culture is a shadow of its former self a year ago, sales are down and it seems that those who know what to do about it aren't in favor with the CEO which equates to their ideas not getting implemented or they leave.

The company had a great mission to help facilities and healthcare centers with nurse staffing. Unfortunately, they set very high goals but lacked the support and structure to achieve them. The employees were great, and everyone worked very hard to build the company. The issue was the people at the top; in my opinion, the CEO was too ambitious. When profits weren't high enough, it was layoffs after layoffs to cut costs. Our team needed more support and never got it. We all worked 24/7. There was also a lot of traveling; it was a field sales-heavy job. 

When I first started working with the company I was working non stop. Then out of the blue no work. What I mean is you go on the app and request shifts based on your schedule. It takes days if not weeks before you know if that facility you requested  approves you as well as you will get a notification that the shift you requested has been taken and suggest you find a replacement shift then the cycle begins all over again very frustrating
