A needle in a hay stack. 

Incredible experience for BHTs. No restraints, you’re not a security guard, your hours are predictable/consistent, and management is reasonable and clear on expectations. You are directly involved in CBT ERP treatment daily, hours on end — way more than most BHT positions. The treatment works and it’s incredibly satisfying to see people apply themselves and get their lives back. In a matter of a few months you will become a specialist in treating these conditions. 

Based on a lot of the reviews, I get the impression this place is more corporate than most mental health clinics, so if you don’t know how to be a bit more of a team player or aren’t willing to apply yourself to more strict SOPs, and be held accountable to a high standard, it might not be for you. 

Compared to most other corporate companies, again, needle in a haystack. WAY less money hungry than most other corporate companies in any other field. They’re not breathing down your neck every second, like other places would, hounding you on your KPIs. But don’t expect this place to operate with as much autonomy as a private practice or talk therapy clinic. You are a cog in a machine they are attempting to replicate all across the country to provide consistent, well researched care. Care that strives to operate daily in a niche between high symptom reduction and high profitability. They hold both in high priority, and I don’t think that makes them evil. It makes them a business that is trying to grow/expand AND provide quality treatment. Both/and thinking ;)

The company has not failed over the last year and still does a lot of good for its clients and employees, myself included. 

This establishment is  well meaning with some very good success for patients. What it lacks is a secure workplace for employees. Employees are an investment and this workplace does not see it this way.

An employer places a tremendous amount of emphasis on hiring. The cost to advertise, recruit, and train takes time and money. Investment of this nature should not be wasted as it is here. When a company takes the time to hire good people, it is then time to place trust in those employees you spent so much time recruiting and training. 

The idea of a manager ruling with an iron fist and exhibiting a "my way or the highway" mentality along with wanting to have control of every aspect of work an employee is involved in is counter-intuitive.

Managers must "manage", not "do". It is about delegation and trust in the employee. If problems arise it is the job of the manager to correct, teach, support, and then trust again.

As tight as owners can be with money, they must invest in things that instill pride in the employee work space. Set a budget to do nice things that are beneficial for the employee. Let them know they are appreciated. This goes for managers as well.

Send managers to managing classes. Classes that will teach them to know how to work with employees.

Owners cannot be controlled by their managers. Owners need to work with their managers the same way a manager works with their employees. Owners must not turn a blind eye to what a manager is doing.

Keep working at it folks and you will begin to have a happy work place with happy employees.

TL;DR. It used to be good, now it's horrendous. Stay away.

Management is full of favoritism and nepotism. Prolonged exposure therapy is so cool, and it's fun to watch the progress of clients overcome their fears head on. TOATC used to have a really good system with personalized client care...then they decided money was more important. Therapists had a maximum of four clients, now it's 10. They re-vamped their whole treatment model to make room for more therapist availability on the floor to see their clients work on their exposures. That's a lie. It's so the higher-ups can make more money by having more clients in the treatment center at once. Therapists are now too busy to see their clients, especially for safety concerns. Clients used to see their therapist twice a week. Now they're lucky if they see their clients once a week. Clinical assistants used to work with clients either individually or in pairs, and clinical assistants used to coach a lot more. Now clients must work in self-directed groups. TOATC's new "efficiency program" took out the best and worst parts of the job. Now it's just a lot of groups. Management was always sketchy, now it's scary. Too much favoritism and nepotism. The clinical directors and "level-4 CA's" are so disconnected from the clients that they're making foolish decisions based on convenience instead of what's best for the clients. But they're all too good of friends to care. Therapists don't stay long, and they basically pushed some of their best therapists out the door with sheer disrespect. 

My morning began with cleaning up after night shift, then signing on, running groups, completing all documentation, then training. I’ve learned that you can work as hard as you physically can and you will still be treated poorly. I learned that they only want questions from employees to shut people down and confuse them. If you’re not liked, you will be treated differently. I noticed blatant favoritism. Management is very poor, often blaming employees for confusion, say you’re not listening and applying what has been taught, even when you follow direct policy. You will be told not to do something but therapists and managers will and contradict themselves. They will say they support individuality, they do not. Work culture is poor and you will be treated differently, if someone doesn’t like you they’ll show you. You will get blamed for mistakes others make. During “employee bonding,” you will be left out. Hardest part was being clearly treated differently, getting fired without any explanation by the same person who told me I was doing such a great job earlier in the week, taking care of others responsibilities, being micromanaged and blamed, being shut down, and being told you haven’t made enough changes, (I wasn’t even able to finish training and made numerous changes). Best part was the clients, watching people progress and view their world differently, they almost made it worth it. Supervisors and management were often late and they will blindside you. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working there was gaining experience with ERP treatment and working with clients struggling with OCD and anxiety disorders.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the constant pressure surrounding productivity, growth, and maintaining high client volumes. Over time, the environment felt increasingly corporate and standardized, which sometimes made it difficult to provide the level of individualized care and clinical flexibility that many clients need. There was also an ongoing sense that employees were replaceable, as I saw multiple staff members — including high performers and individuals in leadership roles — terminated with little or no warning, which created a culture of instability and anxiety among staff.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture initially comes across as supportive and mission-driven, but over time it felt increasingly corporate and numbers-focused. There is a strong emphasis on standardization, productivity, and company growth, which can make both staff and clients feel somewhat interchangeable. The work environment is fast-paced and structured, and while that may work well for some people, it can feel limiting for clinicians who value flexibility, collaboration, and more individualized care.

I was fired from my position earlier this year effective immediately with several other staff members. In fact, the entire marketing team and the core of the admissions team were fired. This includes management positions which have led these departments for months. Other employees who were fired around this time include human resource employees and higher level executive positions. 

Since being let go several months ago, I have heard over and over again about other employees being abruptly fired. This seems to be a pattern since a newly appointed upper management/executive level employee was brought in.. From entry level positions to COO positions, employees have been pushed out and let go unlike any other company I have ever seen. Severance packages are little to nothing and the notice period is effective immediately. Most firings were done remotely with access to work laptops being removed I have never witnessed such little care from a company about the well-being of its employees who loose employment income, health insurance, and more.

What was once an enriching and powerful company, once an an advocate for mental health, has now become an empty shell of a company focused on franchising their location to increase profits. I would not be able to recommend treatment here to anybody knowing core employees, essential to treatment, have been let go.

You will be trained in THE BEST treatment for OCD and anxiety related symptoms 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor communication between management and therapists and too many documents to learn from; hundreds and hundreds of pages of info (including inside PowerPoints-which are so amazing ! ) and while they’re accessible anytime for review, one simply doesn’t know what they may not be utilizing because after the initial 80 hours of
training, the therapist is not given enough day to day feedback and/or correction. This is a research project. You will be asked to follow strict SOP’s. No wiggle room. BUT-you will become an EXPERT ! I LOVED this organization and its symptom-reduction!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lots of task-shifting, you only engage in 15 min one on one sessions. You are asked to NOT engage in Talk-Therapy. But the model WORKS ! your clients will see amazingly high symptom reduction!

Working at The OCD and Anxiety Treatment Center has allowed me the opportunity to help people learn to cope with their anxiety and start to live life fully again. I have learned important skills to help others and have been able to use them to improve myself as well. My co-workers are passionate about assisting people in bettering their lives and this allows for an environment of understanding and progress. I know that if I give feedback to the management or other employees my concerns will be  met with positivity and I will see efforts made to change and better the company. We are heard as employees and seeing the growth that occurs as a result of speaking up is rewarding and confidence building. The positive environment makes the frequent improvements and changes seem not like a burden but like an opportunity for growth. I love working here and highly recommend it to anyone with a passion for serving others who want to make a difference. 

The job is honestly great. You get to do different things everyday, depending on what the client is working on. What's challenging and taxing is the management. 
As a Clinical Assistant, I feel like we don't have a voice in the company. We are thrown in to doing a lot of new things with little to no support from the management. We voice our frustrations/challenges/issues we're running into and the answer always seems like: "figure it out/deal with it". I feel very burnt out. The times you don't see a client is pretty much use to catch up on notes. 
Also, it's feeling more like business rather than healthcare. We're expected to see two clients in an hour session and multiple clients in a group session, juggling our attention to each and every individual. It feels demoralizing not being able to fully support someone who's struggling or try and do your best to help but ignoring the other/s. 
Time is also very constraint to us. We have to be mindful of our hours and make sure we're not going overtime. With multiple notes to do in an hour, it's hard to catch up on notes sometimes. 


Never experienced micromanagement like this, to where you have to make yourself so small as to fit into a very narrow, impossible set of expectations. You get the feeling some staff are threatened if you have more experience with actual direct client care and have a more laid back approach.. I felt bossed around and impeded upon even by non clinical staff to the point of my personal boundaries being crossed, and overall not trusted to do the job. You can just feel there's gossip, especially when people suddenly start treating you differently or treat like you're invisible. Political views and very touchy controversial topics being pushed onto clients during exposures which felt deliberate and intentional. Overall, it just did not feel like a healthy environment and I felt uncomfortable. Also, not sure how I feel about running groups that should really be clinician level led.. even though you gain a lot of knowledge and experience, it just feels unfair for what you're paid.
