Typical day is structured in a preformulated time blocking schedule that is easy to follow if you are trained to follow it early on and don't build your own habits first. It works well for most days but definitely requires being able to make time and result efficient modifications for unexpected events. 
I learned so much about mental health, substance abuse recovery, and the behind the scenes work that is done for acute care treatment. I also learned firsthand the effects on the mental and emotional health  that working in this crisis heavy environment can cause on anyone that is not properly fortified for it or is poor with incredibly strong boundaries/unable to separate emotion from their job duties when things do not go how you feel is ideal. You cannot save or do as much as you may feel you are capable of for everyone for a number of reasons- some professional such as time management and some that are because of reasons you just can't overcome by your own determination alone  such as patients own desire to accept and engage in their treatment/recovery journey. 
I think the hardest part of the job is the ability to compartmentalize, separate emotion from the work while still maintaining compassion, and time management (however, if the time blocking metric is followed this should not be an issue). 
The most enjoyable part of the job is absolutely the help, encouragement, and resulting huge difference you are able to make for the patients that you can reach. Knowing you have set them up for success and seeing the change the treatment team has been able to nurture in them from their moment of admit to the time you file their discharge paperwork is so incredible. The entire treatment staff, group leaders, and administration bar none are some of the best people I've had the pleasure of encountering who all are passionate about what they are at work to do and the people they serve. Best staff environment ever in therapy, psych, and administration with lots of peer support that can only be described as (functional) family levels of unity and care for one another even during disagreementson professional matters. Zero personnel drama, cliques, or disharmony on a personal level. I cannot speak to the experiences of the unit personnel/ direct care environment but overall found it easy to keep friendly relations with them. 

My time there was very very very very very short by choice. Within a few weeks I knew I had made a huge mistake. you basically being brought in to clean up a mess that was left by previous employees. It gets better in the six days of me actually being in the environment I was intended to work in i was scolded three times for information that was incorrectly put into a system I had no access to. I never received all my logins that would have allowed me to do my job. after being an employee toe two weeks and actually in the outpatient environment for 6 days. I was called stupid during one of those scoldings. Everyone in the building with the exception of the maintenance guy and the cleaning lady know how you should do your job and were very vocal even in front of the Director. Counselors were jumping ship left and right. Your list of job duties is so vast that while your boss and Assistant get to leave at 3-430 ish you might be there easily till 5 or 6 cleaning up the mess that was made that day completing work your supposed to have help with alone and for me with little guidance because my boss would leave before me. There specific job duties for anyone in the building the MHTs may be in your charts, the nurse may be in them the Assistant may or may not help you if they know how and the Director is gonna point you in the direction of someone anyone else other than him to answer your questions.I was told that I needed to ask about taking my break if the MHTs short handed I had to stay available. and me trying to be appeasing actually worked a 10hr day without a lunch. I was scolded for socializing with my trainer.. YES I was told that I am socializing too much with my trainer... besides that the office i was given was pretty much trashed and I had to clean it up and it took days to convince the director to give me keys... the director sits back and lets the staff tell the new person off and openly say thier not helping train.. not a welcoming place at all... he'll text  you to keep eyes on you at all times and your trainer is maybe 8 weeks in and cant help you with much your pretty much winging it but you will get your but chewed if an error is made. Accept this job at your own risk I suggest staying prn at your old job. This is a scapegoat positon everything falls on your if something is off or wrong ....GOOD LUCK oh and I trained an hour away and was told at the last minute so have fun with that.

        My time here, though short, was difficult, I did gain a few skills from my experience, but didn't receive training, support, or proper warnings and counseling before being unfairly fired with total disregard of my disability. However, I noticed all of the initiatives I tried to implement were later added to staff training documents and schedule, found this interesting, especially since they tried to say I did a poor job.
            Some staff are pretty set in their ways, and even if it affects productivity and patient care, it is difficult to implement any changes with certain staff/departments. It is allowed that staff behave in a disrespectful way towards others. 
            The saying 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease' is quite true for this hospital. No one enjoys conflict, but administration would rather quickly respond to the side that's louder to appease and quiet them, rather than explore the situation in it's entirety and make a fair decision. Don't go in trying to "fix" anything.. just be another cog in the machine, then you'll be good.
               Don't change your life to start this job. Don't move/change child's school/compromise or give up family time/bend over backwards to help in other departments or areas and don't do anything to support the hospitals mission, or do what needs to be done, especially if outside your job description. 
Employment is not safe or certain, and you won't even expect it and boom, you're on thin ice and your jobs already been listed. 
        Tip: Be sure you describe your disabilities to your administrators, wherever you work, because writing them in your new hire paperwork may not be enough, talk about them too, so they can understand how to help you. Something that was also disregarded during my employment. 
        The positives, pay was good and some staff were quite nice. 

The documentation is stuck in the 70's and is still all done by hand. This causes essential documentation to go "missing" when the facility is at fault. On top of poor record keeping, the notes are not just a few. It is every single patient on the floor, two times a day. On full days, that is 60+ handwritten notes that have to be completed, or wait until tomorrow when you are backed up by another 60+ notes. The work load expectations is beyond outrageous for the amount you are being paid and even the level of respect you are given. 

Many times I sat in the census meeting in the mornings and listened to the management tell us "well, insurance will pay for 3 more days, so let's just keep them here" even though the patient is stable to leave. This is wrong on so many levels. My main concern was if insurance is paying for X Amount of days, what happens when they are out of days because Ocean's kept them longer, And they need to come back 6 months down the road? Their response, "the local MHMR will take care of it". The system is so broken at Oceans and management just wants their money. 

I left particularly because of my direct supervisor being rude, unable to manage people appropriately, and was unable to meet the standards that she set for us. Unfortunately, many have left this position because of this direct supervisor so Oceans knows where the issue is, but will not address it.

I will never work for Ocean's again. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being part of providing and observing the recovery or improvement of the patients. To see the patients come in in one state of mind and leave in a much improved state of mind it’s very uplifting and rewarding.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part for me was having coworkers that didn’t respect their coworkers, and what they were doing the pride and the morale was down that made it more difficult to work in that environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Many times we would be short staffed, and instead of trying to uplift and try to improve the morale and try to work through the shortage. It was bought criticism and which decrease the morale and cause more frustration for the employees. I can’t say anything else about.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My attitude toward my work was a little different because most of the people there there were a few of us, but we needed more typical day of assessing the patient talking with Asian, sharing some of the findings that she had with other disciplines, and discussing some of the things that we might be able to do to improve it updating the care plans and doing the interventions to the best of your ability admitting patients and explaining or talking to them about what to expect and how we needed their help in order to help them OK

What is the best part of working at the company?
Evidently Oceans Healthcare Company has history with investing their time and research for our communities. Putting this company together with a PURPOSFUL agenda in mind. The processing of 
providing,managing,
maintsinence, and stabilizing the revolving doors of OUR Mental Healthcare System.  We were long overdue for fresh eye's for a NEW APPROACH in this area of Oklahoma.  Our Mental Healthcare situations have become complacent and it is apparent it has become nothing more than routine and BURNOUT is very evident.
   Oceans Healthcare has renewed my thoughts of hope and success for our communities and Norman Oklahoma is a great start! Hopefully they will be welcomed to  our more rural areas for accessibility. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Learning New Technology, New ways of communication in successfully meeting the requirement and needs of our patients. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Phenomenal with great culture diversity among staff. Responsibility designated to address needs for the best outcome in patient cate.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Currently we are still in training next few days and by mid week with their admission for our patients .

Oceans has been very conscientious about allowing me to maintain a healthy work life balance. My job is very fast paced but is so rewarding at the end of the day. We have an amazing team that are always advocating for patient care, which helps me perform my job. I have learned so much in this role and continue to learn because of the excellent leadership at this company. My boss has been amazing at teaching me and using challenges to make me better in my role. I love that I get to interact with the patients while assisting with getting coverage for the patients stay. The most challenging part of my job is painting a picture of the patients status to the insurance companies by showing criteria for continued stay but also showing improvement. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the company compassion for patient care and successful rehabilitation. This company sees a need and finds a way to provide the best care for a patient, even if the patient doesn't have the financial means needed. Management at this company is so amazing with the patients but they are also amazing with employees. We have a voice and it is always nice to know when they say open door policy it really is an open door. I look forward to my continued growth with Oceans Healthcare.

Do you like having mandatory overtime b/c the hospital admits too many patients (without enough staff to care for them?) Do you not value your professional license? Do you not mind that dementia patients are being mixed with the adult psych patients? Do you enjoy struggling to keep up with documentation, assessments, group notes because the hospital places too much work on you? Do you prefer to put money ahead of patient care? If you do, then this is the perfect place for you!  
Nursing staff (both RN's and techs) are now being required to work an extra shift a week because Oceans decided to"fill" up the building without any consideration of the fact that we do not have staff to cover all units. Every single department is being overworked at this time, including social workers and rec therapists. Staff have voiced their concerns to administration, we completed surveys for Oceans where many of us expressed our concerns and nothing has been addressed. In fact, it just continues to get worse. 
Do yourself a favor, spare your mental health and do not apply here...unless you enjoy being stressed. The only reason employees are still working here is because 1. we have not found a job yet or b.we need this job to pay for the medication we require as a direct result of working for Oceans

I worked at Ocean’s Healthcare and experienced a culture that was difficult to navigate, particularly at the leadership level. The corporate office and C-suite environment felt highly cliquish, with a strong “insider vs. outsider” dynamic. New hires often struggled to integrate, and there was a noticeable pattern of individuals being pushed out if they were not part of the established inner circle.

One of the more concerning aspects was how concerns or operational issues were handled. Employees who attempted to raise legitimate problems or opportunities for improvement were often met with resistance. I personally witnessed several individuals being wrongly terminated in order to protect the original hospital administrator. In some cases, there appeared to be subtle pressure to remain quiet rather than address underlying issues directly.

This environment made it challenging to foster open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement. While the organization has potential, a shift toward greater transparency, inclusivity, and psychological safety would significantly improve both employee experience and overall effectiveness.

I absolutely love working with the patients. Gaining their trust during the most difficult times of their lives is such a rewarding feeling. However the hospital is always ALWAYS short staffed causing unsafe work environments. You’re expected to be put in dangerous situations with zero help from anyone above. There’s a lot of new faces in the admin building that you will never see when staff are needed on the unit like during codes. When you call upper management for help, you will either not be able to get through to anybody or they say they’re trying yet no staff shows. That’s is an ongoing issue for 3 years that I have seen. You will also see that your hard work goes completely unnoticed, you’ll notice that male staff will almost always have a hire wage than female staff & new MHT coming on will most likely always make more than those there for years by dollars. Expect to see quickly that the talk during interview process is completely different than how it’s ran day to day. There are some great nurses MHTs and therapist there so it’s not all but it is all in the admin and upper management.
