Great Management and CEO. They provide the tools and allow you to be just as much a part of the decision making processes. Each employee is very much valued, and encouraged to offer suggestions for improvement. In my review of Ohioans I would like to state that Ohioans does encourage and is very open to employee suggestions and ideas at any time.  We are and remain Top Workplace.  Employees do come first; however, this organization expects 110% from you.  If you want to work for an organization that expects only 50%, does not allow you to truly engage, does not allow you to become part of the Ohioans team, and does not listen when you take initiative and provide input or opinions, then Ohioans may not have been or be the right fit for you.  
There is a great respect for each other which enables the staff to show amazing teamwork. The CEO and managers treat you as an equal rather than other companies I have worked for in the past, with some big shot throwing weight around while belittling the staff.
 With that being said, if you are looking for a place of employment that offers you a voice, the training and skills needed, the respect and trust to make decisions on your own with little oversight from management then Ohioans is a great place for you. At the end of the day, we feel like a family. We are all here to achieve the same goals and that is to provide support for our families. The way we do that is to give back to the communities, to be the best home care, and provide what our patients need and that is REAL PEOPLE, RELIABLE CARE.

I’ve been employed with Ohioans for about 2.5 years and can’t imagine leaving anytime soon. It’s the first job I’ve had that made me feel valued as an employee. I’ve worked in the field as RN case manager, also as a nurse preceptor and now work in the office setting. Like any nursing job, it can be stressful as nursing in general assumes a lot of responsibility. But in my experience, it’s a lot less stressful than working in a hospital or inpatient setting. You have 1 on 1 time with your patients which affords you time to feel like you are actually making a difference and not being pulled in 12 different directions at once. Case managing does require good organization skills as you will make your own schedule and assume responsibility for your patients. I kept a notebook aka my “brains” where I wrote everything down and that helped me stay on top of things. But it’s flexible, you make your own schedule and determine your own workload. It’s emotionally rewarding as you care for patients over several months and you see wounds heal and progress made. It feels good to know you are making a difference. This is the type of job where you get out of it whatever you are willing to put into it.  As far as working in the office, I love the culture of Ohioans. I’ve never worked for a more supportive company, it is truly the best job that I’ve had and I could not be happier.

I was initially very excited about working for Ohioans, I had a company car and good pay and was welcomed by all office staff.  As time went by I was continuously asked to do visits that were not part of my territory or not my responsibility.  Decisions about patient care were being made by non clinical and unlicesnced personel.  I do think the nurses and home health aides are excellant caregivers but I think the company is growing too fast and has lost site of the ethics of caring for patients and they do not respect the employees that represent the company in the field that have patient contact.  Also, I was never given a 30, 60, or 90 day evaluation and was then let go for being "just not the right fit".  As an experienced registered nurse, I did not feel appreciated for my knowledge and skills, and I felt unsupported when I had clinical or documentation concerns, as the office is run by non clinical staff who have never had patient care experience.  I agree, not the right fit for me, but totally shady HR practices.

Unless you kiss a lot of butt you will probably be fired, management is horrible and are not clinical at all. Unless you are buddy buddy with everyone you will walk on egg shells and have a target on your back. Coming to work and doing your job and doing it well, is not enough for this company. If you have kids, this is absolutely not the place to work as you will get looked down on when you need to care for your children, such as doctors appointments, dentist, anything with school or any emergencies are absolutely frowned upon although you work 8-5 M-F which is also the same times as any doctors office, school hours exc but you are expected to neglect your children or you will have a target on your back and potentially fired! You can put 5+ years into the company, hard work and dedication and if your not friends with management you walk on egg shells everyday you walk in. They give no write ups, no warnings. You can work half your life for this company, miss out on a lot with your children and family, have great numbers and be very knowledgeable and it still will not be enough and they will walk you out as if you didnt do anything for them. Very heartless people. 

People of value are underplayed and utilized to help build others around them up and boost them up ladders when the persons of value will never get to see the first step of the ladder . The culture advertised vs the culture we endure are 2 different things. It’s a facade performed to get ratings and popularity , awards and acknowledgments. When won the ones who did nothing but hold titles are the ones who receive the praise , benefits raises, new positions and respect. Everyone else is merely employed, told they contributed but shown they are minimal to the idea of the success gained. It's a job for as long as we are made to feel as if we're the help and not someone of value . A place to earn money but struggle after 2weeks of labor. A place we absolutely dread walking into because you are no bigger than a fly on the wall Unless you fake your way to the top.

Ohioans is a wonderful company!  They care about their employees and always shows their appreciation.  Ohioans is very generous with their employees. I have received a birthday surprise on my door step and a very nice gift for the holidays.  They tend to have a get together party for the employee's throughout the year, showing their appreciation   Most of all they give you the training that is essential for our job.  They have a group of trainers to help with any questions and concerns with our clients. There is always someone to answer your questions.  The owner can be walking throughout the office and will always acknowledge you and give you a smile and kind word.  Showing his appreciation for the work we do.  

Very good training but still feel alone in the field .  Doesn’t seem to matter if you are feeling overwhelmed because they will still call you to fill in for someone else.  I feel there is not enough knowledge in the clinical managers in the office except a few so will always ask those knowledgeable people
Questions - steer clear of those that are just the figure heads.  Fantastic coworkers in the field that try to help as much as they can and the patients are fantastic.  They do offer a lot of office support that other companies don’t but that doesn’t mean as much to me as good communication, fair practices, and good pay and all of those are fair and can use improvement.  There is advancement but it seems to go to specific people

I have worked for Ohioans for almost 7 years, and couldn't be happier. During the pandemic, we continued to provide our patients with safe and reliable care and was provided with PPE while other companies, stopped seeing their patients. When hospitals couldn't get masks, gloves, or sanitizer our Management team got us what we needed. The clinical support to field staff provides the education and training so our acute patients with complex needs receive the care they deserve. There is a lot of autonomy in-home care and isn't the right fit for everyone. If you are a person of integrity, honesty, strong work ethic, and looking for a rewarding career the door to the Ohioan's culture embraces you. Did I mention the generosity of gifts they send you at birthdays, holidays, having babies, appreciation gifts, and other company events for you and your families?  

Working at Ohioans Home Health and Hospice has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From day one, I’ve felt valued, not just as an employee, but as a person. The leadership genuinely cares about each team member, and it shows in how they support us professionally and personally.

I’ve worked in healthcare for a while, and it’s rare to find a place where you feel both challenged and appreciated. At Ohioans, there’s a strong sense of purpose in what we do, and the team environment makes even the toughest days easier.

Do not expect to have any sort of leadership from top management within this company.  If you need guidance as a nurse, your best bet is to turn to your fellow coworkers and hope for the best.  Management will take credit for your work, but then turn around and openly admit that they have no idea what you do for a living.  I had to ask for a raise after 2 years despite being told regular reviews would happen...I didn't get any sort of review at all. For years I worked a job that gave me zero sense of purpose.  Any "good deed" is turned into a "well you should've done it better" and the company is all about looking good in the face of the community, to whatever cost it may be.  Be fearful of your nursing licensure at all times if you decide to work here. The only way to really get to the top in this company is to do some not-so-ethical activities.
